Thanks Vishwas. If possible, if you have experience in this region, can you pls draft a travel plan for us from bangalore, say for 2 days stay.

Regarding rain, would it be raining even in Jan which we have planed.

Its uncertain in that region, but it will be cold out there.

Forgot to ask, will it be crowded during our visit [26th is holiday]. Do we need to book rooms in advance, if yes how many days before. If we could have any influence from our friends in that area it might be good.

These places are much crowded in the holidays, we don't have an option but to book rooms in advance, it depends on what type of hotels you prefer.

Nice Suggestion there Vishwas, Chikmagalur is a beautiful place that too during the winters,
adding to the points there,
there are quiet a lot of places to see there, from tea estates, to temples and high peaks to water falls. Weather is great during this time and there are plenty of home-stays which can easily hold high numbers just in case

Great. Assuming Chikmagalur is also part of MALNAD Western ghats, shall we freeze Chikmagalur as center point of destination?



I just found the KM from different cities. Pls let me know is this feasible guys. Am sure, it is very far from chennai, Hyd, Mumbai, Pune and Tiruvandapurma. If they can not make it on road, we should plan in such a way that they reach bangalore thru some other mode.

Hope people agree for this to make the meet great gala.

I think of like this on the tentative schedule, it again purely depends on travelling time involved.

24/1/2013 - all the members will reach to the nearest cities like Bangalore, coimbatore and stay for night. I call them as base camps
25/1/2013 - members will start to the destination(I am just assuming chickmaglur or thirthahalli) and reach by lunch time as all of us should have lunch together, then start going around and spend our time till night and finish dinner and sleep.
26/1/2013 - go around to the other places till afternoon and finish lunch and start back to the respective base camps. Stay back for night
27/1/2013 - proceed back to the respective destinations and reach by afternoon are evening, so that again they are fresh enough to go to the offices on monday.

This is tentative and we can alter it however we want, I gave this just to have members an idea how many days it takes

Before proceeding, can some one tell us which is opt place for us. Either chickmaglur or thirthahalli. Because there is around 60 KM difference between both destinations. Apart from distance which is the right place of us.

Sethu, Sir, For example, I have opted to start from Hyderabad to Bangalore on 24th morning and comfortably reaching there by evening. So similar thing can be opted by Mumbai,Pune,Chennai people if they want to proceed with their rides. For this first you people have to make a pool with other members and select a diesel ride to proceed like that. Only the thing they need to find a stay at Bangalore for that night and in return. I think for mumbai and pune people going straight to chickmaglur will save the time as they can reach there directly, I do not know the route

Just I had prepared this plans based on my findings in Google Maps. It could be right or wrong, feasible or not, base station could change or continue pls give your comments. I expect people from the specific region respond to this since they might have fair idea about the routes to some extent.

Only thing I found which is difficult is reaching the base station by morning of 25th and fresh up and proceed to chikmaglur immediately. This also requires early morning arrivals at the base station. Instead of this I suggest people to reach with cars by pooling to base station by night and take rest, or chennai people can opt to start in a evening train/bus to bangalore and reach by night, but I still suggest to think of coming in cars. Because if everybody opt to come by train, then we will have lots of load on bangalore cars and we will have less cars at the meet !!

Thank you Mr. Ram, Yes we would require you people help for arranging something. Who else we will ask. We will ask you for sure when it requires.

I was assuming that people will reach early to the base station, in case of train or bus. If it is not feasable then we can always reqest them to leave in day time and reach the base station in the everning itself.

Yes as you said, we should have more number of cars. In that case we wont feel lonely to drive [in case every one opt to drive their own rides?]. [Lot of people opt for SINGLE mode] So any suggestions?

Simple try and have a mini meet in chennai with regard to inter region meet. Share the ideas and finalise pooling of the cars. Each car with 4 people on board fuel sharing basis

Even I request Bangalore people to have a mini meet, but who will co ordinate this ??

So this Idea should work. For Mumbai and Pune the members themselves not participated in the thread, hence it is difficult to suggest something. There should be a team coordinator for each area like one for mumbai&pune, one for Bangalore, one for chennai and one from Trivandrum,kochi,kannur and other kerala destinations

Just curious to know in this meet family are allowed ?
