@Rajdeep

Congrats for the black beast. The alloys look cool. Did you change tyres/tyre size ?

@Raja

Oops [frustration].I missed few pages and missed those pictures of you guys with storme. Is there any difference in paint quality or paint finish between LX and VX variants?
yes i changed the tyres these are yokohama 255/55

Re: Tata Safari Storme Vs Rest of the Competition

It was VX , we were sitting behind the display VX storme .I found that the rear sparewheel was missing along with rear door handle. SE told me that the sparewheel is placed under the boot (not inside)and it can be removed and replaced with a string and fastener from inside the boot. The rear door handle is hidden near the regn. plate .
The resultent baldlook of the rear is made upmarket with the help of matte black look ing stripe and minimal use of chrome.

The rear seat headroom and dimensions are enough for a servent measuring less than 155 cm . My son immidietly revolted against it when offered to seat there for TD for few minutes.
There is also a provision for a' mechanical fuel lid opening lever' inside the boot, in case of electronic driver controlled mechanism fails.

I entered the driver seat with ease without using the side step. The sidestep is grey black as compared to aluminum colored trend. It gives the storme a slim look as compared to other suvs.

The interiors look upmarket due to use of coffee colored leather and beige colored plastic every where including the gear knob and dashboard.The feel and touch is is skin friendly. Tatas struggle for good quality plastc is over now.

There is lot of room available every where in front and mid cabin eg . footstretch, legstretch, shoulder head etc.

The steering wheel design is borrowed from base model of outgoing manza , Atleast they should have borrowed it from aura manza which comes with audio/bluetooth controls.But leather wraps have saved some skin there.

Only let down is 'single din alpine HU look' despite of the space available for a touch screen visual 2din. So reverse cam, GPS should be on the after market accsesories list.

Four way adjustable driver seat is good enough for driver of any dimension.

We got down and looked at the front, the grill design and greyblack color along with minimal chrome gives it intercontinental look.

Opened the bonnet , surprised to see the engine is not 2.2 dicor but a Vicor.SE used vague terms such as refiened, tuned, blab blab la...

Overall impression : TDH awaiting a Macho for a long liv-in relationship.

Finally we headed toward the TD storme again a TDH but a white vx (color and paint work really top notch , lookwise and touchwise).

I asked the SE to take it to a rough hilly terrian.
He said , he has driven it@180 on highway. I said highways is a territory owned by civics, lauras, cruzes and SUV need not encroach upon it.
He denied the rough terrian TD. I told him to cancell the TD. He went back without any expression on face.
We headed toward the exit gate, where I found that my son's eyelids were wet.I went back and agreed for a TD on the route chosen by the SE.[frustration]

SE occupied the driverseat with me on the middle seat, I was thinking to give call to XUV SE .My knowledge is ultralimited about the XUV except the exterior and interior looks.
So, if I compare
I felt that Storme is meant to impress the college girls,to visit the forests and Farms where no road exists or only diversion (WIP)exists.

While XUV ,, I felt is meant to impress brides in the towns, to visit the farmhouse where there are bad roads available.
The storme smoothly moved on , and entered on the main road outside.I asked the SE , when was the engine cranked , before I entered the car or after I entered? He said , he cranked it after everybody was in and the doors were closed. The cranking noise went unnoticed by me may be due to XUV thoughts.

Could you share here the reason why you changed your storme tyre from 235/70 R16 to 255/55 R16 ? Is it for better handling as I assume the later to be shorter and wider?

Re: Tata Safari Storme Vs Rest of the Competition

We came on the road, engine was silent ,mismanaged speed and gear ratios was leading to mild snore. The Storme entered the huge township called Magarpatta city.There are internal roads as wide as four lane highway with many chowks and it was deserted as it was noon.
I sat on the drivers seat, cranked the engine , really a smooth starter experience.
The gear stick moving distance is much reduced as compared to the Dicor safari.feels like sedan.
I quickly moved on ,pickup is excellent ,remembered me of petrol corrola.Car reached 100 kmph within no time.

SE told me that it turns nicely at high speeds. I suddenly took a full left turn on a wider patch of road rotating the steering wheel up to its limit and storme took a full circular turn around itself @approx 100 kmph. People around started looking as if I was drunken.but I proceed further undeterred ,taking right angle turns every now and then .Bodyroll is a forgotten word now. Storme is superstable and well planted.

Speeds of 100 kmph were not felt from inside. There were numerous routine size speed breakers, I was increasing the speed while passing over them but Storme was passing over them as if cigarette buds are crushed under the shoes.

SE told me to check brakes , I checked them 5 to 6 times , car came to standstill without skidding a centimeter as if gently air dropped by a helicopter.Twice I felt pulsation s underneath the right foot.

The road view is good, no blind spots.electrical adjustable mirror movements adds to it .VX version comes with electrically foldable mirror function.
All buttons are easily reachable .I didn't checked the bluetooth function. Sound quality of the music system is excellent.but I preferred to switch it off as the engine purrr was more pleasant than it.
AC is chills the huge cabin and ACC is available .But the Economy mode switches it off whenever adequate coldness is achieved.
The reverse cam is missed sorely .The reverse parking sensorswill not suffice in forests and farms as grass will interfere and mislead it.

Then we headed toward the road to showroom.It was surprising to see that on going
two wheelers were not offering space for overaking unless honked as compared to
Dicor Safari.The reason for it could be due to noiseless engine. By introducing Storme TATA has sent divorce notices to their lifepartners viz. N, V, H. And SA was not vague but presise to use the words, refined , tuned, smooth to which I add a word ' lovely'.to describe the Vicor.

It was nessesary to take a U turn on a flyover so as to reach the showroom.and that is a turn where I had tested the turning radius of Sumogold and Dicor Safari.The turning radius is better than Dicor safari but not as good as sumogold practically.I had to manuvour it to and fro so as to complete the turn.
The storme left us at the showroom leaving behind the adrenaline released.
I had read about the adrenaline release due to driving experience on a fiat thread , but felt it for the first time in my life.
I filled up the feedback form and left.

You won' t believe , but I swear on him ,my son told me to drive slowly as it was manza and not storme , while on the way back to home,such was the amount of adrenaline released...

^^ Tornado,

Thanks for review, but it should have been in Storme thread & not Storme Vs xyz thread.
Request mods to merge threads, if required.
Man 2 threads running parallel is so confusing.[confused]

Our member navdoon had posted one with he siting in it .
No, no I mean with people sitting in front & back, with front seats pushed at max end, with 3 people in 2nd row & luggage with jump seats folded up. Something this sort of thing, which gives us more clear cut idea.

I would also like to know if Dharmesh's wife found it easy to get inside Storme & equally for egress. I found ladies complaining in UVs like Endy & Fortuner.

My wife had no problem getting inside and out in the storme , but then she was wearing jeans , don't know what happens when some 1 wearing a saree has to sit .

Maybe iron rock can in his review make people seat in the second seat and show us ? His review will be up soon , official review from TAI and iam sure he will cover all the aspects including the offroading stuff also .

Yes I many times feel the same thing have depicted in 2 threads. Getting confused many times.

My wife is the person, who have problems while sitting on scooter's back seat as well. [lol] She did not mention anything about it, But i Saw she had to climb up the Storme. May be we could keep a small folding stool (table) in Storme, so that we can use it whenever required (either during ingress/outgress or in picnic).

But I thin so ingress/outgress problem would be with all UVs. Right?

What's your height Tornado? Did you feel any inconvenience because of steering position as few people are complaining?
The interiors look upmarket due to use of coffee colored leather and beige colored plastic every where including the gear knob and dashboard.The feel and touch is is skin friendly. Tatas struggle for good quality plastc is over now.
Have you driven Aria,I think plastic quality of Aria especially power window switches is just amazing!!

He said , he has driven it@180 on highway.
Is this info really true? Can Storme 4x2 touch a speed of 180kmph on the speedo?? I know that current dicor 4x2 can touch a top speed of 170kmph on the speedo,but can a Storme do 180kmph,that's the question? I know these tall SUVs aren't meant to drive at such speeds but still:biggrin:

I quickly moved on ,pickup is excellent ,remembered me of petrol corrola.Car reached 100 kmph within no time.
Do you feel the pick-up both initial as well as eventual is better in Storme when compared to your Manza?

Bodyroll is a forgotten word now. Storme is superstable and well planted.
Can not believe that a saloon owner a praising a tall BOF REAL 4X4 SUV for its body control at high speeds.What more can I say other than well done Tata[clap]

This carpet ride quality has always been hallmark of the Safari.Glad to hear that Storme doesn't disappoint in this criteria as well.
SE told me to check brakes , I checked them 5 to 6 times , car came to standstill without skidding a centimeter as if gently air dropped by a helicopter.Twice I felt pulsation s underneath the right foot.
Magic of disc brakes all around,something which none of the real SUVs under 30 lakh have got.Yes sir no Fortuner,Pajero Sport or Endeavour have got 4 disc brakes with 4 channel 8.1 version Bosch ABS+EBD system.
All buttons are easily reachable .I didn't checked the bluetooth function. Sound quality of the music system is excellent.but I preferred to switch it off as the engine purrr was more pleasant than it.
So sound quality of the single DIN ICE is good?

Beautifully written.

SUV

S=Sports

U= Utility

V= Vehicle

'S' denotes sports=adrenaline rush.
You won' t believe , but I swear on him ,my son told me to drive slowly as it was manza and not storme , while on the way back to home,such was the amount of adrenaline released...
So out of 10 how many marks you give to Storme?

Also do you think it will sell in decent volumes or will be a flop like Aria?
Even now no-one has uploaded pics of interiors with people sitting inside it.
Now that Storme has arrived in Pune,waiting for first hand TD report from you.[:)]

Maybe iron rock can in his review make people seat in the second seat and show us ? His review will be up soon , official review from TAI and iam sure he will cover all the aspects including the offroading stuff also .
IR has been extremely silent ever since yesterday!! Did he got Storme from Tata? Are you sure Raja?

Re: Tata Safari Storme Breaks Cover (Launch Coverage: Pg.322+)

It was really good to see that Sanjay's Storm in pics(by Raja) excellent pics quality.

Was nice talking to Sanjay and Raja and it looks you had a good time in Mumbai and I missed it !!

I was really wondering and was not able to believe completely that one of our member really bought a Storm and Sanjay really cleared that doubt with his Bronze beast and a exclusive Storm meeting at Mumbai !! Kudos to your effort buddy

@Dharmesh, Nice report on your driving experience and very unbiased opinions from your wife

Finally your reports have cleared lot of doubts about Storm by other members of forum and now at-least every body agree with our initial impressions of Storm and its paint quality and our reports and videos. I am happy that it really started picking up well with adding numbers especially in MH and waiting to see the beast in Hyderabad in New year

@Sanjay I wish you a great time with your beast and expect my visit to Pune in my next Mumbai trip where I would like to meet all our TAIans in Pune and enjoy driving your Storm and IR's XUV
