It is better to come to a conclusion that for those safty is first and foremost priority W8 is clear choice if they are ready to spend extra.and should stop comparing is with less safty featuers equipped storme vx provided they are ready to compromise on comfort.

Similarly for those who are ready to compromise on comfort and safty features both can go for scorpio.
Any thing in between can go for Storme.

@ RAJA.

My SUMO grande for eg, I slot it into gear and release the clutch without applying the throttle. The car does around 10 kmph in first, 20 kmph in second and 50-60 kmph in 5th gear on a flat land. Thats the torque at work.

When therz an incline, the engines tendency to not stall helps the car to keep climbing. BUT in a no road, ie off road trails, situation. This is not enough. You will have to feed the throttle to get the car moving above the rutts and stuff. If you are not used to off roading, then the hill ascent will come handy. This stuff keeps the car moving up the hill without a hitch.

Xover and navnit
Concorde motors in Mumbai has a basement were they park their cars , and to get out it has a very steep incline ( I don't know what degree that is ) , the storme without I giving any throttle easily , happily climbed it without any fuss . I seriously gave 0 throttle . So here the torque was doing the job ?
What different would have hill ascent feature helped in this scenario ? Btw the storme was vx 4x2 and not 4x4
When you regulate the Hill climb assist feature it holds the brakes little longer in middle of the incline(if somehow you've stopped bang in middle of the steep incline) allowing the driver to accelerate without the risk of the vehicle rolling back.[:)]

But I agree the torque of Varicor is awesome.Btw,Automatic Aria and Storme will have these two featues by default.[:)]

+1 Hill ascent or climb feature is nothing to do with torque , its just a mechanism which holds your brake for a couple of seconds preventing the roll backwards(helpful if you are at a traffic jam in hills or even in offroad conditions), good feature for those who cant be too nimble between the brake/accelerator and clutch (or who havent learnt the old school cabbies technique of a big cross foot  )

Hill Descent similarly doesnt let you know roll down excessively fast down a slope.

What everyone is referring is rather low end torque and nothing to do with above 2 features. Storme doesnt have these features.

Regarding the slope angle, i think we did better than that on our road test!

Bangalore,
I think there is some confusion.Hill Descent and Hill hold features work with automatically applying brakes until you move up the hill(in hill hold) and in hill descent mode you just need to steer the car while the ECU will control the throttle and brakes whilst going down an incline.I think Navnit is correect, even Indigo e-CS comes with a special feature where the ECU provides power to the car when it feels that it is going to stall while climbing up an incline.I think this may be the case here.
This is the point buddy ECU controls throttle of STORME, when I upload video it will be clear since Driver him self mentioned ECU of storme.

By the way the so called ECU control is actually a TPS(in most cases) at work. Its present in most modern vehicles(including most small cars), the good news that comes with this is then becomes a little easier(more of a stepping stone) to have further features like cruise control, traction control etc.

Guys I was just checking the pricing of Storme and XUV and found out that even in Bangalore LX(9.95L) is almost 2 lakh cheaper than XUV W6(11.87L),though I gotta say that LX hasn't got a'bags. But still since ABS/4 discs is there in LX variant,I think its VFM quotient is inimitable!

IMHO ( purely subjective ) storme lx is one hell of a vfm SUV . Its cheaper then duster , priced more then Scorpio sle but has more features , comfort and space . Superb ride quality , better road presence and looks more richer and upmarket . Better plastic quality and refinement too .

The more we go higher then storme starts losing on features , and then only USP left is 4x4 and ride quality . And xuv starts becoming more attractive because of its features and safety equipments .

Although the xuv is pricer it makes sense for some 1 who has more money to spend .
Here I would say early adopters like IR were damn lucky to get a w8 I think in lesser price then the current w6 which makes me think at times past birth good deeds help in this birth [evil]

But if we believe the speculations of Storme upgrade with 2DIN, ESP, more airbags, etc. then I think the price of Storme would come much near to the XUV500. Then we would have great battle here. [evil]

But I dont think thats going to happen anytime soon. RnD is not cheap for all of this. And this will make the aria even more pointless. I know aria does not sell anyway but still tata will do something about it later.

Not to forget automatic variants in both Storme and XUV coming pretty soon. And I have already said that even though Storme is already competing with both XUV and Scorpio, until Mahindra launches the all new Scorpio its real rival will be XUV5OO(no matter how much the purists may fume about it)in the eyes of the layman atleast who is not bothered about 4X4 vs AWD stuff:-)

I do not think it will happen so quickly Dharmesh, please remember they are TATA's [lol] they take their own sweet time, so till then people will opt XUV with more features and safety equipment, however the things which pull towards Storm are the pricing of LX, comfort ride, all disk brakes, Looks(subjective)[:)]

Why is the Scorpio not a rival for storme ? they do come in similar price brackets for certain models .

Scorpio is indeed a rival, but not a worthy rival(in my humble opinion:P) as it's quite evident by the review of IR that except features/low end torque Scorpio has literally no advatages over Storme. And Storme LX annihilates Scorpio sle when it comes to sheer VFM atleast on the paper.

EDIT: Raja, clear your PM quota bro, can't send you any more PMs.Thanks
