Noticed a nice looking seat belt-was that original with the car?

Those are aftermarket add-ons, just a cushion which can be wrapped over the OE seat belt.

Mine seem to have lost spring and dont go back to resting position v easily?

Check them on priority. One of the possibility is twisted seat belts (happened to me twice on my City) Else you should change the pre-tentioner unit (complete assy)

Was that a chiller box between the front seats?

The one between the front seats is after market center armrest, which I brought for 900bucks and fixed by myself.

That's after market seat belt pretentioner it seems. Appu, please correct me if I am wrong.What make it is? How much did it cost?

I thought it was the cushioning shoulder pads for the seat belts.

As my Dad and Sis used to tell the seat belts are inconvenient near neck. I went to GP road and asked for Shoulder pad, they given this. I totally forgot the amount which I paid for this :(

Now, none of them can say any reason to avoid seatbealt

62,000+ Kms in 2.6 Years ! That's awesome in a privately owned Indica Vista. Skimmed thro' this thread. As against the typical PointA-to-PointB attitude of TATA car owners, you like your car a lot and it too. Rare combination for a Pvt Vista owner. Doesn't come without active participation from the car. Hats off to you and Vista. Wish you many many more happy and comfortable miles.

Just because TATA attached the tag "Indica", the so familiar X-mas tree cluster, location of speedo and conservative Engine tuning, it did not take off that well. Such a winner of a car, made average by the poor strategy. Then they managed to repeat it with Manza too .

PS: The shape of headlamps viewed from low front angle view of Vista / Manza always reminds me of my favourite Garfield.

Had a drop in power and mileage-did all sorts of things as suggested by myTVS (EGR part changed,exhaust cleaned, all filters and oils changed) power better than before but still sluggish and mileage has picked up from ~13 overall to ~15-was getting 17

spent so much could have driven 6500 k more at the same mileage!

6500 km more! It seems you have spent almost 30 thousand Rs on this mileage issue?

I will be highly obliged if you give breakup of the costs incurred for this issue as recently I have also faced drop on the FE of my Manza QJD.

It seems FE issue of my car is resolved now, FE rose to 20 kmpl from 13 kmpl.

Just drove his Vista at the recently held Chennai meet. His Vista has been perfectly maintained. Appu gives top class maintenance for it and the car is running very smoothly. Believe me or not he has maintained it in a such a manner that even at 70k kms rattles are NIL. As most of you said it's a perfect example of a reliable car from car. Roger that. Wishing you more and more happy miles in it Appu.

Hi Appu, Nice to read 70K milestone and without any issues in car performance.
I changed few things in my car during my 4 year drive with Vista.
1. Power window winding mechanism did not work in rear window (got it changed)
2. One glow plug gone kaput (got it changed). SA told me that there are 4 glow plugs in indica Vista Quadrajet.
Apart from these, its a gem. Absolute pleasure to drive (My daily commute to office) and going strong year after year.

Yes, As you said, It is pleasure to drive Vista. Ingress & Outgress is very easy, Good Mileage, enough power, Nice Turbo Punch, Good Handling, Excellent breaks, wonderful QJD engine..and What else we need !!

There was a Excessive smoke from tail pipe for some past 5000 Kms and I was really worried about it.

I checked with our Chennai guys, everyone suspected the Turbo. During the Chennai meet, Illango checked the said, Oil seal may be the culprit. But, Oil level remains the same. As I was on bed rest for one month and started going to office in car, I had no time to check the issue.

One day, when I was in call with Dhaya. He said, if it is a Oil seal leakage, then there will be oil spill above the Turbo hoses. After the call, I opened the Bonnnet and tried to find is there any Oil spill on Turbo hose. But What I found was a big Crack in Turbo hose.






Next day morning I went to Concorde at ECR, opposite to Prathana theater, Chennai. And said there is a big crack in Turbo hose and I need to replace it. they checked the availability of spare and asked me to leave the car. As I was on the way to office. I left the car next day.

As the car reached 70,000Kms, service adviser advised to clean the EGR and Silencer. I asked them to clean the same.

I left the car in TASS around 9:30 am and collected the car around 7:00pm(Because of Office work).

After changing the Hose the smoke has gone compltely and Turbo kick feels excellent and it is Fun to drive Vista in Turbo zone.

BTW, 70K oil service is Due for Whity will leave her for service by this month.
