Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Awesome Review 350Z !!!

It has few things mentioned which you dont read/see anywhere on web. I liked the pictorial part much more, the images are super clean, well focused. "TAI Exclusive", "Tips and Tricks" and "Tester's notes" are fantastic again much better than the rest of internet review. The best thing is low and high beam light test-again I am speechless for this test, Kudos 350Z and your team.

Sorry friends for long period of absence. In the last week before vacation, I had to finish many things in University so got inactive. During Diwali days again it was not easy to find time on internet except few chats on facebook or whatsapp. And the most unfortunate was I had severe bladder stone pain New year day onwards (Gujarati new year, on the day after Diwali) and in those days not many doctors available. I managed somehow with painkillers for 3-4 days and later had to see doctor and he advised to get operated/treated for stone immediately. Was treated for cystolithoplepaxy (using laser probe in urinary tract), was a little painful treatment. 48hrs after treatment spent in hospital and got discharge yesterday.
Meanwhile Tata being Tata, non committal of delivery for my Zest XT revotron, suddenly day before yesterday my dealer called me that next week my car is reaching at their Garage and I should finish the procedure of loan disbursement.

Lets see what happens.

As many of the TAI Zest enthusiasts (prospective buyers and owners) are already on Zest facebook page know that I expressed my displeasure repeatedly for this delay and lack of feedback or response from TML. And as I mentioned the charm of buying new car during Diwali time when old friends meet us at native place is lost. Now even if I will be delivered the car, for few days I wont be able to drive much due to recent medical situation.

All the best to Zest owners and Prospective buyers and belated Happy Diwali.

Hello everyone,
Now that my zest would be on its way for registration in couple of days, I have few doubts in my mind
1. When can you take insurance from outside? Should it be on the day of registration or I can take in advance also? The insurance portal is not accepting future date as registration date. Please help. How is iffco tokio?
2. What is the difference between DRLs and angel eye. When to use these features? DRLs are for day time driving, angel eye for?

Thank you Vikyjoshi.
we can see big difference in compact segment in production wise and sales little bit dipped. Here we can see the TML is lagging in strategy of executing properly.
Hope whatever the little sales are happened because of Zest[;)].

You can take the insurance as soon as the chassis no. is allotted (read billed because dealer may change the allotted one) to you. Insurance portals do not accept future date. But you can take help of some agent or company sales executive, they would do it for you. No experience with iffco tokio.

DRLs are the LEDs which switch on as soon as you slot your keys and turn the ignition on. Angel eyes are corona rings surrounding projector headlamps. They come on only with headlamps.

Hi Guyz,

Small update from my side. I am facing small issue that Reverse Parking Sensors don't get activated when I start the engine and slot the reverse gear. They work well when engine has run for sometime like 1-2 minutes, but not immediately. If I press the sensor switch, then they work.

Is anyone else facing this issue?

I thought the angel eyes come on when you switch on the parking lights[confused]

About the issue you mentioned, I faced the same when i put the test car into reverse straight from start. I think it could be that the HK unit takes time to boot up all the functionalities so maybe wait a minute before putting the car in reverse.

Finally the wait is over. Got my ZEST XMA yesterday. Didn't get a chance to drive it much as it still carries the temp number. Just waiting for the registration to be done
Congrats shobhit....wish you many happy miles ahead [:D]

Re: Tata Zest: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

Just a quick info regarding my experience of XMA :
+ve
1) Engine Refinement is good and never felt any turbo lag
2) Pick up is good . Surprisingly found it better as compared to my fluidic verna Automatic Diesel :-)
3) Good suspension and a high GC gives a good feel
4) High quality sound from HK and I was able to pair my nexus 5 without any issue
5) Quite spacious and feels very airy.

- ve
1) Gear shift is not so smooth while trying to rev little hard
2) Need more controlled press at accelerator in bumper to bumper traffic or while reversing slowly
3) I felt that car sometimes respond slowly when starting from zero.
4) There is mild jerk in lower gear changes.
5) At some areas build quality, fit and finish doesn't feel too great.I could notice some pasting around stereo. Also door handles doesn't give a solid feel.
6) Either steering is not properly aligned or something wrong with tyres alignment. Have to hold steering tilted towards left. Will get it checked soon

Will try to post some detailed description along with pics. Still waiting for the registration to be done so that I can take this beauty for a long drive :-)
