1) Yes, Today I got call from service center asking me to get car to them so that they can fit in the fix.
If anything you want me to complain about zest, then it will be mileage. in city it gives just around 12. But it depends lot on driving style.
So, it is officially solved by TML and love to see the updated pictures of the solution and your feedback for that. Are you getting 12 for diesel ? [confused]

By the way, thanks a lot for clarifying the doubts as it helps a lot in making decisions as your ownership thread is one of my favorite to know about Zest diesel and you also answer all the queries and help others.

I completely agree with Harish. After driving my Zest QJD for 3700KM, the engine is getting smoother. Yesterday I did 475KM on NH4 and I got FE of 19.5 kmpl with 2 people on board with speed of 80-100kmph. Thats really great... I am happy with my Zest..
One should test drive Zest, Amaze and Dzire to decide the car.

Harish, I also got a call from KHT motors to fit the kit for mud entering to engine bay. They are picking my car tomorrow. Full marks to KHT motors service center team.

Hi Harish,

First of all congrats on your ownership [:)]. I am a new user here and yet to write an introduction about myself, which I will shortly.

Add me to the list of people trying to decide between the Amaze and the Zest. Though I'm yet to take the test drive of the Zest I was quite amazed by its interiors and audio system.

Coming to your above post, isn't a mileage of 12 bit low for the QDJ? Or is it because its still in the run in period? People who own Amaze are claiming to get 17 in city.

Regards,
Vivek
Hello Vivek,

The way people use "City" word might be causing the major difference[;)]
As you are from Blore, I would give a detailed example which can help you understand better.

If I take my car on flyover from silboard to electronic city around 90-100, I will get above 20 easily.
If I ride the same stretch below the fly over, in traffic and signals, I will get around 17.
Now, the 12KMPL i was taking about is just inside Electronic City, daily drive of 5 kms, with 2.5 on each side. and that too on max 3rd gear.
AFAIK, engine needs to heat up to give its optimum performance. but in my case, I have to switch it off even before it starts thinking of heating up.
Moreover, Fiat multijets are know to open up after first 10k kms.
My friend owns a punto evo with same engine and its mileage is worst that what I'm getting

If you are concerned about the 1 or 2 liters of diesel you save after a long trip, Amaze might be a better idea. But for anything else, Its Zest according to me.
Just take a TD of Zest, then you will certainly know what I'm taking about.

Thats cool. So the Mud in Engine is getting fixed. However our Concorde Mysore Road hasn't bothered to give me a call still. I should call them and find out I guess.

Are you going to showroom to get the TD? If you want I can try talking to the MY SA to get the TD car here for you. Let me know.

Wow, thanks for that really generous offer Harish. But more than me my family wants to see the car and want to see how it feels and behaves with three in the back. That is why I didn't take the test drive at the Concorde showroom in Dairy circle. I have asked the SA to come down to my house tomorrow.

But would like to surely meet you in person. Sometime Friday perhaps.

Experience has nothing to do with the Mileage[:)]
I would say its other way around. The more experienced, you will feel more confident and more confidence leads to high speeds and quick accelerations and late braking [;)]
All the above factors is true for me and will reduce the mileage.
As a new driver, you will be more careful and I'm sure you will get more than what I'm getting.

On a different note, we are discussing about a car which is costing above 8 Lakhs on road.
Should we be really worried about the 1 or 2 point difference in mileage? Does that really make any difference to you?
I believe its just a stupid marketing technique by our Maruthi Suzuki. To tune the engine under-powered and get maximum mileage.
If mileage was our concern while buying a car, shouldn't every1 be buying a Nano?

The culprit here is mostly, Bangalore. I have seen the traffic in Bangalore and can easily say that even getting 12 is very good. I remember with my SX4, I was struggling to get 12 when I first drove it in Bangalore. But here in Coimbatore, even with my petrol Xcent, my city mileage is ~14, purely based on traffic and road conditions.

So it is not about experience, it is about road/traffic conditions and your driving style as well.

Hello Mohil.
Hope I'm not late to reply, just saw your message.

1) Yes, Today I got call from service center asking me to get car to them so that they can fit in the fix.
2) I have run 4600+KMS. Till now no issues found or any deterioration in quality. Rather I feel its getting smoother with time.
3) for me, its always zest. just compare the NVH levels in amaze and zest. 15 inch wheels will get you more comfortable ride. the Steering response also is superior. Clutch is lighter. Interiors are miles ahead. Frankly, I dont see any reason to go with Amaze unless you want the "Honda" brand.

If anything you want me to complain about zest, then it will be mileage. in city it gives just around 12. But it depends lot on driving style.

I would say, Go ahead and book Zest. You will never regret [;)]
Thanq very much for ur advice harish
Just one more question
My monthly use is not more than 700-800 km
I m really confused whether to buy a diesel zest or a petrol amaze??becoz the FE of petrol zest is vry bad my family has ruled that out..moreover CNG kit cannot be fitted in petrol zest
I m from gujarat and cng pump networks and cng kits are way more advanced here...
But the cost of top hand petrol amaze with future cng attachment is same as that of top hand disel zest..
Pls give an appropriate advice as I m really confused right nw between petrol amaze and diesel zest..

P.S-future use i.e afte 1 to 1.5 yr may iincrease

With monthly running of 700, I would suggest to stick with petrol.
But your reasons for opting out Zest petrol is not convincing enough.
Diesel zest is giving around 20 on highway. I was shocked to see many here with petrol getting more than 17.
there are several users here who have reported more than 17 on highways on long drive on RT.
I agree a few has reported lesser also. FE is dependent on multiple factors, major being the driver itself.
But when buying a car of this segment, I believe you should be looking at overall features and comfort than just getting stuck on FE. you just do a math for 700 kms how much difference does it make if you get 17 or 18 KMPL. It wont go above 120 rs P/M for a 1 point difference.
Now is it really worth to consider that as a factor to take a decision?
ARAI figures for both zest and amaze petrol is 18, then how can you weigh amaze more comparing to zest?

As you are from Gujarat, I'm sure I dont have to tell you saving 1 lakh upright on zest petrol is much more financially beneficial than hoping to save 120 per month by buying Amaze [glasses]

If you enjoy power in cars and driving on highways, go for zest diesel, else I would suggest zest petrol.
I would like to hear what features you saw in Amaze which can make it a better buy than zest.

Honestly speaking except the design and comfort nothing in the amaze is good. but amaze favours cng..and zest petrol doesn't and that has created the confusion. its not about 120 p.m. but its about which car favours cng kit becoz that can save a lot in longterm

Most probably i'll book a diesel zest tomorrow. in my family everybody enjoys highway driving..and I think the use will increase with time.

Is there a CNG variant for Amaze..? Or is it just CNG compatible with external kits ?
Zest may get CNG as revealed by 350Z in the official review. We could see hidden icons in the instrument cluster..!![:)]
