That's a very well maintained Octi, that you have managed to lay your hands on. Congrats jeno turbo. Could you also share the details about the search for the car (Where you found it and how). Any procedures you followed to verify the car's history? Also, here are my 2 cents to maintain your ride (if you have not already done it)

1. Change the Timing belt and replace the pulley as well(no matter how good it looks)
2. Check the gear foundations/shafts and all rubber components
3. Check AC hoses

These are only a few things I can think off but I'm sure there is a lot more. Hope some experts can pour in there suggestions too.

Wish you miles of happiness. Btw, the car is a Killer.

Conrats…

I am another proud owner of 2008 octy..its nice to see people have the kind of admiration that they have for this car.

I so agree with Jeno about seeing an Octy in the rear view mirror & making space for the vehicle…My previous car was an Scorpio & was very proud of owning it.But everytime I was on the highway I would see myself making way for an Octy. Ever since I have had an desire to own an Skoda Octy TDI. This dream was fulfilled a few months back when I bought a '08 Silver Octavia which had clocked 30k kms. I have been enjoying driving the Octy eversince & I make it a point to crawl up on other cars on the highway & flash my headlite requesting them to make way for my car & its nice to see the reaction on the drivers face to see another car overtake them when they are cruising @ 120kmph :)

Thanks buddy,
I went on a long drive couple of days back, today while returning to my place, my friend took this video. And i got that same feeling that u refer to. This time my friend shot a video while i was driving. And its not a top speed or high revving video, it is just a lazy/relaxed driving video.

I have Octavia 1.9 TDi which just completed 60K. I contacted Skoda service and he mentioned below items to be done.

1) Replace timing belt -- 12K
2) Replace gear box oil -- 3K
3) Regular oil chnage and maintenance. 8 - 9 K

The total code is around 25K.

The car in this thread was also bough with similar miliage. I just want to know if i have to get anything else done and if this price is high.

Thanks. not sure if there were additional labor cost, but just looking at the gear oil cose the skoda folks were charging 3k, while you spent 600.[anger]

Yeah, the difference between 3k and 600 is really high ! next time please check the brand or quality measure and post it. Lets see if im getting low quality brake oil or you are getting over priced treatment from the Service center.

Can you tell me the cost of Octavia's timing belt and Clutch assembly with flywheel ?

I still didnt get into that situation to replace those parts , so no idea ! [glasses]

Even i read the manual recently and noticed this point. I had been using additives till now. But planned not to use again. Why do something which the manufacturer does not recommend.

I think its something like , "don't use Extra premium diesel on you skodas"
