Re: Tata Kestrel Q501 / Q502 SUV (1.5 MJD) Spotted Testing

The only thing in my mind is why would anyone go for the Discovery Sport after this?
The 2.0 Ingenium is a slouch with 147bhp, 382Nm compared to the 2.0 MJD with 170bhp and 350Nm of torque (Can be tuned further)

Dont Expect you will get all technology and goodies from Discovery Sports TATA just using bases Land Rover LR-MS platform, shared with the Range Rover Evoque and derived from the Ford EUCD platform. JLR ingenium engine power rating ranges from 147BHP,180BHP and 250BHP, its quite expensive to localize in india due to these things considered TATA decided to go with FIAT's 2.0L multijet2 engine

What technology and goodies?
Tata is going to offer Harman Audio on Q501/502 as it is
Else you can opt for aftermarket speakers from Bose and any good headunit

JLR Ingenium is only in 147bhp tune in India for Discovery Sport
My father was very keen on Discovery Sport but the high price , poor performance and skimping of basic things like leather seats on variants except HSE Luxury were a put off
Ingenium is also a very new lineup of engines that is yet to prove itself

Fiat 2.0 MJD is from a proven lineage of engines thats proven itself
It has more output in current tune than the Discovery Sport
Also 2.0 MJD is already sold with ZF9 gearbox , the exact same one found in Discovery Sport

Would you pay 3 times the price just for "technology and goodies"? I dont see what would be missing in Q501/Q502 other than some luxury bits

Discovery Sport itself is a very bland car compared to X3/X5, GLC/GLE and Q5/Q7 (It sits between two segments)
The only pro for Discovery Sport was that they didnt skimp on spare tyre and In personally liked the interior colours schemes and practical design over the competition's "screaming" consoles

Q501/502 is gonna be an interesting car
Overall its gonna get a Ford platform(American) with a Fiat engine(Italian) with a ZF9 gearbox(German) and Harman Audio with little Tata input (Indian) in there (hopefully maintenance costs should be low)
Seems like a winner to me

The new Tata SUV, which has been spied testing in the country, is expected to be offered in five-seat and seven-seat configurations.

While both versions will be based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform, the SUVs are said to be completely different in terms of design and feel. The versions will also share FCA’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine, but in different states of tune – 140hp for the five-seater and 170hp for the seven-seater. Two-wheel and four-wheel-drive variants are expected to be on offer as well.

In terms of pricing, Tata is likely to peg the five-seat SUV at a price close to Rs 13 lakh, while the seven-seater is expected to have a base ex-showroom price tag of about Rs 15 lakh, thus targeting the Jeep Compass as well as the Hyundai Creta.

Tata is always known for its attractive pricing. Hope it doesn't affect Hexa sales.

These are monocoque while Hexa is ladder frame
So both will possess different character for driving etc

The sneek peek of both these vehicles looks mind blowing. It looks just like the a small door slit view of the LEXUS and FORTUNER cars. Looks sleek and modern designs. I'm loving it. Surely it will be a mind blowing design.

Re: Tata H5 SUV (Q501 / Q502) Spotted Testing

Here we go another teaser of TATA H5
That's one stylish & sharp looking design for the upcoming SUV. Having seen Nexon & Tigor coming straight from the Expo 2016 as it is to the roads, I think TML will not alter the basic looks/design of the cars and we'll have the real products being very close to these concepts that are coming in Expo this year. If TML maintains the same ideology like Nexon & Tigor, I am sure, this SUV will create lot of buzz and praise for TML.

Regards

Akash

A modified Hexa resemblence would be more suited

Tata motors has forgotten Indica but people still remember it, mark of a respect for its designers and making the nation truly mobile. And Indica is for TML products just like Beetle is for VW.[;)]
