Today, My Car decor guy was talking abt the same topic of sun film and he says he has received a set which is 50% and RTO approved and also says If any cops catch you, please give me a call. I will give you warranty and Bill which can be shows.
He also claims to have installed this film on Many gov vehicles in Bang.
Can anyone help me know If i can have this done to my car?

No Sunfilm is legal. Only tinted glass which comes with car as standard are legal, everything else which is stuck on glass is illegal. This includes not only sunfilms, but also blinds.

Regardless of whatever he claims, the fact cannot be changed that Supreme Court has banned everything on windows that obstructs the vision. Don’t fall for such gimmicks.

You can get the tints from him and assure from him that if cops catch you and fine you despite of showing the warranty card, then he have to pay for fine plus have to refund the cost you paid for applying tints. . After listening to this he will directly say no to you.

Some more info on sunfilms in Mumbai - My mom saw the report on the same channel today afternoon. I guess I must have missed the first part of the report when I saw it yesterday evening. Anyway, she said a cop was interviewed by the reporter and he said that only 70 VLT in the front and 50 VLT on the sides and rear is allowed. Everyone else is violating the law!

Now, clearly that is not what SC has said. But I suppose SC's not going to fine me, the cop on the road is. So, the next time I go out I am going to carry my original 3M invoice which says that everything on my car is 70 VLT. Let's see what happens.

Personally, I believe the chances of me getting into an accident are more from the frustration and discomfort from the heat while driving around in the afternoon than from reduced visibility at 70 VLT. Although, I think the front screen actually improves the visibility at night by reducing the glare.

you have sun control film in the front windshield? is it allowed? are you comfort?

In some cities cops are very strict as they are not allowing any kind of sun films and in some cities they are liberale stopping only dark sun filmed cars !! But according to supreme court judgement no film is allowed.

So I when I spoke to the maruti dealer while getting sun film done on my car, he said to go with RTA approved(earlier before court judgement) ratios and most of the times cops in my city are not objecting for that and also he told me do not invest more money on the films as incase cops what them to remove it is a loss to us. So I have just fixed V cool regular once and I am bit happy with sun entering and less effect of heat inside and if cops want me to remove the films also no problem as I just spent 1500/- for them and I am already using since last 6 months.

So,Sethu any decision on sun films should be city specific and as per cops mood, so select anything according to that. Incase cop stop you ask you to remove it, then no certificate of dealer will be treated as valid according to court and you will have to remove it.

So,Sethu any decision on sun films should be city specific and as per cops mood, so select anything according to that. Incase cop stop you ask you to remove it, then no certificate of dealer will be treated as valid according to court and you will have to remove it.

Yes. I understand that. to be more specific, it is location specific than city specific when we read the above posts. Even in chennai I did not see any cops doing it recently. Even I have seen couple of cops doing some checkings and that too only for two wheelers [that too mostly those who not nor wearing helmets] and share auto [Poor fellows] only not for sun control film.

I have to wait till I get caught.

I have also not removed sunfilms but came to chennai but didnt see any cop stoping for suncontrol films.
In pondicherry no problems till today.

You can keep the cool sunflims with no issues across all cities the only other thing required is to host the ruling party flag also in your car, buy the top 2 party flags of southern state(s) and host it according to the ruling party / state and situation

remember to remove the flag during bad political situation such as cauvery issue

You can keep the cool sunflims with no issues across all cities the only other thing required is to host the ruling party flag also in your car, buy the top 2 party flags of southern state(s) and host it according to the ruling party / state and situation

remember to remove the flag during bad political situation such as cauvery issue

This idea is very dangerous at times, I have seen that personally !! So better to pay the fine in case a cop stops and if he asks you to remove then remove it, thats all

I don't know why you all are interested in cheapo films ? There are really good films which reduce UV rays by 65% or more with less darkness. It is UV which gives heat & not sunlight. In morning, sunlight has more infrared radiations & in afternoon, it is UV. Look for films which cut UV & not light.
For our Dzire, I have 70 VLT on side with more UV protection, looks just like tinted glass.
