Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

Buddy, I guess the duster has 98 PCD wheels which is quite uncommon if not rare,so, finding alloys for it can be quite a task. Still have a look at the below site : http://www.alloywheelsindia.com/renault/duster.htm

Hi dude. Talked to the dealer today and he said the PCD is 114+. Also in the alloywheelsindia.com the spec for duster alloys says 114+. So I guess it is 114+.

Oh, is it?? well I'd read somewhere on the net that it's 98 and hence rare. So, that's not correct. Good for you then as 114 has a lot of options to choose from.

@Vshwas: Well, the Duster could certainly do with a better name like 'Boxer'.

That was superb Viswas.

You said it Sam, Boxer is a much better name than Duster.

[They say, automobile companies do a lot of research - about local usages and cultural aspects - before finalising a name before a launch in a particular country. Why they chose Duster?]

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

I saw Duster very closely this time, did 360 degree walk-around.
The rear didn't even feel it to be SUV or CUV or UV. :D
The face looks like a kid who was made to stand without his fault.
Only the side angle looks good. The best thing is the GC, which is indeed good.
But as a package, it didn't attract me. The tail lights looked like cost cutting measures, plain & bland like indicab.

Even I liked Duster design but interior was not at all good. Red color is the best color and appealing.

Yes, except for the few things in the interior like door handles, AC outlets, I found the Duster to be perfect. It looks great from outside and the real USP is its ride quality and handling. Seems Renault finally has a winner in hand now. With good A.S.S, this can be the real game changer for Renault in India.

Rather than an insult I guess it is a compliment for Duster. Like a boxer, Duster is stocky, medium sized, and powerful.

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

Renault Indian announced a price hike for its top selling Duster SUV ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 across India. The Duster was launched in June with an introductory price of Rs. 7.19 Lakh for its entry petrol variant. The new prices will be effective from October 1, 2012. Duster has received an overwhelming response from the Indian customers clocking 20,000 bookings since launch.

The introductory prices will be maintained for all the bookings made until the end of August 2012, delivered or not at the time of the price hike. The price for Duster petrol variant will see a price increase by Rs.30,000 whereas the Duster diesel will see a price hike by Rs. 40,000.

Renault India is rapidly increasing its dealership network. Currently, the company has 70 dealerships which will increase to 100 strong by the end of 2012. Referring to this hike, Marc Nassif, MD Renault India Pvt Ltd, said “We had launched the Duster with a very attractive introductory price and the response from the customers has been tremendous. We are very thankful to our early adopters who deposited trust in the Renault brand. The Duster is well on its way to become a benchmark product in its segment.

To meet the demand for the Duster we have increased our production to 3 shifts in our Chennai factory as well as the outputs of our vendors. Facing an increase in raw material prices and instability in foreign exchange, factors which are beyond our control, we had to increase the retail price of Renault Duster. We have tried to keep the increase to a minimal level to ensure that our customers get the best value for money. With the new price the Duster remains one of its kind and a unique value proposition in the Indian market with its unmatched comfort, ride and handling, roominess, premium features and fuel efficiency.

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

Let's see how the market takes to this. The Duster was already overprced by Rs. 50000 to begin with but the Indians do not seem to mind. This price increase has given all the more reason to wait for the Ecosport and the Storme.

By the way, Top Gear India says that the Duster is the best riding car in the country, even better than the Mercedeses/Audis/BMWs. Any comments on this? Raja?

i have seen many prospective customers jump to the XUV w6 sans the price hike.

wish they have the presence to offer discounts to negate the price hike else after the dust settles, there would be no duster to be seen

You are asking comments from Raja, If S_Class reads this, then he is surely going to [gun] the top gear people for saying this. [lol]

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

Seemed like they waited for the Quanto launch. Once they saw Quanto, they exclaimed - "Ah ours is much better handler, lets increase the price and recoup our losses on the Pulse & Fluence".
At the same time, Ford is looking at this and thinking - " Ah ours has updated technology and better looking too, lets keep the prices a level above the Duster".
And M&M has the last laugh, getting both sides of the pie with Quanto and XUV.
