Tata Vista QJD Ownership Review: Brand New Sedan Class

Great to see that your car is back to shape AppU. It was very sure that there was something wrong in the turbo as the car was whistling excessively. BTW how did the hose break. Any idea?Now that it's back in shape I'm waiting again to drive it.
There was a Excessive smoke from tail pipe for some past 5000 Kms and I was really worried about it.
I checked with our Chennai guys, everyone suspected the Turbo. During the Chennai meet, Illango checked the said, Oil seal may be the culprit. But, Oil level remains the same. As I was on bed rest for one month and started going to office in car, I had no time to check the issue.
One day, when I was in call with Dhaya. He said, if it is a Oil seal leakage, then there will be oil spill above the Turbo hoses. After the call, I opened the Bonnnet and tried to find is there any Oil spill on Turbo hose. But What I found was a big Crack in Turbo hose.

Next day morning I went to Concorde at ECR, opposite to Prathana theater, Chennai. And said there is a big crack in Turbo hose and I need to replace it. they checked the availability of spare and asked me to leave the car. As I was on the way to office. I left the car next day.
As the car reached 70,000Kms, service adviser advised to clean the EGR and Silencer. I asked them to clean the same.
I left the car in TASS around 9:30 am and collected the car around 7:00pm(Because of Office work).

and Turbo kick feels excellent and it is Fun to drive Vista in Turbo zone.
BTW, 70K oil service is Due for Whity will leave her for service by this month.

Good to hear that. How much did they charge for cleaning EGR and replacing hose?

I had an oppertunity to drive a 2011 Vista Vx(owned by my friend's brother) in kochi traffic, where i daily drive new Punto. This vista is rarly driven and run only 36K km, in which 3K km run only in last month.
Compared to Punto, Vista is far comfortable to drive in traffic. Also no need to tell it is spacious. Only issue the owner faced is the accessory parts failure like, central lock,power windows, rear wiper wash, hydrolic rear hatch opener and bulbs etc.
vinodh,are you sure you didnt have ay of these failures?i know these are included in the company guarentee and will be replaced free of cost.
Yes, As you said, It is pleasure to drive Vista. Ingress & Outgress is very easy, Good Mileage, enough power, Nice Turbo Punch, Good Handling, Excellent breaks, wonderful QJD engine..and What else we need !!

May be the daily usuage keeping it perfect condition!
Why I am or many others asking the same question is, this is the area where Tata vehicles (Vista,Manza) fails most of the time. I am a fan of Tata Manza after i driven that some years before a day dull in congested roads of Kochi. But many of the Manza owners including our TAI members i met are fed up with the maintenance of this vehicle.
May be the daily usuage keeping it perfect condition!

+1. I can compare this with my previous car Manza Safire. During my 3 years / 39k KM ownership only driver side power window mechanism and headlight combiswitch were replaced once. All other parts were stock when i sold the car.

I totally agree with you. TATA is not that much good in Electricals/Electronics. They need to deliver better and "Quality" products.
Regarding Manza Owners: I too spoke with Manza owners from our forum as well as with some of my friends(Manza Owners).
Few are quite happy with it. Few are not.
The Reason is Fear. Even a small normal issue will look like Major issue, because, the way people demonstrate about the issue on TATA cars make it major.
For Eg: because of turbo hose crack, I had a excessive smoke from my car. people started to say, Turbo gone and not to use the car till I repair.
So a small problem in TATA cars gives fear and the TASS are not that much capable to identify and resolving the issue.
As a TATA car owner for around 9Years. I know the capacity of TATA cars and a small care on car will make you happy(Not only for TATA, for all the cars)

Yes, Precisely & Aptly put by Appu. A very small issue on TATA car will be blown out of proportions by our surrounding masses. These same people will be speak about reliability & quality of TATA cars without even knowing the actual problem.
About Electronic Gadgets, I think ZEST & BOLT are way ahead in technology as compared to competition.

Rubber hose have to withstand on all the Temp, also this hose used to carry the pressure from Turbo.
I guess there should be a small hole/light crack in the hose for some past 4-5months. As we didn't noticed it. the crack became more, that have caused excessive smoke.
BTW, one of our friends Vento's Turbo hose gone kaput around 50K Kms.
Total costs 3,600 bucks. I thought to share the bill, but forgot to take a snap. Will share the bill asap.

Well one fine night when I was going to take it out for night rounds I got in the car very enthusiastically in the driver's seat and the seat just reclined full back when I sat in it. I didn't pull up the recliner lever at all. Even if I rest my back with a bit of weight it goes back but while reclining it reclines fine to and fro. But with the lever down it goes back when I rest my back. Please help me.
