They feel that their recent products (Tigor/Tiago/Zest) are good enough to stand on their own, without that psychological crutch of inflated FE figures.
Sir, Zest is about 2.5 year old product. I believe you mean Hexa.[:)]

I'm keeping my fingers crossed (as I believe most of us are!) that their confidence is justified and that TM have a winner on their hands.
Sir, on the face of it, Tigor is a beautiful looking car with reasonable features to offer. Built Quality is strong too and believe me as I checked the XZ (o) variant today, the doors felt quite solid and convincing feel was there unlike some of the Japs on offer. Like Tiago, however, the doors needed a second helping to get closed on some occasions. I am sure, this one will be a success too. I believe, Zest had a semi"impact" on the buyers, but, Tigor is capable of a full "Impact" on it's buyers and owners.

Of course yes. My point is if tiago can get ARAI figures of 23.8 for petrol, why tigor couldn't? Yes weight increase should decrease FE but competition is able to extract same. Average indian buyer would have been mesmerized listening these figures
Its not only due to increase in weight but due to increase in size

Completely agree with you Rishabh. 3kmpl difference for both petrol and diesel both are much more than a mere 50kg weight difference can affect. This i due to revamped gearing. People have been complaining about less pickup of Tiago so Tata has altered the gearing. Some gearing probably have been made shorter and what I have observed in the reviews is better and smoother acceleration. To each his/her own.

@vicky, not completely sure but read somewhere that the AMP platform Tata is developing would make their future generations car lighter. Not completely sure but body strength won't be too much worse compared to the new cars.
Yes, you are partially correct however the redesigning of roof to increase headroom is to blame here.

About AMP, yes it will be lighter due to intelligent engineering and high strength light metal but heavy Doors and other body panels are/will not be a part of AMP.
The interesting thing (proud moment) is that AMP scored much better than the VW MQB thus VW group would be using Tata's AMP for their future cars. Deal already signed (MOU)[glasses]

They are 3kmpl lesser than hatchback sibling. They are less than expected. Another usp lost imo.
yes on papers its lost but in the cost of better built not tin can[:)]

Well yes. Xcent FE was better than prefacelift grand i10. Dzire almost equal to swift. Aspire almost equal to figo. Zest amost equal to bolt. Hence the disappointment. They are good figures though vis a vis competition.
I think the shell and dynamics remain same in the mentioned cars and was not altered to increase space. correct me if am wrong

That is the beauty of quoting ARAI figures! Your real life average never comes anywhere near ARAI's - but like you said, its great for mesmerising the buyer! My feeling is that TM is trying to be realistic with FE figures. They feel that their recent products (Tigor/Tiago/Zest) are good enough to stand on their own, without that psychological crutch of inflated FE figures. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (as I believe most of us are!) that their confidence is justified and that TM have a winner on their hands.
Sir, heavy doors, panels & better built will come with a price and am happy that Tata is not compromising here to get the browny points however the X0 platform is the culprit here and I think the writing on the wall is eminent as AMP will be the next in line.

Can anyone having the price list of Tigor Uttar Pradesh share it here. Because my dealer is a complete fool, he hasn't got the price list yet. Also till today he didn't knew that there is an optional variant also. First he confirmed with his manger than I told him and then he got convenced.

Yes, Akash - I did mean the Hexa![:)] But the fact is that both the Bolt & the Zest were TM products during their transition phase - when they were leaving the Indica/Indigo stage behind them & were finding their footing in this fiercely competitive new sector.

I believe you, and my gut instinct tells me that TM has turned the corner as far as their core engineering & R&D capabilities go. And once again I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this wealth of newly added core knowledge does not stumble on the shop floor/assembly line stage, with the ingrained, decades old, work culture.

But I'm an optimist and I believe that if Maruti-Suzuki can instill their unique work culture in their shop floor staff, then why can't TM and M&M - after all they (the work force) all come from the same Indian man-power pool.[:)]

Yes, we are all happy that TM is being realistic without compromising in vital areas (structural strength & build integrity).
I'm also hoping (as I mentioned in my reply to Akash) that this newly emerging TM ethos is carried over to the shop-floor/assembly-line work culture.

What are the prices of extended warranty and AMC?
Insurance and RTO is too much when compared to the other price lists available here.
After all this plus the extended warranty and AMC I think it will cost around 7 lakh 50 thousand. Its too much for XZ(O) and that too when it is Tata(no offence)

Waise the AMC and Extended Warranty is not mentioned in the list, but duration is 30K Kms or 2 years.

I am somehow not pleased with this attitude. Tata might tomorrow put a sporty engine in Tigor with automatic and price it at 8.5L. now you would complain. But it might not be for everyone and everyone might not spend for that. But some set of customers do exist who like Tata, have had good experiences with them and would buy them. If that was not the case no body would have bought a 22L Hexa. Maybe its not for you. And noone forces you to buy amc, extended warranty. If its more then you can buy without amc, extended warranty. Anyways Tata is providing more features at lower price than competition. But you can't expect everything cheap. If Tata comes with a 1 cr car tomorrow I might not like to spend 1cr but someone else might. Which car provides so many features with extended warranty and amc for 7.5L? None. Any why people have to compare prices of xzo only. You could have very well looked at xz if it suits yout Tata budget.

Man, first I would tell you that drink some chilled water or something. I think you loose your cool very quickly, so I will talk to you in a cool manner and expect the same from you.

Firstly I clearly mentioned no offence

Second is that I am too a big fan of Tata and hence I have booked the Tigor already.

Third man everyone can have their own opinion with something

Fourth if Tata or any company had brought a car with these many features and such a low price I would have gone with that.

Fifth I was just asking the price of AMC and extended warranty.

No offense intended

The BTVi programme Shifting gears has Swathi Jain interviewing Prathap Bose of TML on the Tiago and future design of cars-sadly no web link yet
Bose claims the interest in the Tigor and Hexa has been impressive, and thinks the Tigor will reignite interest in the compact sedan 'space'.
I feel they have prices the base versions ok, but the high end too high-my guess is 2-2500 units sales a month

Many people said that tiago won't sell more than 3k per month but it is. IMO tigor will also do around 5k if not more although it had huge potential to shake the segment but price is sliiiightly on higher side than expected (30k-35k).
