Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review

Hi All,

I am new to this community. Looking to own a Tiago.. but have couple of questions in my mind..

Anyone noticed the black box on front passenger footwell area? I feel it kills most of the leg space and also its sharp edges could be harmful. I took Test drive today, car feels awesome in segment. But this black box and the rear passenger headroom is a concern for me. My brother is 6'2", he can't fit properly in rear seat.
In dilemma to choose from Tiago XZ or WagonR VXI(O).. Suggest..

Regards,
Satya
Hello Bro.
The black box on co-passenger footwell is fine with me, it doesn't have sharp edges as far as I remember.
Talking of rear headroom, we are small heighted family so no problem with us again.

My uncle owns a WagonR CNG, maybe his driving can be cursed, I feel a lot of vibrations and engine noise, Tiago Suspension is much better than WagonR anyday.
Also WagonR breadth is less than its height so cases of toppling is increased.

Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review

I got a call from my TASS for a service feedback and I poked them about the recent fuel inlet pipe replacement that's going rounds in owners' social networking groups. They confirmed my VIN is part of this replacement and I will be called once they receive the spare in their inventory. Note that this does not apply to all Tiago's, just those initial production batches (mine is May manufactured). I believe they are replacing the fuel inlet pipe with a proper seal to prevent mud/muck from entering into fuel cap area.
I got mine replaced yesterday. Either they do not know the actual reason for this change or not willing to disclose it. One person said its to prevent mud/muck entering fuel cap area and another said it's not (both from same service center).

Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review

Hi Prabhagar sir,

Posted same thing on Tata Tiago Review & Pictures: Tata's Tiara, but posting it hoping I could get quick reply/solution from you

Today I had horrible experience with my Tiago 2nd service.. Tiagans I need your help pls

I booked 2nd service via TMSA app at 10:30 am 12/12 at Concorde Motors, Uppal on Saturday 10/12, got confirmation and given service booking number. Bought car from Venkatarama motors, but their service center is about 35 KM far, Uppal is 15 so prefered closer one.

I explained all the complaints in App:
1. Body vibrations.
2: Reverse gear shifts hard.
3. Gear lever vibrates in neutral (not able to post video, dont know how to post)
4. Mud accumulation near fuel tank area.
5. Steering wheel slighly tilted towards left.
6; Door knob pulls out of socket.

Reached there by 10:35, went to reception, but I was told to wait for sometime as other cars already in queue, I said okay...

At 11:05, one guy came to me asking me details and what are complaints.

I said I had already explained in App, he did not bother about it and I had to again tell all complaints. He gave me new service booking number and said by 2-3 o'clock car wil be ready.

I wonder why the service app then??? when they cannot accomodate requested time slot and did not even cosider complaints through it.

Coming to service part, MY major disappointment here... they took almost 8 hours, got car at 6 pm, horrifying they did not solve few problems, even made some worse...

1. Body vibrations: Feeling more vibrations after servicing... even around 2000 rpm, I can feel little vibrations wheras car was very very smooth before
2. Revere gear: Got it rectified +++
3. Gear lever: I got answer, Sir being 3-pot engine, it is normal to behave like that (is it true???)
4. Mud accumulation: Said problem solved, but after going home I see they did not even clean mud near that area (I feel they did not touch that part)
5: Steering wheel: BIG BIG disappointment, now it is tilted towards right bit and car drags left... need to fix it ASAP.
6: Door knob: Seems fixed, have to look coming days

They cleared 2 problems and made 4 worse... I have to spend my full day there almost 9 hours and no one bothered about telling updates whether car is ready or when will be... Every time I got same answer/question "who is service advisor?" and he is not available, "let you know once he comes and update us"

Whenever he is seen, he says 1 hour, 30 min, 20 min, 15 min, etc etc but no clear picture...

finally got car at 6 pm, I was in hurry did not check for anything and while driving noticed that they even did not clean windshiled or glasses... full of marks, getting reflections from other cars... I had to pull back and clean it. One more thing noticed that car drags to left side. It was absolutely fine before, just steering tilted sligthly to left, and now it is not centered but tilted to right and car pulls left side.

Pls help me Tiagans, where to complain about this service and how to fix my problems... and suggest me what can be fixed and what cannot be (like gear lever vibration being 3-pot normal??) If it is normal, okay

Thank you

Complaint on the App again and this time make the TASS people come to your place, rather than you taking your car there.

As far as I know, TASS is supposed to close all raised complaints within 2 days.

So, don't budge go ahead and raise complaints.

Also, in the feedback rate them 1.

@Murali_P

First of all, Prabhagar isn't too old. So please don't call him Sir. Even he might agree with me.

Anyways, let's come to your problems,

1. Gear lever vibrations :
It is a major problem with 3-pot engines, and I especially noticed it in diesel cars more. But when I TD the Grand i10 diesel, I couldn't find any. Maybe because it was just under 1k km on odo? But our Accent used to vibrate a little and we can feel it at higher rpms!

2. Body vibrations : I TDed both petrol and diesel Tiago, and I did feel the vibrations but they were not bothersome. So, you need to get it done with SCs.

This is all I have to say. Rest I leave it to people who own the car!!

Hello sir,

Thank you for your reply...

first of all, I call all Sir for respect, not for age :)

My concern is if it is normal to gear lever to behave like this?? if it is, I am least bothered.. same with body vibrations or anything can be done to fix them?

I feel wheel alignment is culprit for car dragging to left... anyhow, raised complaint, will get them fixed

I am quite happy with car, but these service people... MAJOR disappointment from the start I booked car and continues....

Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review

^^ I understand you calling Sir out of respect, but we all are friends here. No need to be so formal.

Let's come to the point, the gear level vibration is normal in 3-potter. I have driven quite a few 3-potters and almost all of them have some or less vibrations. If it is so excessive to the point of irritation, then you should get it checked. Otherwise, it's fine.

Body vibrations - You definitely should get it checked!

Please do wheel alignment in nearby bosch or other decent wheel alignment shops.

I agree, TATA needs to improve service, otherwise no matter how good their products are, this will bring them down.

Check out video for gear lever vibration
https://youtu.be/VKe2oVc7RnU
is it normal?
Hi Murali,
In line with furious_driver's replies, I also feel your gear lever vibrations are normal. The same goes with body vibes, I too feel them but not to the extent of non-tolerance.
For comparison, here's how my gear lever vibrated along with an irritating noise:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGGbUE1qIww
TASC arrested the vibes completely but after few weeks it lost its damping (I believe) and is exactly as yours now. Needless to say, your TASC's attitude definitely needs to change. Please raise a complaint via app/phone/email against your dealer and make sure they understand this is a consumer oriented marketplace.

My car is @ Prerana Motors Kudlu Gate Service Station from 3 days, as Fuel Neck part has not arrived yet [frustration]

Also, on asking the service manager why part is getting replaced, he told to avoid leakage[roll]

Not sure what is the reason for this replacement.

I wonder why they accepted your car when they did not have the part on hand. It only takes 30 minutes to swap out. If at all possible, please take your car back from them. It's the last place I would want leave it overnight unless it's undergoing major repair work.

Thanks Bros (I hope can call)

I raised complaint on app and got call from dealer this morning asking whether they should send SA to pick the car, I said I will come personally.

Went there, this time reception was good straight from manager level. She escalated team lead to attend my problem. They did make required changes and we went for test ride, but still the problem persists... car drags to left side and I felt steering bit hard this time. They interchanged tires and made few more changes and more importantly re-programmed steering... again went for drive, I immediately noticed steering is back to normal and car is absolutely fine (but I have to check in flat non-traffic road for full clarity), but appreciable improvement is there for sure.

Regarding vibrations, I even felt little vibrations before service (livable) at low speeds, but after service those were present also at around 2000 rpm whereas you know it was like butter around 2000 rpm.. Unfortunately, not able to go beyond 1500 being in city traffic (will check later).

Regarding gear lever, some say no vibrations and some say its normal, anyhow I am okay with it...

Overall, I feel most of my problem solved now..

Once again thanks for advice brothers

I reported two more issues,

1. Glovebox is loose, while driving glovebox door rattles.
2. Cabin light was showing some fluctuation, looks like voltage issue.

1st one they told that TATA has sent directions to all TASS to fix dashboard, as some Tiago owners have reported glovebox door getting open automatically during driving [frustration].

2nd one they are not able to diagnose.

Amidst all these they ran out of Fuel Neck part.

I called up SA today to check the status, he told if required I can come and collect car today.

But, I did not go and told him to keep the car till part arrives and call me once all issues are fixed.

It's the last place I would want leave it overnight unless it's undergoing major repair work. -> May I know why you gave this statement ?

Glad to know your complaint worked [thumbsup]. Though the need for a complaint should not have occurred in the first place, this at least breaks the perception of TASC. I agree they are not the best out there but need these boosters to get them to work.
My Tiago is due for second service at 6 months now (ODO - 7300 km), hopefully I will get it done this week. Will keep you guys posted on how it goes.

1. Glovebox is loose, while driving glovebox door rattles.
1st one they told that TATA has sent directions to all TASS to fix dashboard, as some Tiago owners have reported glovebox door getting open automatically during driving [frustration].
I am aware of dashboard rattles but glovebox going loose is news to me. Hopefully its an easy fix.

2. Cabin light was showing some fluctuation, looks like voltage issue.
2nd one they are not able to diagnose.
It could be a loose contact in the cabin switch. I had this issue too and after slightly touching the switch, it got corrected. It appears to happen once a month or so in my case. Please keep us posted on your solution.

It's the last place I would want leave it overnight unless it's undergoing major repair work. -> May I know why you gave this statement ?
I have seen the way they drive and handle our cars within their premises. Even during my recent visit for fuel pipe replacement, I saw one guy lugging my engine very badly [angry]. Adding to this, there is potential for your car or its parts to be used to troubleshoot/isolate other cars' issues.
