Further break up on figures :
Nexon & Tiago doing very well for TML and are consistent performers for them. Hexa managing 1200+ units in the year end is remarkable. Tigor and Zest selling nearly same numbers is Ok but Tigor should manage minimum 2500 to 3000 units each month. I am hoping with EV Tigor & Bigger Engine Tigor the sales would improve for the Tigor in 2018 as the EV Tigor will also be available for personal ownership in this year as per the plans.

If they put the Nexon engine in Tigor I am sure the sale will be strongly boosted. So far the only cons I hear about the car are the mediocre engine and lack of airbags in lower variants.

Disappointing. It is Mass Tech's Type 2 A/C Slow charger, not the Mass Tech CHAdeMO DC Quick Charger.

Re: Tata X451 Micro SUV To Rival Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Shouldn’t you be the one answering these questions? Im not the one rallying for TML all the time
I say it as I see it
What "innovation" has Tata got?
I am going to rally for TML, now [;)]

Before talking about innovations in Indian Auto sector, we need to first look into the history of affordable hatchbacks for Middle-Class. The first innovation (or call it car revolution) in India happened when a peppy Maruti-800 was introduced in 1983. For the next 15 long years, the Indian Middle-Class buyers HAD ONLY "Omni or M-800 or Zen" to choose from. Other cars were costly.

IMHO, the second innovation (car revolution) started in 1998, when "Daewoo Matiz, Hyundai Santro, Tata Indica and Fiat Uno" were launched in India. The Korean hatchbacks came with MPFi, Five gears in a Hatchback with "much better Cabin interiors, Fit & Finish and even a better Pain-Job"; things were in a different Class with them. The Uno had a huge Boot (for a hatchback) and the Indica gave a Diesel engine at an affordable cost; Indica quickly received a Five Gear upgrade too. It went on to become a most preferred choice in the Taxi segment; Truly a people mover [clap]

What innovation did Maruti do since 1983 ? They kept changing "Bumper design, Tail Lights, Head lights, Seats etc in those three cars" but their hatchbacks had just four gears. Only after entry of the Koreans, Maruti joined the "MPFI and Five Gear" bandwagon. They even launched the Wagon-R to counter the rising popularity of Santro.

Hyundai created a market for premium hatchbacks by launching Getz in 2002 (IIRC). Maruti followed suit with Swift in 2004-05. The LEADER always needed someone to create a segment and jumped in to en cash the demand. Few examples are "Dzire against indigo e-cs, Ignis against Mahiundra KUV, Baleno against i20, Brezza/S-Cross against EcoSport/Creta"... Also, Maruti's 1 Litre Boosterjet engine FOLLOWED Ford's 1 Littre Ecoboost Petrol engine. ALWAYS FOLLOWING OTHERS... Some "market leader" Maruti is. If at all I would appreciate Maruti, I would do it for Suzuki's K series Petrol engines. Tata's 1.5 Litre Diesel engine also deserves such a credit. Time will decide if Tata's 1.2 Litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine deserves the credit or NOT.

"I think, in Indian Scenario, Innovative Packaging is more appropriate" than innovative technologies used in Automobile Sector; such a package can be made available at affordable Costs. Tata is able to do THAT; latest example is Nexon. The way Nexon turned out, Tata's micro SUV or Premium Hatchback might turn out real nice. Who knows, they might also Trump others with a C-Segment Sedan or a SUV between Nexon and Hexa. All these are very good for buyers [clap]

Sowing the seeds of learning has short, mid and long-term benefits, and we at Tata Motors foresee this as the foundation to prepare them as well the Indian Automotive Industry for future growth.”

Tata Motors begins 2018 with 43% growth in January demonstrating strong Commercial and Passenger Vehicles sales performance

Mr. Girish Wagh, President, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “The year 2018 has started with a positive note witnessing 38% growth over January 2017. We have seen a consistent growth momentum in the Commercial Vehicles segment on account of robust infrastructural developments along with logistics requirements owing to the rising requirement from the construction sector. With continuously increasing customer acceptance of the Tata Range of BS4 vehicles with superior SCR Technology, the M&HCV segment grew by 12.5% with increased demand for trucks led by restrictions on overloading, fresh tenders in the car carrier and petroleum sectors as well as coal and cement movement triggered by on-going infrastructure projects. However, the growth was lower than expected owing to challenges arising out of supply constraints on key aggregates. The I&LCV segment saw a strong growth of 55% over last year aided by increased thrust in Agriculture based, FMCG and E-commerce sectors. The SCV cargo and Pickup segment witnessed a promising growth of 75% over last year on back of new product introductions and an uptick in buying sentiments especially with e-commerce sector and Government/Municipal applications. With our turnaround strategy in full action, we are seeing encouraging results and we are confident to further improve our performance across segments.”

Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Happy to report that our strong sales performance continues in January 2018 and we have started 2018 with determination. This month we have grown by 55% over last January, on the back of good demand for our new generation products – Tiago, Tigor, Nexon and Hexa. While Tiago continues to lead the growth in cars at 27%, the Nexon and HEXA have attracted new set of SUV buyers, resulting in 188% growth in UVs. We continue to be optimistic and hope this growth momentum continues.”
