Re: Tata Storme vs Mahindra XUV500 - Which One To Choose?

I have been a quite follower of this thread, quite follower since I never posted anything on this thread.
The thread purpose is to help people choose between Storme vs XUV and not to declare a winner or drag the thread into a Monocoque V/S Ladder Chassis. Every one here has his/her personal view which is respected by me.

PEACE[/.

+1000 well said .

.

This was already achieved by Raja when me and he did test drive in mumbai. Storme climbed the flyover bridge in 5th gear without any acceleration. [clap] The veichle was VX 4X2. I am not sure if it was the ascent and descent feature or just initial torque of the vehicle.

Speed was something 35KMPH and RPM was 900(approx). Here is the post.

No that was the torque , mr ranger is saying something else, lets see the pics and videos .

Hi all suggest me how to convert MP4 to someother format where video size will reduce. my phone records video in MP4 for 6min it consumed 256MB memory, so please suggest me any tool is present to convert, either in windows or Android but it must be free.
it will make my work easy and we gonna have another review of storme shortly.

use a software called handbrake.

and coming back to the hill ascent/descent feature. it has to be explictly mentioned which i do not find in the storme. what you might have experienced is low end torque in 4 X4 mode.

but will wait for the videos.

@ Ranger,

Its not hill descent/ascent, but the low end torque. The Dicor, now varicor engine has a superb low end torque. My Sumo Grande can climb an inclination of 35-40 degs without the throttle. NOW with low ratio gearbox and better torque , the Safari can do a better job.

The 'sense of incline/decline' is what TATA calls, passive throttle control. This feature prevents vehicle from stalling in gears. AND this throttle assist+low ratio gearbox+low end torque helps you climb the 65 degree inclines without a fuss.

thanks for the tool will try with this.

I know low end may play roll here, But Driver specially told this to us that now storme going to increase its torque level by sensing slope automatically( my reaction was  and asked AUTOMATICALLY !!!!). I was surprised, even if it is low end torque but for beast like storme which weights almost 3k kg (with 4 people on board) is tough job to climb such slope, I even noticed strome kicking its throttle automatically and it creased its speed linearly.

vehicle was in 4h 2nd gear(if I remember properly), driver said 4L should not be engaged if roads are not soft( he means when it is not required for the beast).

I asked him twice in shock but what ever the technology was the truth is STROME with 4wheel drive engaged can pull like any thing.

but will wait for the videos.
Sure Superbad if your software works for me then it is piece of cake for to post.

Every one here has his/her personal view which is respected by me. But what I can’t take and accept is when people try to defame a vehicle for a vehicle which they like. You have the right to make a decision for yourself not others.
+1000 .Very well said. That will only bring down the quality of the content presented. Personal subjective views could be posted but it gets worst when people try to justify or defend their own subjective opinions.

In the sub 20L,people interested in a 4x4 SUV for the purpose for off road adventures Storme VX 4x4 is a good bet and should be shortlisted along with Scorpio VLX 4WD and Scorpio LX 4WD for the Test Drive. One just needs to make a decision based on TD , price and the ASS in their local area.

If not for 4x4, nothing beats XUV5OO in its segment. If one can't afford an XUV due to financial constraints, Storme LX could be short listed amongst Scorpio and Duster for Test Drives to make a decision.

@ RAJA.

When you press the hill ascent button, the electronics will regulate the throttle and the TC will check for optimum traction in each wheel and distribute torque to required wheel to keep the vehicle in motion when going uphill.

When the hill descent button is pressed, the electronics will guide the car down the slope at a certain (safe) speed with the help of ABS or TC depending on the setup.

In both the cases the driver has nothing to do but steer the car.

In the SAFARI, therz no such feature.

@ Ranger.

If you have experienced 4X4 for the first time, then you ought to be blown away by the low end torque.

I think there is some confusion.Hill Descent and Hill hold features work with automatically applying brakes until you move up the hill(in hill hold) and in hill descent mode you just need to steer the car while the ECU will control the throttle and brakes whilst going down an incline.I think Navnit is correect, even Indigo e-CS comes with a special feature where the ECU provides power to the car when it feels that it is going to stall while climbing up an incline.I think this may be the case here.

Xover and navnit

Concorde motors in Mumbai has a basement were they park their cars , and to get out it has a very steep incline ( I don't know what degree that is ) , the storme without I giving any throttle easily , happily climbed it without any fuss . I seriously gave 0 throttle . So here the torque was doing the job ? What different would have hill ascent feature helped in this scenario ? Btw the storme was vx 4x2 and not 4x4

@ theferrarifan

Hahahahaha why will some 1 take it as a offence ? It is what it is , you gave your estimation its fine and dandy .

I actually used a protractor and measured the pic. Around 40degree. Still impressive.
