Hi All, need your valuable feedback on the below item:

My friend's uncle test drove Tigor and Tiago and they are finalizing between Tiago XZ v Tigor XT. More leaned towards Tigor XT at this moment. It's the petrol variant they are looking for. Few doubts need clarification -

1. How much VFM is Tigor XT v Tiago XZ. Yeah, typical Indian middle class comparing apples to oranges. But question is, is it worth to pay 45K more for that extra bit of space inside and boot. XT seems to be the more VFM proposition in Tigor getting almost all essentials (ABS included). Airbags are missing though. But gets Tiago XT's 4 speaker music system. Tiago XZ which is fully loaded seems superb VFM considering other cars in the segment and hence the confusion.

2. Revotron engine in Tigor - the family while driving a petrol XZ Tigor felt the vibrations in first gear, not enthusiastic as Tiago (yes. they felt Tiago super responsive compared to their regular drive - good old MS WagonR!), engine/road noise sweeping into cabin. Anything alarming in this. They simply compared it with MS 3 cylinders and hence the doubt in their mind of a bad petrol engine (I believe 'TATA' apprehension is there[sleep])

3. The acclaimed ride quality. They said the road undulations filtered into the cabin. Not sure whether any issue with TD car/ tyre pressure/ such a big pothole was there[surprise]. I asked them to compare with its peers and judge the ride quality.

Please give your valued inputs. Thanks in advance.[:)]

Hi jagrover,
Please see below my responses. Hope this helps.
1. Apart from space, I still think Tiago XZ to be more VFM. Here is why.

2. My Tigor test drive car did not have any vibrations (neither do latest Tiago batches) and it had better noise isolation than Tiago. Some say power delivery may be compromised a little bit due to added balancer shaft in Tigor, I am not sure.

3. Not sure if you are referring to Tigor or Tiago here. Please do TD several times, possibly from several dealers. I see you are from Kochi, do let me know if you like to talk to or check out a real owner's car (Tiago), I can help you find one.

Thanks Prabhagar ji. Since they are more inclined to Tigor XT, I want to clear those doubts related to Tigor. They really fell in love with the Tigor's design (that coupe like stance maybe). Most of the things they mentioned actually were contrary to what we know from forum discussions. Especially ride. NVH levels are bit high compared to other rivals (MS and Hyundai) if I'm not wrong. Correct me if the opposite. But my understanding was, it was better than Tiago petrol due to balancer shaft. Tiago came to their home where as they went to showroom for Tigor test drive. So can't comment on the road where they actually did the TD of both the cars. Maybe they have to travel in other cars to understand the suppleness in Tigor's ride [:)]

Go for the airbags.
I have tigor xzo & i am loving driving it. I have also Indigo ecs but never bothered driving it often. It was driven by my driver. But tigor is solely driven by me.
I have driven both tiago & tigor, didn't felt vibrations except at idling due to them being 3 pot. The engine feels little sluggish & you do have to plan your overtakes on highways.
I was also planning to buy tiago xz but bought tigor solely for the looks, extra cabin space, larger boot & reverse camera.

But can't stretch the budget for XZ(o) is what I could understand from them. It will be Tigor XT or Tiago XZ. Can you please comment on the ride quality and handling part.

Go for Tiago xz then. Ride quality and handling is almost same. During my test drive i felt tiago to be a little quicker (not too much) due to its less weight.
My reasons for buying tigor were solely cosmetics, extra features & space plus wife's final choice.

So it seems, Tiago XZ for all those features it is offering. Maybe for that extra bit of interior and boot space and also for that awesome styleback design its the Tigor XT with that kind of budget.

Apart from higher vibration level compared to peers, the petrol engine is good to drive and fuel efficient and 1.5 years after Tiago launch, engine has no issues whatsoever right ?

Well Jagrover, I am confused between tigor and Tiago, the looks of tigor are simply stunning. I was following tigor couple of day ago and at first look i thought oh, which Merc is this, how couild i miss it? then saw the big tata logo. Realised its the tigor.

I would go with the looks, purely for tigor, but then Airbags are a must. So on one hand I have safety and on other Space and beauty, Very difficult choice. I my driving is city predominantly then i might go for Tigor. If its highway, stretch to Tigor XZO

From above numbers Tata is doing quiet well in CS segment with total 4356 (ZEST 2389 + TIGOR 1967).
They are now second to only Maruti in CS segment
Even though Zest is now selling more in the taxi market, numbers do count as other models Xcent, Aspire and Amaze figures are also due to the taxi segment sales. What more, new Dzire started coming in yellow plates even before seeing it in white boards. Mayank Pareek during Tigor launch said there is market for both the cars. Seems, that is true.

That high mounted LED strip and LED tail lamps. A delight to watch! [clap]

Buddies,

Update

My Tigor Petrol XZO has arrived at Stockyard. Will be performing the PDI tomorrow and fitting of accessories to be done by dealer + under-body coating to be done. The SA wanted me to pay the balance amount and take delivery tomorrow and requested for checking the car today if required. I told him today I am busy with the test match so will do so tomorrow and take delivery on Wednesday by paying balance amount and taking xerox of some documents. SA wanted online transfer of payment but dad said he'll pay by cheque. So, finally, I am happy to have fulfilled my commitment to Tigor, to TAI and to all the members who supported me in the buying process and all the readers of this forum who trusted my decision for buying the Tata Tigor and moving away from MSIL forever.

More updates on my new car to follow after doing the PDI tomorrow. Thanks a ton guys for the good wishes and respect. The car which I suggested to others based on it's merits, its the same one I bought for myself as well. Thanks.[:)]

Regards

Akash
