Congrats for your new GenX Nano dear TAIgers,

The car looks brilliant than the previous versions (no offence for owners). And I'm seeing a pink colored one for the first time.

But the question in my mind is, it's selling in 2k units and why does the company makes waiting period for 4 months?

Because TATA Motors limited the production in nano factory to reduce losses due to previous gen nano stock still lying on nano factory they coming back to GenX nano's most of the sales are coming from AMT equiped nano so AMT kit is provided by FIAT's MM transmission they are limited in production and importing for italy the whole lot of reasons still sales are below 2.5k [frustration]

lets hope that by end of this year monthly sales figure will go upto 4k [;)]

It has already been informed that TATA Motors has already liquidated the old stocks of the Nano old gen. As of now there is no old stock available at the factory.

Tata Motors sold 18663 Nanos in the year 2013, another 18832 Nanos in 2014. Because of this track record, possibly the vendors had been producing Nano parts in very limited numbers. This year Tata Motors has already sold 12444 Nanos in the first 7 months and could finish the year with around 24000 despatches. The vendors might not rapidly scale up supplies just to be on the cautious side. They will prefer gradual growth while monitoring to see if it is sustainable.

Firstly, Do not go by SA's statement on PDI. It is not mandatory to do PDI at dealer's end at showroom. The SA said so because once the car reaches to the showroom, then if any imperfections are there they can hide it at their end and not tell you. Just ask the SA where the Stockyard is and if you feel its ok then take me with you for the PDI at the stockyard. Remember the PDI at stockyard itself gives you clear picture of the car you're buying. I recently accompanied one of my friend and our TAI member Saqib for PDI of his XUV-500 at the stockyard here. So, just ask for the location of the stockyard and expected time of car's arrival there. Also, make me meet your SA once. After that we'll go for PDI at stockyard only and once done we'll give the payment to them. You can provide me your phone number via PM if any help you need buddy.[:)]

Dear Akash,

Thank you so much for extending your help! Much appreciated.

I had become tied up with work and I was told by the SA that the container truck which was carrying the cars was stuck at Jaipur and was stuck there for some reason beyond 3-4 days! After 3 to 4 days I called him again and then he told me that there has been an accident and that is the reason the container is stuck at Jaipur and hence I have no other option but to wait for my batch, ie the original royal gold I had booked. This means here I was with the loan approved with no car!

I was quite perplexed and didn't know what to do and called up the sales manager who mumbled something and promised to get back to me, which he did not. However he acknowledged that Tata is sending them very few Nano XTA's and the waiting period is 8 to 10 weeks. I wrote to Tata Nano's facebook page after which I got a call from the SA which didn't help much. I lost hope of getting the car and decided to wait for another two weeks and then cancel the booking and go for the Alto K10 AMT.

Yesterday afternoon I finally got a call saying that the car has been dispatched on August 15,2015 and will be in Delhi in a week. So by this weekend I am expecting news that the car has arrived at their stockyard. Once I get that info I will reach out to you!

Thanks once again.

Hi guys,

We got our silver nano genx amt delivered today. We had booked on June 21,2015 and got the deliver on August 31,2015! The initial ride from the showroom to our home, about a 10 km ride was in moderate to heavy traffic. The AMT was a breeze to use, although I could feel the lag in the shifts especially in the lower gears. The suspension is good and so is the cabin feel, spacious with lots of light and a commanding view of the road. I drive a grand i10 everyday and tackling the speed breakers were much easier in the nano. The music system is just alright, and the bluetooth works fine.

Haven't driven the car in the manual mode, looking forward to that experience as well. And yes the sales advisor gave us a complete rubber matting to appease us for free. We were supposed to get the delivery on Sunday but they delayed. Since this will be only for city commute I feel its a perfect car for a leisurely ride, without the hasssle of the clutch. While I definitely missed the power surge in my grand I was amazed at how qucikly I adapted to the AMT, the brake needs special attention and a quick strong application, but one can easily get used to it.

Still awaiting the Gold maintenance package kit and ofcourse the RC.

Avg Fuel consumption showed 10.5 km/l and the car had 38kms on the odo.

I have been using my Nano Twist XT for my everyday transportation needs in & around my town for the past over 1 year now. There are only a handful of Nanos in my town, or atleast the ones that are visible on the roads. Those who were owning Nanos have recently started using the car more often. And 2 brand new GenX Nanos landed in my town this week, the first GenXs spotted in my town. Seems like more visibility of the car moving around the town is giving confidence to people to buy it. Hopefully we will see more Nanos on the roads in the coming months & years.

And yes, there is no Tata Motors dealer in my town. The nearest one is around 80 kms away. But there is a Maruti Suzuki showroom here. Hyundai dealer too has a representative office here and another dealer is just 30 kms away.

I have not seen single GenX in my city roads yet, don't know people are buying it or not
I am from Noida and my wife owns the Genx, I do see a few Nano's on the road, especially the Twist and the earlier versions. There is one twist cng in our apartment owned by another lady. Yes its not a common sight, I don't think that many will opt for the car as their first car in the family.

I drove from Noida to Lajpat Nagar the other day in bumper to bumper traffic on the DND flyway and the creep came in handy, it was an absolute joy to see the throttle response in the Sport mode which i used in the open stretch on the flyway and on the flyover. Sine the flyover was empty I didnt get to test the driving dynamics on a pakced flyover especially uphill

For those who are driving the genx amt what has been your experience of driving it on packed flyovers? How to tackle uphill movement? Should I engage sports mode and use the hand brake?

If you are moving very slowly with frequent stop and go traffic then handbrake use is recommended. Also in those situations either a manual or sports mode will provide better thrust in lower gears as well as prevent the transmission from moving into 2nd gear unnecessarily. Its also recommended to use these when climbing steep ramps too.

Twist is not available in CNG version. Twist is available in petrol model only.

CNG is available only in XM model. (CX version with CNG)
CNG LX model was discontinued which had all the features of LX model.

This has been confirmed by TATA that due to some limitations, CNG Twist won't be launched.

The Nano you have seen must be Twist XTA, XT or XE. [:)]
