Re: New Tata car to rival Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno – Launch by Diwali 2019

BY 2019,
its a little too late, by that time Baleno and i20 would have been upgraded and would be matching the specs and features of the upcoming Tata premium Hatch.

This will make things more interesting in the already busy Hatchback segment. If Tata can replicate what they did with Tiago ( interiors quality, ride quality ) + 4 pot engine + Improved service experience by 2020, then we indeed have a winner here !!
Not to mention the Harman kardon system which will be the new bench mark in budget hatchback's infotainment system

2019 Tata 45X spied with Orange body colour – Maruti Baleno rival gets touchscreen

Tata Motor’s new premium hatchback, codenamed 45X as on date, is poised for launch in India next year. It has been showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in concept format and has been recently spied at a parking lot in Bangalore; drawing attention to some features which will be making its way to the production model.

Tata 45X will be the company’s first hatchback to come in with Tata’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy and is also the first car to be built on the Advanced Modular Platform developed by Tata Motors. Here it is seen with a bright orange exterior paint finish, which can be clearly seen. Along with the 45X, there were also the Harrier and XUV500, parked in the same lot.

In terms of styling, the 45X will be similar to the concept. It will be longer than the Tiago but will continue to sport a sub 4 meter length so as to take advantage of tax cuts. Tata 45X production model will get sleek front grille, projector head lamps, LED tail lamps, generous wheel arches which are common to all cars designed according to Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 language.

Interiors have also been spied. It will feature a large central touchscreen infotainment system, a radical dashboard, analog dials, a T shaped central console and AC vents under the central screen. Dashboard is done dual tone of black and brown, seats are seen in brown. Various color combinations and use of high quality materials will also be offered along with accessory options and in-cabin storage spaces

Engine details on the Tata 45X could include a 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine also seen powering the Tata Nexon. These engines deliver 110 PS power and could be mated to 6 speed manual or dual clutch gearbox, which is also under development.

Tata 45X will be produced from the Tata Sanand facility in Gujarat. It launch sometime in 2019 when it will compete with the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. No pricing details have also been revealed but estimates put it in the Rs 6.5-10 lakhs price segment.

Near-production Tata 45X hatchback spied

Tata’s upcoming premium hatchback, currently codenamed the 45X, has been spied testing in near-production form. Based on the image, one can see that the styling of the close-to-production model has stayed true to the concept that was first displayed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The spy image is the best one so far and reveals more than had previously been seen.

The image shows that Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 styling cues have taken centre stage. The model sports a raked roofline that tapers sharply to the rear, the five-spoke alloy wheels are chunky and fill the large wheel arches well and the wing mirrors are larger than the ones used on the Tiago and Nexon as well. The tail-lamps seem to be large wrap-around units with slits separating the each section. The boot also features the same sort of kink that was featured on the concept. Finally, the rear door handle has been mounted on near the C-pillar as seen on the third-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift.

As per the brand’s Impact Design 2.0 language, Tata has promised a variety of colour combinations and high-quality materials to “enhance the perception of tactile quality.” The hatchback is also expected to come with multiple personalisation and accessory options.

About two weeks ago, the Tata 45X was spotted testing at the Kari Motor Speedway – the tests were probably performed in order to fine-tune suspension settings and dynamic traits of the upcoming Tata hatchback. Not much is known about the production-spec 45X’s powertrain details, but we expect more powerful versions of the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines that currently make 110hp, each, on the Nexon compact SUV.

In order to battle with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20, Tata is expected to equip the 45X’s roomy and practical cabin with a free-standing touchscreen infotainment screen that will double as a reverse camera display. The hatchback will also sport a traditional T-shaped centre console, analogue dials and rectangular AC vents mounted below the infotainment screen.

The production-spec 45X is expected to go on sale in India during the 2019 festive season at a competitive price point.

Full credits to good friend Ron for getting these spy shots of the upcoming Tata Premium hatchback, the 45X in its near production form.
The car really looks 80%close to the concept. Wide and sharp. The wait begins.
