Re: My Fantastico: Tata Tiago XZ 1.2 (P) Sunburst Orange

Dealership Experience:

I wont call it as a service experience. As it was a monsoon service camp by Tata.

Right after taking the delivery of the car, i kept getting calls for Tiago camp.

I told them about the rear fog lamp, which they told me that they would look into it.

Took an appointment and went to the Prerana Motors at Peenya, Bangalore.

I reached early morning around 9:20 am. The SA mentioned ECU update in the form.

Updated him about the rear fog lamp, that was non-functional.

It was almost 45 minutes, no sign of anyone going near the vehicle.

Finally the CRM came to me introducing himself. I told him that vehicle is unattended and its already 45 minutes.

After this they took the car inside. As soon i entered the service area.

The SA realising car was unattended, realises there is no ECU update.
And tells car has come for monsoon camp.

I told him to fix fog lamp issue, and i would not require any other services.

Summary of this visit: No resolution to the fog lamp issue, nor the ECU was updated. The car was on the ramp for close to 30 minutes.

Post that DIT some technician they call did not arrive for cool 2 hours.

Around 12.30 he declares, Tata has not provided switch for rear fog lamp.

This took 2 hours of his skillful diagnostics.

My plan to leave the dealership early went for a toss.

By then they lined up Tiago for wash at 12.45 pm and it was lunch time.

They took cool 2 and half hours for spraying water, mind you interior cleaning was not done. By this time i had lost my half a day of time to track these guys.

They call you for the camp, but no work was done properly.

At 4.30 pm they just washed the car and no polish was applied to the tyres.

When i asked for the same, a guy came with a diesel on waste cloth. I told him to just throw it away.

SA was no where found to be seen.

It was one of the worst experience with Prerana motors.

Left the dealership at 4:30 pm.

I would rate them 4/10.

Did it end here. No, more to come.... Wash was not proper and to be continued.

Re: My Fantastico: Tata Tiago XZ 1.2 (P) Sunburst Orange

Post camp got a call from Tata Motors, it was some Tata CRM head from Kerala.

Vented out the feedback of so called camp.

He insisted that my Tiago will get a wash at my place.

Some chemical wash.

Again the Prerana motors is ill equipped with the washing materials.

Two guys from dealership came to my house and cleaned the vehicle.

I gave them water, shampoo and micro fibre cloth.

They cleaned the car at my premises, a week after the camp.

This time cleaning was better.

Some updates that i missed earlier.

041.JPG

Bells and Whistles.
042.JPG

Real world mileage in bumper traffic. I am getting around 8.4-8.5 kmpl in Bangalore traffic. A commute of 21 kms took me around 2 - 3 hours when this mileage was calculated.

Look at the tankful-tankful dates.
002.JPG

Every 6th day it needs fuel.
045.JPG

These days using the ECO mode in crawling traffic with A/C. The MID shows 9.5 kmpl on ODO. Will post the next mileage after tankful method.

Tiago issues encountered till now:
Just before i was recovering from the disappointing visit to the dealership.
There was an issue of wiper sprayer not spraying water.
This happened during early morning drive to the office, initially thought that water in the windshield tank was over.
Some wehre post lunch, visited the parking lot of office with 2 cans of water.
Filled the tank till brim with fresh water.
That day it was raining heavily, which means muck of the vehicle in your front on the windshield.
Damn water would not spray the water.
I was bit worried why the water was not spraying, inspite of water filled to the brim.
I could hear the motor working, but water not being sprayed.
I could not stop on the way back to home, as it was too much traffic everywhere.

Reason diagnosed once i reached home.
012.JPG
Tata could have missed the scenario when the bonnet is opened to a maximum extent, the hose connecting the pipe is giving up.
013.JPG

Dropped a mail to the customer care team, marking design team of Tiago.
With the scenario missed during their testing. They acknowledged it through my dealer.

Week on week, Tiago is demanding my attention.

Will post the other two niggles that i faced in the last two weeks.

Issue 2 - Mud Accumulating near Petrol Inlet area:
Last week, i cleaned my car. Took cool 3 hours to clean the Tiago.

Post cleaning, opened the fuel lid and found out muck accumulating near the petrol inlet area.

I first thought that the water could have splashed inside. Later was shocked to notice that the muck was entering from the rear wheel ARCH area.

When the cleaning was being done, the water and dirt is entering this area.

Again passed this feedback to Tata motors to which they did respond. Later got call from the dealer asking for images of the issue. And they would take up my feedback with Tata through their DIT.

Awaiting for resolution during first service.

Issue 3 - Harman Music Malfunctioned:

The Harman music system conked off this Tuesday.
As the very next day was a holiday, the buck was passed on to harman team.
Instead they could have made an attempt to solve the problem, checking the fuse.
They took cool 72 hours to realize this.
Finally they visited my office and checked for fuse. The fuse had got loosened from the slot below steering wheel.

If the harman system conks of reverse parking system goes off too.

Later was solved only by yesterday by personnel from Prerana Motors - Kudlu gate.

mukeshus@ seems like all the issues are trying to pop up in your beauty only[;)]

However the good part is that Tata is providing support and trying hard to keep up. And one thing am happy about it is that at least you providing the feedback and Tata can fix them for all wherein lot of owners live with these kind of issues or generally ignore to flag/report.

The same muck incident happened with Overdrive and they have written half chapter on this. Hope Tata make changes and make a recall for this issue soon.

Please keep on updating all the actions and experience of yours.

Great to hear that mile milemuncher. I did call them when my Harman music malfunctioned. They did not take initiative to correct it.
KHT is nearby from my office. But I prefer staying with the car during service.

Hi Kasscon,
Yes I am in touch with Regional CRM called Vickram from Tata Motors. On reaching him my problem got resolved within 12-14 hours. The personnel came to my office parking and resolved this fuse issue.
But the speed in which they respond to is quite surprising, as the dealer instead of doing initial analysis of whether fuse had gone was not analysed. Which caused 48 hours of inconvinience to me. Later reaching to regional CRM, they came to my place and solved it.

Please share, the guys who came to your office are regular guys from dealership or from Harmon?
however I can think of one reason that dealership guys didn't want to put hands to Harmon as its pretty high end and complicated system and we might not know that they haven't got trained for it. Experience is what is an issue here as I can interpret as its a new system got introduced in Tiago. I might be wrong though.

Hey guys,
After the last tankfull and moderate traffic.
The mileage is now 10.10 kmpl. This time most of the time in traffic have been using ECO mode.

Distance covered after last tankful - 258 kms/ 25.54 litres = 10.10 kmpl.
This time filled at IOC.

That seems exremely low for a 1000km covered car.
Have you been revving hard? What were the figures on highway drives?

@Mukeshus - That seems to be on a lower side. What is the mileage shown in MID.

My two cents advice - [1] Please check the tyre pressure. [2] Are you resting your foot on clutch. [3] Are you revving the engine hard. [4] Try changing the gears at 2000-2300 rpm.

No not at all. Its all because of Bangalore traffic.
I have not taken it on highways, will do it post getting the engine oil changed in the 1st service.

1. I have got it filled with Nitrogen on day 3. So would look into tyre pressure in the upcoming month.

2. MID shows around 14 kmpl to 16 kmpl, which is somewhat instantaneous based on the traffic condition. But what i follow is tankfull nearing cutoff.
Not resting my foot on clutch while moving. With ECO mode in city traffic RPM reaches upto 2500-3000 rpm.

Earlier the mileage was around 8.5 kmpl -9.5 kmpl with City Mode (A/C).

After using ECO mode (A/C) it is giving the 10.7 kmpl.

Have taken appointment for first service this Thursday.
