Tata Motors gearing up for a comprehensive revamp of their dealership experience

Tata Motors has seen their domestic sales dwindling in the past few months and that is a serious issue for the country’s largest automobile manufacturer.

Tata Motors’ passenger car sales has been loosing its shine in 2012 and the firm is in a dire need of an effective action plan to limit the damages and to start the restructuring process. The company has decided to do that by implementing a new format at its dealerships and by reshaping the go-to-market and sales teams.

Mr. Ranjit Yadav, president, passenger car unit of Tata Motors told DNA that, “We have reshaped our go-to-market and sales team. We are working in a different way now in managing our dealerships and customers. Our focus will be to enhance customer experience, giving them best-in-class experience, both in sales and service. As all our work around these things start kicking in, we will start seeing benefits.”

Mr. Yadav admits that Tata Motors is not number one in customer experience today, but he says that the company is intending to become number one in just a few quarters. He added that, “We have revamped and upgraded our whole training process for our sales people and equipped them better. There were opportunities for us to improve, we spotted them and started working on them.”

With a renewed customer approach through the existing 1,000 customer touch points and by introducing new products and refreshes such as Nano diesel and CNG, Tata Motors is hoping to regain the lost ground.

Tata Motor's are in a danger to give away their 3rd position to Toyota who just trailed by 2K unit's in December, Karl slym has his work cut out.
Buddy if I am not wrong then Tata is already at 4th place behind M&M.

That means still Toyota is at 5th Place. Wow thats a lot for the quality. With a car in every segment now (many are best sellers) but still Toyota is at 5th Place, why?

Reason is simple, they still aren't able to conquer the mass market or say the 'pot-full-of-gold' hatchback market of India.

That is only because of Toyota's wrong attitude towards us Indians. When you'll make such a cheap car like Etios(single wiper in a 8 lakh rupee car, pathetic interiors, water seepage, sigh) and call it Q(quality) class. You won't get the sales volumes that you're looking for because we Indians may be emotional but we surely are no fools,IMHO.

I had been to Concorde motors and Aadya motors last week and the staff approach was very good, their response was good than before though it was not at par with Aadya motors. And many showrooms are going under renovation which is good to hear that they are improving very much.

All the best for them [thumbsup]

Because they sell cars with premium money tag in the name of quality. Tata is is 4th place only because of its Indicabs and Sumo.

As far as using of vehicle in Taxi or cab service goes Toyota has all the vehicles into that category.

Innova: Taxi
Etios: Taxi
Liva: Taxi
Altis Diesel: Taxi

Iam not talking all or 100% vehicles but a major chunk of numbers one can find of these vehicles under taxi badge.

Same for Tata also

Indica: Taxi
Vista: Taxi (Rare)
Manza: Taxi (Rare)
Indigo: Taxi
Safari: May be one or two only
Sumo: Mostly Taxi
Aria: Very few sold and very few are in Taxi (lets see what will 9.95L Pure Lx would do)
Nano: No taxi (or may be one or two like safari)

Now the question remain same, If Quality is consider than toyota is supposed to be better than Tata, thats what you all spoke, but inspite of having vehicles in every segment (like liva, etios, corolla, camary, fortuner, prado and LC) than also why the hell they are still behind from four other car makers???

It is much obvious , Tata cars are very much unreliable compared to Toyota or Suzuki.

Take e.g Petrol cars. 60 percent of Hyundai and suzuki earn selling Petrol cars.
guess how much Tata could do with Petrol cars if we ignore Nano.

On the other hand Nano ,the feather in cap of Tata burnt seasonally like firewood at every corner of the country giving a bad rapport to overall image of the brand.
Almost each and every one of us know that Nano may torch itself any moment and Indica is not good for personal use for obvious reasons .
This poor quality reputation inflicted to otherwise good variants like Vista ,manza aria and safari. I am forced to ignore Sumo here as grande was one of the worst troublesome UV ever launched in India.
Peace.

Hi there

i agree with the petrol engine. but if you check numbers of Nano caught fire in India is still less than a Maruti badge car caught fire in India.

See this is same as what media is showing us like once upon a time Low floor buses in Delhi start caughting fire due to their brake system (not all of them). Later on what comes out was not to digest reason of brakes were screwed tightly at service and due to the excess friction FIRE Outbreaks. There was no problem in the buses at all, not in thei design or in the prodcut and componenet used. But media makes that event as hoopla and sell news in the wake of Commonwealth games Ghotalas.

But still u have not given the answer or your point of view Quality vs the numbers of Cars.

Competition is always welcome. As the market becomes more mature, desi manufacturers will find it extremely difficult to compete with the likes of Toyota. Sad, but true.

Tata Motors enters 1 trillion rupee club as shares surge[clap]

Tata Motors market cap crossed the 1 trillion rupees mark, joining what is now a 14-member club that also includes Reliance Industries, ONGC and Tata Consultancy Services.

Tata Motors shares have hit a record high this year after surging 4.7 percent as of Wednesday's close, adding to its 75 percent gain in 2012.

Signs of improving sales at its unlisted unit Jaguar Land Rover and the improving economic outlook in its key China market have bolstered the auto maker's shares, analysts said.

The 1 trillion rupees market cap includes differential voting rights and common shares.
Tata Motors shares are up 1.8 percent as of 2:42 p.m.

How can Tata Motors' shares surge so much when they are doing such poor business in their own home market? Is this because of JLR success?

I guess the credit must go to JLR who has seen a robust sales boost in 2012.
