Re: Tata H5 SUV (Q501 / Q502) Spotted Testing

People do not remember Indica/Indigo for a good reason [frustration]. Speaks volume about what people think about its designers.

However full marks to Tata for not giving up. The Impact Design language has in fact worked very well and people have started taking note of it. Good luck for their growth story.
So when the Q501 starts selling people will not even enter the showroom after seeing a couple of Indica and Indigos parked outside. So whatever TML does the Indica is unforgettable. If the Q501 grill may just have a passing resembelence and that's the start of its bashing even if the rest of the product is exemplary.

I think it will take few mores years of consistent Sales and After-sales experience to change this perception. I do believe the target customers of Q50X will look past Indica/Indigo even if it shares the spaces with the Q50X cars. So that should not really impact Q50X sales honestly

My personal Opinion and my suggestion on Brand name of upcoming TATA premium SUV's can carry forward "Safari" name plate to keep Legacy brand alive.

TATA can Categorize Safari name plated vehicles in three different forms based on their pricing

- TATA Safari Storm current storm as Tough affordable old School Offroader price range of 9.0 to 13.5lacks

- TATA Safari 5Seater - (Code Q501) - entry level premium sub Compact SUV to competite Compass and Creta price range.

- TATA Safari Sport 7Seater -(Code Q502) - Premium SUV to competite Fortuner

These are just my personal views and not really intended to hurt anyone.

I would be really happy if Tata would bring back the 'Siera' moniker. For me, Siera was always that aspiring lifestyle SUV that pretty much the affluent class really wanted to own in those days. I still remember the former TN CM J.Jayalalitha in a Siera waving the 2-leaves symbol. It was a quite a sight to watch for ordinary folks like me. I may still not be able to afford the Q50X cars now, but with the spurt in middle class' disposable income, I think 'Siera' once again could be that dream car for an aspiring working middle class to indulge in a bit of lifestyle and luxury.

That said, I highly doubt if Tata would use 'Safari', as 'Safari' has a legacy as a rugged, Ladder-on-Frame, takes-you-anywhere SUV. Its a legend for me. I am not sure if these monocoques can do justice to these characteristics. I feel Tata will be diluting the 'Safari' and true-SUV lovers may be disappointed and not forgive Tata for such a crime [:D].

But the product as such has created a lot of expectations and hope Tata atleast release the silhouettes of these cars. I am sure they will not be retaining the Discovery design as it will kill of its more Luxurious cousin. Good luck to Tata motors.

OT: On that note, any info on Tigor with a bumped up power, especially the diesel? I am sold on it but the engine spec is really a deal breaker for me [frustration]

My guess is that Indica/Indigo are no longer sharing 'prime' showroom space with the rest of the Tata passenger cars like the Tiago/Tigor/Nexon/Hexa. Thats a lot for Tata to handle anyway.

worth noting that all are sketches. In metal it'll look much different. The way surface reflects light will be different.

Q501 all teasers are out and it looks stunning.
After seeing x451 and q501 sneak peaks, i think tata motors have done an excellent homework for the comeback.
Impact design 2.0 will definitely rock!
That's a stunning new SUV coming our way. The teaser is in Copper dazzle color and looks fab. We can safely hope that the new gen Tata Safari would surely be notches higher in terms of looks & features. Seeing this one in real would be a breathtaking sight for sure.

One thing I can say for sure, Tata has finally started getting attention in a positive manner. Recently a neighbor has bought a base trim Creta 1.4 CRDi (I know you all want to call him an idiot), but the best part was that he went in to check Nexon and was quite impressed too; it's just that the badge on the nose didn't impress him.

Moral of the story: The people who used to hate the brand are at least now entering the dealerships - more footfall == more sales any ways!
