If it meets the other requirements of the definition maybe it can. Most countries do not have 4x2 versions of this class of vehicles. How many Safari or Scorpio 4x4's do we have on the road? Yet people call them SUV's.

Till now I have seen two Duster on road and I didn't find it odd looking rather I can say that it's really good looking but our perceptions say go with the brand which has better A.S.S.

If it has optional seat like Ertiga then it would have attracted some more thousands of buyer.

Yes, it has. Renault started offering the optional two jump seats soon after the official launch.

I can forgive them for calling it suv. But what is this xover? I am yet to comprehend that term.
mix of sedan and suv?.. oh well I quit!

Xover is pronounced as Crossover. It is a different segment created by Tata in India but that discussion is for some other thread. We’re moving off topic.

Duster is an SUV. It has got almsot every aspect correct to be called as an SUV. I find no reason why some bash it by saying that Duster can't be called an SUV since is a two wheel drive vehicle or doesn't possess some off roading capabilities. I will say Duster is worth the price.
Is it because of an affordable price tag when compared with the rest of the SUV legends that Renault Duster can't be called an SUV ?
The response from the customers itself is enough than our words to prove that Duster SUV is a nice offering from Renault.

Just read it on other forum that a guy booked and made payment for 110Ps duster and dealer made delivery of 85ps. [lol]. After lot of fight with the dealer and Renault India. He got the delivery of 110ps and also an apology from Renault India. I jujst can't hold myself from laughing. [lol]

We must forgive the case since Renault India has addressed the issue quite well. [:)]
Renault dealership people would surely be inexperienced when it comes to handling the crowd and the people who are waiting for their Dusters to arrive(long waiting periods).
Since its the 1st time that they are experiencing such an over whelming response to a product there would surely be confusions as well as some small troubles in handling the large audience.
By the way , is there any badge in the duster to distinguish the 85PS model from the 110PS model ?

No I don't think so the best distinguishing factor is the 5 speed gear box in 85ps and 6 speed gear box in 110ps .

Yes this is the only way the guy realised that this is not the car they TDed and it is surely not 110ps car.

Buddy, I guess the duster has 98 PCD wheels which is quite uncommon if not rare,so, finding alloys for it can be quite a task. Still have a look at the below site : http://www.alloywheelsindia.com/renault/duster.htm

should'nt the VIN also specify the variant details?
Also the engine cover under the bonnet mentions the power output apart from the 6 speed gearbox.
The monopoly was the main culprit here it seems for the Goofup by the dealer who was trying to pocket the difference to an unsuspecting customer.

This was the same thing I was thinking yesterday night. Didn't that guy checked the VIN again while taking the delivery. or dealer gave him VIN for 85ps only. The question here is did he tried to open bonnet and check the engine bay [roll]. which I think so he din't.
