Tiago petrol's ARAI mileage is 23.8 which is higher than Celerio, old Alto, Baleno etc. I'm interested to know how Tata is getting the mileage inspite of Tiago being heavier. Does anyone have any idea about it?

Yes this is usually done during first service. None of us have details on what changed after this update. I never noticed any difference in engine, pickup, mileage etc. Everything felt same as it was before the update.

Guys, I am going for PDI today for my Petrol Tiago XZ. I wanted to know if someone can help me with the contact of any outside insurance guys. I can use that to negotiate with showroom guys. Showroom is charging 20k around for insurance.
I read some where on the forum that Royal Sundaram are charging around 16K.

Thanks in advance.
Go with Coverfox. I got for 15k with full IDV

well the vibration issues is resolved by ECU update. I guess you too will get that ECU update on your car in your first service (should you be willing to go for MArch car)

Now if you dont have Alloys, you would expect a good amount of discount too.

So for me if you want a car in urgency, and that you are willing to forego the Alloys then march car should not be an issue. Ensure that odo reading is under 100km preferebly under 60km.

The official discount from tata motors is 13k for a diesel variant. Not sure if i can bargain for more in this case. thanks for your reply.

I have not seen the car yet so not aware of odo reading. Just checked the chassis number and got to know manufactured date. I had an understanding that vibration issue might be more of mechanical issue than the software one which could be solved with an update.

Thanks for your reply

This is XZ O variant having no alloys and price cut of 13k and thats it.
This is due to the supply constraint of alloys from OEM.
March car shouldnt be an issue at all as the 1st servicing will cover the ECU update and rest all is resolved. Also, Its with Petrol and diesel is mostly silent and as per 3 pot Diesel Engines

The vibration issues were only on petrol engines. Diesel engines are equipped with balancer shafts and are quiet And steady from beginning. Even people who drove during media drive appreciated the NVH levels. If you are fine with March manufactured car than it's okay.

I would like to share my experience with gear lever noise/vibrations on my Tiago XZ Petrol. Hope this clears out some of our confusions.

My Tiago is manufactured in May-2016 and it did have lot of gear lever noise and vibrations at idle RPM as well as rattling under dashboard at around 1500 RPM (above 2nd gear). This continued even after my first service at 1100KM which included ECU software update.

I raised a complaint in TMSC android app and the next day their service rep was at my doorstep. He patiently noted down my issues during a short test drive, gave me a loaner car (Bolt), did the paperwork and took my Tiago to service center. Next day I got my Tiago back and no more vibrations. [clap]

Below are the before and after videos of my gear lever at idle RPM:

Hi Prabhagar,

Looks like gear stick is fixed with FeviKwik [;)].

Did you ask what caused the issue and how it is rectified ?
Haha yes I wonder if they did something like that. When asked about technical solution, they said it was done by reducing free play of gear stick. Another WhatsApp owner saw the reps adding dampening like material near gear stick cables. Not sure what the actual technical solution was.

Mileage is dependent on few factors like engine dynamics, aerodynamics and weight of the car. Most of the car manufacturers reduces weight of the car to improve mileage as that is the easiest way of achieving it, also it reduces the cost for manufacturer. A-Star used to return better mileage than Alto in spite of being a bigger engine and heavier car due to its aerodynamics.
Here in Tiago's case I assume aerodynamics and engine refinement would have been ment for higher mileage, which is a good sign compared to weight reduction and compromise on safery .
