COngrats for your beast.
Milegae is all depend on traffic volume, driving style, fuel quality used.

In my Aria 4x4 which is almost 200kgs heavy than yours beast iam able to acheive around 13-14 KMPL in Delhi Gurgaon Tarffic. In peak hours.
So just wait for some time and you will be rewarded soon.

@Mukesh,

If you want my opinion on Storm Vs Scorpio Vs XUV Vs Duster, my answer is just close your eyes and buy STORM without any doubts !! as I also believe that it will have very less initial niggles and will be defenately a VFM. BUT before this

Please go to showroom, do a TD of each of them in all aspects and decide based on what your heart says[:)]

As I know you can measure the real FE after 10000km in a diesel car, so I feel you can touch 14kmpl in your Storm once it is close to 10k mark !![:)]

A wider tyre could also affect FE adversely. Guys if you upsize your stock tyres or and change the stock steel to aftermarket alloys does that void the warranty, especially on suspension/breaks ?

@Rajdeep. Where did you get them changed,at ASS? What difference do you feel with the changed tyres,if any?

Re: Tata Safari Storme Breaks Cover (Launch Coverage: Pg.322+)

@ Tornado Have you taken TD at National Auto wheels?
Yes it is National Autowheels Pune. Here is a quote which mentions how it began.

Is it possible that some one wants to talk about the storme and facing a dilemma.?
The dilemma was about where to post , on the ' Storme breaks its cover officially' or on Surfer's thread.

My knowledge about Storme is really limited. I have not read the thread at all except from page no. 427 to 435 , all these pages are just flooded with compliments to the neo-owners ,expectant owners of Storme .And my last post on that thread exposed my illiteracy about storme by fellow TAI n Raja.
I had posted a pic of a white storme in october 23 , taken by me at night time in pune, on the page no.351 .

The reason behind this illiteracy is that when I joined TAI ,this pirticular thread had so many pages of information about 'yet to be launched Storme' that I labeled it as a 'spool'.And by now the spool has been converted in to a text book. And I need to devote lot of time and concentration to study it as mere reading will not suffice.

Any way , received a call from TATA Co. two days the person told me that TD car is available in Pune showrooms,.and they can arrange it whenever I desire. He asked me if I have any queries about Storme.
I asked him how to pronounce the word ' storme ', storm or storm -A or stormee?
He said it is pronounced as ' storm'.I was little disappointed , as I would have loved to pronounce it as stormA/stormee.

Then, I asked him about fate of Safari (dicor) , he said it will continue as before.

Yesterday and today again I received a call from a showroom and TATA s too about TD.
So today , I asked the TD executive if he can bring the Storme near outskirts of city for TD?
He refused , and asked me to come to the showroom. My 7 yrs old son realised that a new car ride is on the cards and insisted to accompany me to enjoy it.

We reached at the Showroom' National Autowheels' Hadapsar.at 11 :30 am, One light green (champagne beige) Storme was standing on a special stage built for it just inside the gate, my son exclaimed wow!.I was also impressed by the color , as I felt it is unique.

We entered the showroom , and found a clubclass manza displayed followed by a dark metalic brown (Urban bronze)Storme, it too looked cool.and for the first time I
thanked tata for choice and quality of the color.
The concerned SE approached me immidietly and handed over me a price list and immidietly took us to display VX 4x2 urban bronze.
Further details you have already read #6122,#6125 on this thread.

1.) Change the engine oil as soon as possible after 1000 kms, to remove the finer iron particles.

2.) Atleast once in a month clean the air filter and try to replace it on every 15K service.

3.) Use Indian Oil diesel (normal). personal experience as with indian oil diesel my car performnce is a bit better than rest. (subjective)

4.) try to keep the car as empty as possible (dead weight wise)

5.) Keep the tyre pressure under check and refill it whenever you see a drop.

6.) change the gears at the right RPM

7.) Keep the vehicle in right gear. As i used to drive at 70-80 in 5th gear in city where every now and than you have to drop and accelrate. But now i drive it in 4th gear which is the most ideal gear for city driving. 5th Gear is for overdrive.

8.) Idle your vehicle for atleast 30 sec nowadays and around 45-60 sec in the extreme winter. Before a cold start and after a long stinnt.

thanks a ton ill try to follow these to the max[:)]

@Rajdeep. Where did you get them changed,at ASS? What difference do you feel with the changed tyres,if any?
mileage i recorded was before upgrading the tyres.i upgraded from stock 235 to 255 tyres they not too wide but gives lot of difference in vehicle looks.
.not at ASS from a normal tyre shop i got them changed.

yokohama are better(as far as i know) and improves ride quality.bit wider bigger tyres a little less you need to worry about potholes.

@ Rajdeep: The 255/55 R16 tyres that you've fitted will also negatively affect the mileage though it'll improve ride/handling.Also as you drive more after first and second service mileage will automatically improve from what it's now!!

Re: Tata Safari Storme Breaks Cover (Launch Coverage: Pg.322+)

Since I do not know how to split a post in multiple parts , I have given my answer s in bold font.
What's your height Tornado? Did you feel any inconvenience because of steering position as few people are complaining?

Ans -I am 180 cm + with Shoes .I didn't felt any difference between manza and storme steering position and with 4way adjustment of seat , I don't think it will be a problem in vx atleast ,for others too.

Have you driven Aria,I think plastic quality of Aria especially power window switches is just amazing!!

Ans- I have not driven Aria but happened to seat on the middle row .it is good to see same trend is followed in storme inspite of being cheaper than Aria, because plastic quality was not that good in Dicor Safari

Is this info really true? Can Storme 4x2 touch a speed of 180kmph on the speedo?? I know that current dicor 4x2 can touch a top speed of 170kmph on the speedo, but can a Storme do 180kmph,that's the question? I know these tall SUVs aren't meant to drive at such speeds but still:biggrin:

Ans-I had gone mad for refusing me a rough road TD and when I started using my right foot during TD so forgot to see what is the last number calibratd on the DIS.The SE was speechless most of the time when I was TD ing. So I don't know wheather he bluffed or not.

Do you feel the pick-up both initial as well as eventual is better in Storme when compared to your Manza?
Oh ! It reminded me Petrol corolla on pick up part .It is way better than manza. Even Vicor engine is more refined and nicely tuned than MANZA

Can not believe that a saloon owner a praising a tall BOF REAL 4X4 SUV for its body control at high speeds. What more can I say other than well done Tata[clap]

Ans -I am really very surprised about the stability and I feel that it is taller than DICOR Safari , correct me if I am wrong .And it was 4x2.

This carpet ride quality has always been hallmark of the Safari.Glad to hear that Storme doesn't disappoint in this criteria as well.
I like speed breakers most of the time as they are part of life saving efforts for school childern and for us on railway crossing .I hate them only if the y hit the underbody or give scary feel inside the cabin.

Magic of disc brakes all around, something which none of the real SUVs under 30 lakh have got.Yes sir no Fortuner,Pajero Sport or Endeavour have got 4 disc brakes with 4 channel 8.1 version Bosch ABS+EBD system.

So sound quality of the single DIN ICE is good?

Ans-Definitely good ,3 times better than manza OE blaupunkt ICE

Beautifully written.
Thanks a lot , what about thumbs up button?

SUV

S=Sports

U= Utility

V= Vehicle

'S' denotes sports=adrenaline rush.
So out of 10 how many marks you give to Storme?
Ans-according to medical science ,Adrenaline is a hormone secreted by SUPRARENAL glands in human body Yes , you are right in relating S for adrenaline.
Out of 10, I will decide after off road TD , till then 7out of 7

Also do you think it will sell in decent volumes or will be a flop like Aria?

Ans-With surveys coming up mentioning that M&M and TATA are are at par and ASS leaders Maruti , Honda and Hyundai Toyota do not have a competent model in that price bracket. There should not be a problem for sales ,price bracket is a sweet spot
of Storme.

But do not forget botox, chrome , silicone is often successfully used to lure the
buyers in this counrtyThe SE told me that 320 nm is the Storme torque and in Xuv it is
280 , then why do they add a chrome' 500' suffix ,nobody asks, Why?

Buddy, I guess you either meant diesel Corolla or you meant something else(maybe a faulty petrol Corolla). Why? Because weather diesel or petrol..both are quicker than Storme(diesel can be compared BTW).

Re: Tata Safari Storme Breaks Cover (Launch Coverage: Pg.322+)

@Tornado: Storme is little shorter than 2.2 Safari in height but its track is more wide. Also great to hear that an in-house developed Tata engine is more smooth and responsive than world renowned Fiat JTD engine:kudos to Tata Motors for that.
