Re: 9 Months Old Tata Manza – 3,000 Kms Ownership Review

second (5000 km) servicing experience at NAW TASS PUNE

I called up them at 10:30 am, they asked me to come at 11 am, I reached there on time, SA attended me on time , I told him about

1) pre delivery plastic , paint loss issues. also told him that ' brush touch up' was tried at the time of delivery, but was in vain.
2) post sound deadening' window pane noise', loss of rubber shock absorbers on inside of door.
3) mis aligned ' chrome rub rail inserts on rear bumper ' done at the time of accident job.

4) missing rear mudflaps since accident repair job.

SA said , for color loss patch, I need to see workshop delivery manager Mr. jadhao, whose phone was out of reach for half an hr. later on was found talking on mobile in same premises, after half hr mobile talk, he paid attention to me.
Mr. Jadhao asked me to get the 'predelivery color loss repair promise note' xerox ed.
And asked me to call the salesman, showroom and send an email mentioning same to work shop.
I followed his instructions. At 2 pm, no email was sent, I called up GM showroom, he tried to refer me to subordinates. I showed resentment.

Finally , one showroomman Mr. prem (supposed to send email ) told me to talk with Ms. Madhuri (responsible workshop person) , as had talked with her, to get the thing done.

Madhuri said , she has received a call, but color loss issue is not discussed.
I got angry, fired them for wastage of time, and overall attitude towards the custemer.

Then she woke up, after 15 minutes she told me, that they are getting the paint job done, asked me about the location of patch.

After one hr. I called up SA, he said , they have done the ' brush touch up', and result is not satisfactory.[evil]
I asked why the hell, brush touch up is done, when it was in vain at the time of delivery?

Then paint shop man (karande) said that there are few scratches near the paint loss patch., and the job will cost Rs 1200, as half of front bumper needs to be painted to repair the color loss patch which will coincidently repair the new scrathes also, why I am making issue of such a small thing?

Re: 9 Months Old Tata Manza – 2 Months / 5000 Kms Ownership Review

I told the SA not to proceed for color.
He sent the car for wash, as servicing/inspection was already over.
It was dark by now.
Results-
Wash was satisfactory, no hard water stains on glasses this time.
Powerwindow noise gone.
Door rubber was replaced.
Front windscreen plastic panel was repaired[shock], last time they had adviced replacement.

Rear bumper chrome insert misalignment was left as it was.:frown:

SA did not explained me, what are things checked and done during this servicing.

Total charges- nil.

Nice wild pics buddy. How about switching to alloys now? I am sure the Elan alloys will go well with your car.

Re: 9 Months Old Tata Manza – 2 Months / 5000 Kms Ownership Review

:help:'Tyre(puncture) protector gel/liqiud' guy told me that it will cost approx.3 k, for four tyres. Some more money for sidewall puncture protection. Fifth tyre doesn't need it.
He said that first the prefilled nitrogenneeds to be removed, then liqiud is filled up professionally, then he will inflate the tyres with air, as he doesn't have nitrogen facility, however nitrogen can be filled in on a later date anywhere else.

I know that the nitrogen guys remove the air from tyres by applying negative pressure after removing the valves so as to get rid of residual air, before filling nitrgen. Will it affect the tyre protector liquid/gel? I mean , will the gel come out with the negative pressure?

@ Pune TAIans , please let me know , is there any place in Pune where nitrogen filling facility and tyre protector gel facility coexist?

Few days back received a call from tata, I told them about predelivery color loss patch, rubrail chrome insert misalignment issue . They said, tata will contact the workshop, and the issue will be sorted out in 72 hr.

No call , nothing happened till now.

Meanwhile, powerwindow noise reappeared and disappeared after few days , this time on rhs front window.

Re: 9 Months Old Tata Manza – 2 Months / 5000 Kms Ownership Review

It is time for short term review of accessories and features

Tata provided blaupunct music system-
Average quality .
Sony system in my wagonr(Rs 14 k}, old indigo was better (sound quality)
Button s are not soft, feels like they are of ninties era.
Steering mounted audio controls get inadvertently pressed while moving the exessive ly mobile steering wheel.
'Chanel seek' button on the steering wheel , when pressed leads to change in radio frequency by 0.1 , rather than switch on the next fm chanel. This in turn compels me to change the chanel by pressing the numbered buttons on the central console HU.:frown:
Manza owners ,please help me, if you know , why this is happpening?

Powerwindows -
Misalignment & noise issue. But loved the 'all windows driver control' .kids can not open/close windows without drivers permission.
Rear passeger can leave the car with windows open, I need not frown at them.

Upmodule-
Very helpful in prevention of inadverently left open windows.(no water, thief intrusion)

Seat belt warning, headlights on warnings saved me money(fine) and battery many times.

Fog lamps were useful whenever there was fog, also in the night s(fogfree) as a supplement to head light.

Rea r fog lamps- Don't know.

Day /night irvm serves the purpose but quality of plastic appears to be borrowed from tata magic.

ORVM s-
They are good , they have better height: width ratio, more height gives full view of vehicle approaching from behind. Lesser width saves the mirrors from bikers and cab drivers approaching from front.

Rubrail chrome inserts -
Better quality and cheap rate ( fitted at outside shop)
Good quality , costly, poor service ( fitted at TASS)

'Elegant' seat covers - super quality seude , easy to clean, difficult to soil. Seude saves prevents sweating , wetness.
Rear and sides of seat cover are made of art leather.
The sides and back usually get s soiled due to finger s, feet. The art leather can be cleaned with damp cloath readily
Seived side pockets & backpockets helpful to place and visualise the remotes, magazines.

Rear view cam /screen-
I have mentioned about it in previous posts.
Screen is placed on the rhs slanting dash with the help of a stalk. It makes difficult to clean the dust there.

Roofmounted lcd/dvd player-
Dvd, vcd can be changed by the rear passeger without disturbing the driver . It can be reached by all passegers easily.
picture quality is good even at daytime with rto approved sunfilms.

Remote control adds to comfort.

It comes with 2 cool white rear facing spot lights. It doesn't compromise driver vision , as compared to stock lights.

It has a good digital watch, remains on , can be seen, even if the player is off.

It comes with video games with headphones, can be played by 2 kids. Remaining passengers can enjoy music from stock HU.

To be contd...

Re: 9 Months Old Tata Manza – 2 Months / 5000 Kms Ownership Review

aura features & accessories review continued...
cons of roofmounted dvd, lcd in my manza are as follows,
1)The can not be rotated in 360° as it was told by the shop owner. The front cabin light housing disallows it.(accessories man could not anticipate it before installation)

2) the ceiling upholstery has come down little due to its weight, however can't be recognized by untrained eyes.

3) lcd when open intrupts irvm view.

4) Ignition mode needs to be on, if you want to use lcd dvd player. So little worried about the battery drainage whenever engine is off and car is parked.

In car vaccum cleaner nozzle can't reach difff icult places.

Digital air filler, was good at the time of demo, not used by me till now.

Rear mobile charging point adds to backseat comfort. It is helpful while using vaccum cleaner.

'Little Princess On Board' placard afixed on rear windshield could not save me from an accident. :stupid:I think radium could have done the job better.

Sunfilms (blaupunct) are ok quality as far as heat reduction is concerned. Manzas large glasses and huge cabin might be a factor.
The seat cover guys made an abrasion (2 cm) on rear passeger window film, while removing the rear seat.

I feel it is nessesary to discuss the sequence of fitting the accessories in order to prevent such problems. Gurus please come forward.

Alarm security system noise is little loud when near a hospital, home. But same is helpful at day time in noisy city areas. I would like to have a button to swith on/off the alarm speaker . Gurus please come forward.

Car has stopped auto locking when speed raises above 10kmpl after installation of alarm system& upmodule . The shop man denied any tampering and reffered me to TASS.

The leather steering wheel cover remains touchable even in supercool winter midnights and hot summer noon if the car is exposed to such temperature s for long time when parked.

Power steering knob is not very useful, as the accessories shop man has fixxed it at an inconvenient position.

The foot mats are good quality and I have cut its corner s as per car' s and my requirements. They have provided appropriate slots to cut it .

The slanting dash is not allowing me to place anything on it eg. Mobile, tissue paper box.

There are no bottle holder s for rear passeger s in a car which is praised for rear comfort.

The front head rest has only one gear for adjustment. little troublesome.

The bottle holders at front are of odd size , can't hold( small for standard 1 lit mineral water bottle, big/loose for half lit)

Please help me , if there are aftermarket bottle holders for rear. Please suggest me a proper size /brand of a bottle for front.

They are only for small cans not for bottle, if you keep bottle it will topple when you brake hard.

I keep a bottle of water in the rear pocket of the front passenger seat. It is easy for me to reach it and replace it while driving.

@HR, I also do the same, now searching flat bottles in the market as cylindrical bottles may damage the pocket sooner or latter.

Ideally tata should have provided door pockets with swelled up rear ends, like dzire.

Best is to have seat covers which have side pockets specifically for bottles.
