PRO RACING X tuning box ordered.

I was looking forward to install petes tuning box which will make the car more powerful, and i was pretty sure that it wont affect the parts in the car because the same engine has a higher state of tune without switching other parts in other countries.
So the price of petes tuning box was about 25k. I was doing many research work before putting my money, so i saw this ProracingX tuning box in ebay international. It is a polish company, It also manufactures OEM parts for VAG (according to what i read about it). To my surprise the price was just 2k. So i wanted to give it a try.

Skoda octavia 1.9 tdi 66kw 90PS 210Nm(torque).
Promised output 88kw 120 PS 256 Nm.
They also promised .5-1.5 Litre/100km improvement in fuel economy.
It also comes with a ON/OFF switch it seems.

Seemed like a great deal, and bang for the buck. even if im going to waste 2k on it, i really wanted to try it. I got a mail that the item is shipped. Will receive the item in 7 days(from Ireland). Will write a full review after installing the power box. [;)]

DOOR SCUFF PLATES

Fitted door scuff plates today. Costed 700 bucks. I really wanted to get the ones with LED lights, but was not able to find one for the Octy. [confused] . Managed to get these ones with "Octavia" sculpted . The quality of the material is good. My friends said it looks good, but personally i just found it to be OKAY.

After my exams i'll sell my petrol Optra and buy a used Octavia 1.9 TDi. I did some calculations and my petrol costs were slightly above Rs200000 for last year. The fuel efficiency of Octavia is brilliant.Octavia will run around 4 times cheaper than my current car.

and jeno turbo with 120 PS 256 Nm ,your octavia will be a beast. Please tell us about the change in f.e and performance figures when you get the box.

Dyno Test is the only way known to me to get performance figures. But i personally don't know about any Dyno test center in my city. If i was in your place i'd have some drag races with verna, laura and optra magnum . It will give you rough idea of your cars performance.

I got those scuff plates from ebay

Car Door Sill Plate Step Plate For Skoda Octavia | eBay

And i received tuning box, got it fixed. More power is easily felt, but there is no change in the power curve. As octy already has enough low end torque i dont think i really need it. And it put more pressure on the clutch and other parts, which is not worth. Because i was looking for a box which will increase the high or mid range torque/HP. But this box is good for the price 2k. really worth if u are just looking for more power, nothing else.

Yes, Octavia is now stopped, but i never find it difficult to find spare parts as of now, because most of the parts are shared in VAG cars. Some of the Laura parts can go with Octavia, (also jetta parts might work). Even Rapids parts might fit the octavia. And still if you dont get things right, there almost all required parts in Ebay international, all VW golf MK4 parts go with octavia. And i heard that the skoda parts are getting cheaper. Skoda Alloys for octy in 2005 costed about 50k, now for Rapid is just about 25k. And i hope this will be true for all other parts.

Go for a JVC or Pioneer , but if you wanna fix a reverse camera in future, going for a 2din system with a LCD will make more sense. Depends on your personal need. You can also check the stock 2 din player which comes with Laura/Superb which has a LCD and a decent audio quality with loads of feature.

71 k Service @ performance automotive

So had a successful 12000 kms of driving after the 60k service. I know that 15 k is the service interval but wanted to stay on the safer side before going for a long drive. (and for some personal reasons[evil]).

What was done?

  • Timing belt with 5 tensioners.(will hold good for another 75k kms)
  • New softer brake pads
  • New Discs
  • Engine oil (synthetic 5L)
  • Full Wax coating
  • General Service stuffs (gear oil, air filter , brake oil etc)
  • Cleared Error codes from ECU
Total Cost : 26 k

26k might look like a big amount for a service but on the brighter side. The timing belt assembly itself costed (10k) and need not be changed for another 75k. Discs need not be changed for atleast another 30k kms. Full Wax coating for every 30K kms will be enough (more of time dependent than kms).

So next service should cost me less than half of the amount i payed this time.

Experience with Performance Automotive , porur , chennai:

In one word EXCELLENT. Thay are very knowledgeable guys and they charge very reasonably. To my surprise they charged less than my Mechanic who was my friend. Now i feel very relaxed about Skoda ASS problem. First, who needs ASS when you have a super Garage with all facilities at reasonable prices.
The performance automotive guys not only do general servicing , but also performance mods, i saw heavily modified Maruti Esteems designed for rally.
The best part. I got a call from the supervisor(of Performance Automotive) a week later, after the service was done. They just wanted to check if the car is doing well. How many of them who service the car care about the condition of the car after they get the cash? But the best part is yet to come. Again i got a call from the owner , with the same question. It might be the job of the Superviosor to check with the customers. But the owner also called me and asked about the satisfaction. Now who needs Skoda ASS?? [lol]

What was my Answer to the question?(from owner and supervisor)

I replied them with a Lethargic "yes, im satisfied". But the truth was far better than my answer . The car felt like it was transformed. There is no screeching sound from the Engine Bay(which used to be there till the engine reaches the optimal temperature). Turbo whistle is more audible now. Brakes tranformed from average to good. (not excellent due to lack of ABS). Clutch was also a little different from how it used to be. Now the car starts to move with the slightest release of the clutch. Steering also felt lighter than it used to be(very heavy). May be due to lubrications.

Hi
I am owning a 2009 Skoda Octavia Ambient . She has done 60,000 KM now.
today i have contacted the 2 skoda dealers in Bangalore . Both told that timing belt must to be replaced along with few other pumps . Do i relay need to change the timing belt in 60k even though dealer suggesting to do ? ( I have my friends using Octavia changed timing belts in 85ks and 90ks kms)
Dealers put up an approximation for 55 to 60k . Do i stick to the dealer as 60k is a major service ? . I have never done service out side the skoda dealer .
Any good non dealer service centre in bangalore for Skoda ?
