you can do one thing though, remove the negative cable from the battery for 5 minutes, and then drive around with economy driving style and see if it helps. It will erase the temporary fuel maps and revert to hyundais fuel maps.
Whats the oil color.
open the air filter box and inspect if its clogged with dirt, i checked mine a few days back and was surprised to see leaves flowers honey bees all stuck up in the filter, tapping it on the wall did not help so i took a fine screw driver and got rid of the trash. I guess since the air intake is directly after the from grille with hyundai logo, lots of stuff will make its way in there.

also if you notice the petrol verna has a bigger variance between city driving, mild high way driving and full highway driving than any other car.
on highways/expressways the aveo goes to 13 and in congested city driving 10 minimum. But verna expressway driving it can reach 17 mild highway driving 13 and city driving 10 or less, also the verna drinks petrol like anything while idling. correct me if i am wrong

Hey guys i was away for few days so couldnt contribute much. Gone through all the verna related threads today. I am surprised all of sudden all you petrol guys started hating verna which you admire it so lot. All you scared me. It does have some negatives but when i sat on drivers seat i start loving it again and again.

My bumper issue is not being solved yet as bumper is not reached at showroom. The guy make silly excuses that the bumper is being imported from korea. Does it? Other than that no problem till today. I still get good FE about 21 to 22 on highways and 18 to 19 in city. The maximum speed i touched is 140 kph on NH3.

Completing 8000 kms. The engine oil has become black. The 2nd service is nearing so the oil will be replaced.

Hi aristo the worry is its giving less on the regular petrol itself.
May be the AC is taking a beating in this summer - but I guess Bangalore should be cooler than most places in India. Can you try driving with AC off - just to make sure.

Absolutely right Nick. There is a lot of variation in FEs between Highway and City driving. Even within the highway sedate driving yields way better FE than a little spirited driving which tends to bring the FE drastically.

Congrats Sandy on completing 8000 kms! [clap] How is your car doing? Let us know your experiences.

As you rightly said, everytime I sit on the drivers seat, my passion for this car goes up!

even me as a human is a rare case [:D] waiting for aristo to post the manual calculations. if he indeed got 18/19kmpl i bet diesel guys gonna have sad faces [evil] but ill be honest from what I've heard, the verna petrol is indeed a fuel efficient car.

by the way did you top up somewhere in between?
This is really a nice FE for a Petrol Car. If Verna VTVT can deliver 18/19....CRDi guys should be even more happy...They might get even better FE. I have seen 22.44/lt in some.

I am also planning for a ICE upgrade. Did you upgrade the Head Unit or just the speakers? I was thinking of adding an amp and upgrading the speakers. Not sure though how this will work out. Also, I have a Roof Mount car LCD with DVD player. Thought of installing that as well.

Interesting stats there aristo 16.5 kmpl does seem factual. Also nick 7 kmpl in city is weird I get 11 kmpl average in city!

Also the point being from the time the fuel light glows you have an average of 50 Kms on the DTE that is including the 2 ltr blinker notification.

Alright ...just wanted to share how Hyundai want me to test FE.

1. Fill full tank Fuel from a petrol station

2. Fill it until the first cut off only (i.e the petrol dispenser will automatically shut supply), Dont fill a drop more than this point.

3. Reset you Trip meter to Zero and drive as much as you want and return to same petrol station and same petrol dispenser bunk. (Very important)

4. Again Fill it until the first cut off only (The accuracy will be ±10-15ml), Dont fill a drop more than this point.

5. Calculate how much petrol you filled and how much you drove.

6. Smile...you got the accurate mileage

(As told to me my Hyundai Service Floor incharge)

It really works if you follow the above instructions.

Try and please let me know.

thanks
Vinod

Note:

The Reserve capacity is not 2 ltrs in a car, its for a bike. The Reserve capacity for a sedan would be atleast 7-8 lts depending on the Manufacturer.

I have not replaced the stock HU. Planned to replace it during diwali. Till now i have replaced all four speakers with component and coaxial speakers and added a Polk sub woofer which gives great punch. Also a 4 channel amp for speaker and 2 channel amp for woofer. Be extra careful while upgrading the ICE. Go to some known professional/qualified installer for perfect wiring. As the stock HU does not have pre outs, you have to be very careful during installation. All the experiences are shared at audio upgrade thread for verna.

yeah , its called the full tank method. many people do this. i on the other hand have downloaded an android application "fuel log"

so i just enter every fuel fill-up and voila it gives all the stats[;)] everything.

another thing are you guys having problem with the AC ?[confused]

sometimes it lose the cooling. it happened twice already. i keep the ac at 23* with blower 2 even if the outside temperature is 40*.

but still yesterday in the evening , it stopped cooling. there was a strong gale yesterday with lots of dust and only after that it happened. so do you think something clogged ?

the previous time it happened in a sunny afternoon.
