As most of you know, I am one among the admins of the Tiago owners Whatsapp group.
Now, there are two Tata employees working in manufacturing plants at Sanand and Pune each.
They have been a part of manufacturing of the KITE 5 mules and have seen and felt the car in person.
Their word is that the Kite 5 will have projector headlamps, great interiors as seen on Tiago and will retain most of the features seen on the concept car at the Auto expo. According to them, the car will be launched probably in Jan 2017.
They also added a suspense element saying, "The KITE 5 will have a feature which no car in it's segment has."
I tried my best in guessing and . I might need the help of more brains to think on this.
Can someone try to guess better?
All that I can maximum think of is a Notchback rear opening, which currently no car in it's segment has. (But I don't think they will re-engineer the whole opening mechanism for this setup.)
Try guessing something better guys.

Well some of the features i can think off could be
1. boot open and close at a click of button. (like in audis et al)
2. Notch back with rear glass to opening up
3. front sensors (but doesnt make sense for small nose)
4. cornering headlamps
5. Sun roof
6. 5 star global NCAP rating

But my question is if this car is also going to be launched in 2017, Nexon in 2017 then what are we seeing in 2016? Just Tiago?

Cruise control, i feel its a very useful feature for highway trips and would actually want it in KITE5 along with an early launch.

Sunroof is a good guess and so is cruise control. But is it logical to have cruise control on a small car? That too with 3 cylinder engines? Sunroof isn't a very practical feature. I guess it has to be some innovative boot opening or infotainment technology. cornering lamps aren't a boasting feature either, are they? Oof I'm excited.

I can think of:

1) Mild hybrid with new patent Tata aquired recently
2) twin turbo motor
3) Fast back design
4) 6 speed gear box
5) personalization options ie ac vents and parts in diffrent color
6) Smart parking system which was shown in pixel concept as I heard it from someone that its ready with Tata to use (Not sure though on it)
7) my personal favourite/wish a sport version hot engine in black edition ala Jaguar- lol

Oh I forgot amazing looking rear spoiler with led lights, I saw it on the concept version

Jokes apart omg the whole car is segment first. It will altogether start a new segment the cheapest/most affordable sedan of India or World

Saw an ad in yesterday's newspaper where Tata is looking for new dealers in Gujarat and Mumbai, in that they mentioned that Tata will be launching 2 cars every year till 2020 and beyond. So, if Kite 5 is scheduled for 2017 then we can expect Nexon or Hexa this year. We will probably see Hexa this year as I believe Nexon's design is very futuristic and ahead of the time. Also putting anything against Brezza at present may prove costly. On the other side, if they price Hexa lower than Cresta then there is a chance for Tata to fill up old Innova gap.

So imo Tiago & Hexa for 2016 and Kite5 & Nexon for 2017. New Bolt & Pelican for 2018 may be..

My guess would be a head up display. Garmin has a navigation unit retailing for about 11k. Minus the GPS setup, such a device to display speed, range and odo information as well as the navigation tulips fed from the Harman unit via can bus, shouldn't be more than 3-4k at the cost to OEM level.

Using this minor cost investment Tata can easily charge a 10-15k premium while making a BMW X6 rivaling feature available.

Well most probably as Kasscon said the mild hybrid patent which tata has that would be put in this car. That should be most logical and appropriate feature that will also give some increase in FE.

the mild hybrid system will have three major benefits

1)Exemption in odd even rule
2)Tax benefits
3) High mileage figure as mentioned by vikyjoshi


and Segmeñt first diffrentiation for Tata to show and market it well.

@modifii - In 2016 Tata will launch new Tata Xenon(based on Hexa) and Hexa, after that Kite5 followed by Nexon in 2017

Tata KITE 5 spied with Projector headlamps and Touchscreen unit by Tbhp member.
The rear door seems HUGE for a compact sedan.
Looks like Tata is positioning the KITE as their ace in the CS segment and Zest would be downgraded to replace the Indigos and Manza in the market.
No surprises even if the Kite comes with 1.5L Diesel unit!

I feel these are the only 2 possible additions to the KITE 5 over TIAGO.
Rest all are not quite possible at this price point. Well 1.5L engine in this car is not possible. But maybe we'll see it in the X451 luxury hatch to compete against BALENO and i20 Elite or its preceedors.
