Tata Harrier touchscreen vendor is same as Range Rover Velar luxury SUV

Though interiors have not yet been specifically detailed, spy shots reveal a practical and well appointed interior with push button start, steering mounted controls and a large 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Speaking about this touchscreen, it will be the biggest ever for Tata, and will also be the best we have seen from Tata. This 8.8 inch touchscreen is sourced from Visteon, who is a popular auto component supplier. They also provide touchscreen units in the ultra-luxurious Range Rover Velar.

I have been reading a lot about harrier and following posts on harrier on this and other forum and internet. Some things said about harrier just caught my eyes.

People are saying harrier looks like the nexon. and during nexon launch, people had compared nexon to that of the erstwhile indica. So if harrier looks like nexon and nexon looks like indica, does harrier look like indica? :stupid:
You steal my words. It seems TATA is again caught in monotony of the design like indica's sweep back headlamp.

Rear look similar to Nexon which I hate.

So some more rants based on the rumors on Harrier,
Price : people want it to be lower or at max at par with Creta.
Features : People want it at par if not more than Compass.
Creta offers a 1.5L diesel mill, offering 126 bhp, with normal nothing unusual interiors. No sunroof. Prices start from 10L goes unto 18L for an autobox.

Compass, all the bells and whistles and hoot to drive car, 170bhp, sunroof and 4x4 and what not, but price even touching 30L on road. Now no ones complaining either.

Harrier, expected price on road, (max) 20L ohh. no sunroof, no automatic, no 4x4 only manual.
But what Harrier would give in those rumored big 20 is
a great vehicle with Land Rover architecture,
great fresh new look,
140 horses (20 more than create and 30 less than compass),
acres of space, (almost the size of XUV with only 2 rows of seats)
Great boot space again from above observation vs XUV,
Fantastic ICE Harman with visteon display and connectivity,
Compass engine,
Tuscon Autobox (only to be launched later, again rumored)

So in all this will be a great product, although people who have booked it have backed out due to so called absence of autobox at the time of launch.

Well I would not worry about autobox or sunroof, if I have a fantastic ride quality, nice space, great ICE, and beast that looks great, which has decent off road capability, I would have nothing to complain.
Now, I have a 2 ton beast with 140horses power, its also 4x2 not 4x4. But never felt it one underpowered. Its a Tata developed varicor engine.

Now when you have a smaller beast, being a monocoque, the weights going to be much lower, by few hundred kilos (say 1600kgs same as compass) these 140 horses would be more than enough,

Some more spy shots
tata-harrier-petrol-automatic-spied.jpg
If you notice, the Alloy wheel in the front is different shade and looks more like flower-petal. Where as the rear one is the one we see and we don't like. Just a shade difference and its looks lot better. So people booking Harrier may get at option to upgrade for this better looking alloy. Or it could be DIY job to make the bland 5 spoke alloy look nice.
Quoting for the website : Another interesting fact that caught our attention was the way the Harrier’s engine went through the gears, hinting at the fact that this particular model could have been a petrol automatic on the test.

Another speculation.

As of now if the reports are to be believed, there are few Indian made cars being tested at GNCAP testing center in Germany, and the GNCAP secretary mentioned that India may gets first 5 star car by the end of the year.

So the only cars that come to my mind are
1. Yaris,
2. Ford Freestyle
3. Harrier
4. Alturas g4

These are the cars I feel could be ones which have potential of scoring 5 star and more so I feel that harrier would be that car. Yup being a bit biased.

Now Yaris will not score 5 stars. The Yaris for Africa score 3 stars. Don't think Toyota will make any more adjustments to Yaris to make it 5 star for India.
New ford Figo got 3 stars so probably, the Freestyle may go upto 4 max. So that gives us 2 worthy competitors Harrier and Alturas
Bust just speculating.

Tata Harrier spied next to Maruti Ertiga, S Cross – Looks huge on the road

The highly anticipated 2018 Tata Harrier, a 5 seater SUV, has entered production at the company plant in Pune. It is the company’s first product to be designed on Impact Design 2.0 philosophy, engineered on the new generation architecture, derived from the Land Rover D8 and developed in association with Jaguar Land Rover.

Tata Harrier LED DRL will also be turn indicator – Similar to Audi, Mercedes SUVs

Latest spy images confirm that the front LED DRL of the Tata Harrier will also be the turn indicator. It is a similar style of indicator which is seen in expensive SUVs from Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

More details appear:
https://news.maxabout.com/cars/tata/tata-harrier-interior-photos-leaked/

More Analysis
The DTE in the images shows 675km to empty, for a tank full and 425km to empty for 60% tank from the images from the web.
Tata-Harrier-Interior-Leaked-2.jpg

Tata-Harrier-Interior-Leaked-New-3.jpg
So now, Assuming we have Total tankful range of 675km, and if the tank is 45 Litres we are getting average for around 15kmpl

Previously in my posts, we had seen DTE of 1572km for 90% full tank and assuming a 70 litre tank gave numbers close to 25kmpl. So are there images from Petrol and Diesel vehicles? Not sure. Just assumptions galore.

Also did you notice, the blue band seem to decrease with lowering of the fuel level, some ingenuity?

Seems like many of the TML fans are accepting the rumors like No Autobox or No Petrol version available at launch. May be available later with bigger version H7X in mid 2019. But I think it will hit big on sales of Harrier in bad way.

4WD is not choice of everybody, Of course I will get 2WD Harrier instead of 4WD as I want a spacious, comfortable, good ride quality SUV not a hardcore off roader.

BUT Autobox?? I won't buy a new vehicle without Automatic Transmission. Vehicle without Automatic transmission is BIG NO for Me!! And I all this I am saying looking at the current scenario of Metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore etc.

I think TML should hurry and give Automatic option at the time of launch. Autobox is must have feature every car manufacturer should add in their product line up. At least a option of Automatic variant at bit higher price.

Yes, if you want the vehicle to be a called as luxury vehicle, it should be loaded to the brim. Especially if you are Tata or Mahindra. Expectation from Junta is very high. Pricing has to be extremely low, so what Indian OEM should give is a car above its segment and price below its segment. Even then these OEMs are not assured of humongous success which is experienced by the foreign brands.

Very unfair but thats the way market is.

But I expect Tata to launch the Autobox as a day one offering albiet a high price tag, however, if there are serious constraints from what are being rumored they should give a time line of launch in very near foreseeable future.

Tata Harrier SUV interiors teased officially for the first time

Its unique lighting cluster houses both headlamps and fog lamps, which is a relatively new trend in the automotive world. Front section has piano black grille with TATA logo in the centre and flanked by LED DRLs at the top corners.

Dejavu moment for Tatas:

Tatas can once again say to Indians, "Good news for even those who are not booking the Harrier, we have made compass cheaper by 1L"

In this image did you notice the gear knob? The Manual Gear knob? What do you notice? The Gear Pattern is pretty much non Tata like. so is it JLR GB or manual ones is also Hyundai. Non sure how the Hyundai Gear pattern is.

Aren’t these 1 lakh discount offers due to year end time?

Tata is going to launch Harrier in 2019 and am sure they would consider the competitors pricing as well.

About the gear pattern, Manza had the same pattern.

Coming to auto box, even compass is not coming with automatic option if am not wrong.

After initial booking and sales rush Tata will launch auto variant, which is a kind of norm for most of the launches from almost all the manufacturers.

Tata got only one manufacturing/assembly line for Harrier and the kind of segment Harrier is going to be in is not easy to get big sales for Tata as a brand. So it’s wise to give limited variants and take care of supply & demand in an efficient manner

Once initial surge is taken care of then automatic will be launched.

And the customisation option which Tata is trying to bring is not going to be easy to maintain as far a timely delivery and inventory management is concerned. On the other hand automatic GB is not in house unit and procuring an outsourced GB will be an costly affair which will increase the asking price, so initially it’s going to be manual variants with customise your self option. This will take care of the initial pricing as well, how many will plonk a high price for a Tata 5 seater with a high price due to outsourced GB?

Another strategy is to make Harrier more towards premium and enthusiastic product and H7X for mass users with 7 seats, same strategy like evoque and disco

Just my thoughts
