Nano have been around for a while now.Let us see how the engine had performed.
There are so many Nano owners in our forum.They must come out in favor of the best things in Nano.I feel till now there was not much of a complaint about the engine other than its under powered.The new internal designs and transmission will definitely help Nano to be a good city car.But mileage aspect needs to be taken care .It had dropped to 21Kmpl from an earlier 25 Kmpl. Thats a 20% drop which actually must not be there.The pricing can be contained within 3L on road .

Tata Motors’ AMT to be used across the portfolio starting from Nano to ARIA

Tata Motors’ automated manual transmission (AMT) will soon be integrated into all of its products in due course, including other petrol models and the Tata Nano, Tim Leverton, President and Head-Advanced & Product Engineering, has said.

A report on The Business Line quotes him in saying that the AMT gearbox is in tune with what the company has been hearing from its customers and that it is a feature they want.

The AMT was first announced during the unveiling of the Tata Zest prior to the Auto Expo 2014. At the Auto Expo, the company had showcased a cutaway version of the Tata Nano Twist featuring an F-Tronic five-speed AMT gearbox.

It maybe that there are two AMT gearboxes under consideration. The one on the Tata Nano Twist was supplied by Italian vendor Magneti Marelli. The attached press release said that the Tata Nano Twist features an electro-hydraulic mechanism which uses an electronic control unit and a hydraulic system to supervise clutch usage and gear shifting. Leverton in his interview that the AMT would be a single clutch with an hydraulic actuator.

Leverton also explains that in the AMT, the driver can either choose a fully automatic mode or a mode where he can shift gears manually.

i feel that TATA NANO Twist Active F-tronic(AMT) may be under power due to its 765Kgs weight So TATA should to add some more to the engine and the below listed changes will get in upcomming NANO f-tronic versions they nano will raise his charmness [:D]

-2cylinder 624cc turbo charged MPFI engine 65bhp,101NM torque

-front disk brakes

-optional driver airbag

-rear wash wiper

-intregrated head unit with steering mount audio controls

The enigma of the diesel.. spotted on and off for ever..now at the expo apparently a nano diesel engine was seen near the truck stand.
As for the current version i think autocar have it spot on. The alto is still the king. As the price approaches the alto with better versions it will need suffer in comparison .Sadly it mesnt to be a class below i know.
Can the booted AMT version be 40K less than the alto or eon

The march issue oa ACI has a feature on safety. Apparently the nano tesyes in the UK had airbags and reinforcements. Apparently the Aria also is now dhorn of European safety gear to make it lighter.
Only wish TML would follow VW.Imagine if tax was based on safety as well as size?

AMT Nano (toppest end) below EON and Alto base models that too 40K below base model? Isnt that too much to ask from Tata?

Just because it is TATA does not means we should expect cars for cheaper cost and when we buy cheaper cars, be ready for cheaper quality materials as well. :-)

Oh its a TATA. Its cheap isnt it. How much? Oh wow its VFM. Hmm, interior looks cheap. Its cheap. Heck when will TATA learn?

We should change our mentality. Why expect Mercedes quality for dirt cheap price when it comes to TATA. We accept whatever these Japs give us. I would like to see and meet people in person who say Amaze/Brio, Etios/Liva are good quality products.

Well even I feel from the pictures of the Nano AMT posted here, interiors to be at par with competition if not better.

The Brown garnish around the AMT stick, or around the music system seem to be much in line with the new design direction Tata is going in. By now means does that Nano AMT look like a Rs 1 Lakh car. It looks years ahead.

Would you buy the twist mow or wait for an year for the AMT with openable boot? I feel sales will suffer if prople think that better versions are around the corner.. including bigger engine..

The Tata Nano diesel has been spied a number of times. Now, the blokes at Overdrive have caught the Tata Nano diesel on a video, which features a new design on the front fascia. The Tata Nano diesel launch may happen in a couple of months.

It may be noted the Nano diesel will carry over the design cues which were showcased in the Tata Nano Twist Active Concept at the Auto Expo 2014 last month. The test mule features the bumpers and the honeycomb grille seen on the Twist Active Concept.

The Tata Nano diesel will be powered by an 800 cc mill, which is expected to deliver an outstanding fuel efficiency figure of around 40 kmpl. This is the same engine which does the duty in the Tata Ace, but without a turbocharger. The Nano diesel will use a turbocharger from Garrett, which will enable the motor to churn out 40 PS of max power and 90 Nm of peak torque.

Expected to be launched in late 2014 or early 2015, the diesel variant of the car will be priced around 70,000 INR more than the petrol variants. It may be noted that Tata is trying to shed the 1 lakh car tag with which the Nano was marketed initially. With the launch of the Nano Twist with a power steering and Nano CNG, Tata is leaving no stone unturned in an effort to increase the sales of the Nano.
