Tigor - A Tiago Owner's Perspective

I test drove the petrol Tigor XZO earlier this week and thought to share my observations with our community. My dealership folks were kind enough to bring the TD car to my place and were very nice and polite throughout the TD (3 of us test drove it). Note that these are purely my personal views based on the 20 minutes I got to spend with the car.

Observations:
- Vibrations (gear lever, seats, steering) are relatively very low compared to Tiago. Makes me envious [evil].
- Noise levels in cabin is way better. I even declared the horn was meek in Tigor, until I heard it from outside. It is of a different tone from Tiago but of the same loudness.
- Doors felt heavier than Tiago.
- Power delivery is about the same as Tiago, I did not feel much of a difference. Need to spend more time to notice subtle differences.
- Steering is even more lighter in Tigor, makes it a pleasure to use in crawling speeds.
- Gear shifts are buttery smooth and clutch is softer than Tiago. Tiago's gear shifts are notchy.
- Rear leg room has obviously increased. No change in rear seat bench, I would preferred a little more under thigh support.
- Boot space is very good, though I suspect it cannot hold two big (33Kg) suitcases for airport trips.
- Parcel tray is placed much higher than usual and I do not think it can be of much use. Though it could have been done to increase boot space.
- Fabric cushions for door pad arm rests (all 4 doors)

Headlights are awesome looking:

Car looks much better in flesh than in photos:

Looking from the back, I feel Tiago looks a lot better than Tigor, especially that black cladding in bumper looks alien.

Front Grill design is updated and looks refreshing:

Dashboard boasts off the infamous Harman audio system with its touch screen. Auto AC controls have a piano black finish.

Seat Fabric design has been changed but material and comfort levels are same. Notice the grey section of interior trims are a shade darker in Tigor.

All 4 doors get fabric inserts for arm rests [clap]:

Steering gets full black inserts, I prefer the silver inserts of Tiago:

No visible differences in the engine bay:

I did not feel any difference in Tigor during engine startup and idling:

Thanks @Prabhagar, for the comparo, will be very useful for both future Tigor and tiago buyers.

I would be interested in your take on the Tiago MT and AMT.

Nice and very relevant comparison there. The visual comparison makes it quite easy for the buyers to know as to what are the actual differences. In our official review too, I would definitely suggest a visual comparo of this type. Thanks for doing it buddy!

Hello Prabhagar, I too would like to add - together with all the others![:)] - that your brief comparo is an excellent one & would be of great value to future buyers of either model. One point which I wanted a little light on was the music system ("the infamous Harmann Kardon system") - did you mean that the system is good or is it not upto the mark?
Now there does not seem to be much reason not to choose one of the TM duo over the competing MNC models![:)]

Thank you all for your appreciative words. I was actually showing the differences between the two to my colleague, a prospective buyer who was the primary reason for this TD. Looking at the pictures later, I decided to share them to our forum as well. [:)]

I did not get a chance to test drive AMT. When I do, I will definitely share my feedback in our forum.

Harman is very good as expected. I did not notice any audio quality difference between the two variants (did not play with the touchscreen though). I used my own USB stick in Tigor so that I know how it sounds in my car. [glasses]

Definitely, lets send those test cars to Vipul very soon [;)]

Friends,

Due to the requirement of some updated finance documents of my dad from our bank's end, the financing from dealer has been postponed for some time and the purchase as well shall happen once the records get updated. Will keep you all informed. Its just matter of time buddies.

Friend's car has covered 500kms.
The car is indeed good to drive for sedate drivers. Suspension and handling is lovely.
I hope they find a solution for the car vibrations after a cold start. Still getting 9.7 kmpl as per the mid.

Dear azjain, Dont compare just because of car with similar safety features and similar dimension.

4)takes on breaker and path-holes very easily, While baleno is so poor in this, I did feel everything in baleno.
5)Yet to bring it to big highway stretch, but I found stable on high speed (You feel driving car a segment above).
6)Good breaking power.

Happy Motoring !
Congrats Sachin on your Tigor beauty. Regarding highway runs, it should be more or same as stable as Tiago. I have taken my Tiago to Pondicherry and occasional drives to airport. It's definitely stable and confidence-inspiring. Even keeping up with other cars is not really a big deal.

Hes talking about Tiago and not Tigor. Still 9.7 on the mid is very low for Tiago. In city run I get around 12-13kmpl normally tankful (mid anywhere 13-15.5) on 80-90% AC.
Yes it's a tiago and sorry i posted in the wrong thread. Will ask mods to move it to tiago section.
I am hoping it to improve. Waiting till 1500kms

Dear azjain, Dont compare just because of car with similar safety features and similar dimension.

Well I cant comment on safety on both the cars, but I have seen some of accidental pics of baleno and tiago , and found tiago is quite safe, So Tigor should fare more or same as tiago.
Please go through on tiago and baleno threads to know further.

Also I found Tigor offers more features then Baleno Delta trim on the same price except one more cylinder in engine. Please take a look on both the features. If you consider those features then price gonna increase in baleno trims.

Drive quality between Tigor :-

Cant comment much in just 220 Km but below are some points for tigor to consider:

1)I found tigor is easy to drive in city in city traffic.
2)Acceleration is quite good and suits my driving style (a sedate driving), Its not a car for racing style. (While Baleno is more refined and peppy in acceleration)
3)Taking corners were easy, well did not feel any different in both tigor and baleno.
4)takes on breaker and path-holes very easily, While baleno is so poor in this, I did feel everything in baleno.
5)Yet to bring it to big highway stretch, but I found stable on high speed (You feel driving car a segment above).
6)Good breaking power.

Happy Motoring !
Thanks for Reply.

Agree on the stability front.. but i beg to differ on feature list point. Baleno do offer great feature for same price. Baleno delta do have some feature that are not offered in Tigor XZ like Automatic Climate control and electrically retractable ORVMs.
Tigor XZ on the other hand has 5 inch display on offer.

Coming to Mileage claims, I am getting worried for the same. Many of my friends Maruti give 15+ mileage in CITY with AC. But here people are wishing to get 12-13.. [surprise]
