Buddy I understand your feeling. 1st Scratch is like 1st heartbreak but you will stop counting afterwords.
In Delhi we have seen people pulling pistol and firing for a scratch. I had this scenario at the back of my mind when I told you not to get into argument or say anything.
Happened with me, biker rear ended at traffic signal and damaged my rear bumper, light, i didn't pick up fight or argument and called police, they did rest. Fellow had to pay for damage though not complete.
Police doesn't want to register (not making negative remark) case and simply ask the fellow involved to pay up in their own language.

It hurts (scratch on brand new car) but you can't do much. Live with it and drive carefully. Maintain distance in front,at back, watch your side (left and right).

No offense to anyone but we have a saying: Sarkar and Aurat drive kar raha ho toh sab galti maaf hai. This is not offense to any particular community or gender.

@ Brandoo: I completely agree with you, it really boils when all these incidents happen.
But when a lady does it, you have to let it go.
Not at all times.
And one cannot behave rude with them.

After all life is precious than the car, Car can be repaired, but not the scars.

Drivetech4,
Never follow any car who had any kind of collision no matter small or big. This might result in rage or fight and you are never sure or mind of set of another person behind the wheel.
Accept the hard fact that, bumpers are going to get scratches. Its not about ur driving style.

DO YOU THINK ITS WORTH DYING FOR A SCRATCH ON YOUR CAR.
Never indulge with anybody. Even its someone's mistake.
Safe driving and never get into rage. Make it a [rules]
Well said brandoo.

But there is a slight difference here because drivetech is in Mumbai/Pune and you are in Delhi.

Delhi is infamous for road rage and even killings happened just out of rage. In
Mumbai situation is much better.

Drivetech, it was a mistake you followed and stopped that stupid Civic (I am seeing it in another angle)

First the accident spot is different from where you stopped that car.
Your front bumber is scratched and Civic's door part is damaged. That means she would have got enough supporters since you are away from the accident spot and any body looking at both the cars would have blamed you hit the Civic.

Sad sad incident Pravin! How did this happen? Thank god it was just a scratch which can removed easily from bumper. Dents are pretty hard on heart. IMO, you should have stopped her at the spot itself. I had one incident where this guy overtook from left and took half of my bumper away in front of policemen. I stopped my car, got down and asked the policemen to catch the car else I wouldnt budge. Finally they caught him on next turn and got the amount for bumper replacement. This guy was driving a hospital vehicle (M800) and did not bother to look what was happening behind.

This is appropriate way to resolve the issue. This is what I have followed and advised to Pravin. Doesn't matter driver is a lady or gentleman, rule of law should prevail.

Pravin, I understand your frustration. However we are helpless and cannot do much. This is also one of the main reasons, I am inclined towards small cars and that too with black bumper. Show me the car sometime.

I didn't followed her, It was the way I was supposed to go and Traffic police was aware of the situation too, so no question of blame on me, Couldn't stop at the spot as it was heavy traffic at the signal because an earlier accident at the signal, and I don't wanted others to suffer because of me. I just took the left turn and she was there next to me.
As I mentioned there was another girl on scooty who was coming from another side and she stopped next to my car and the traffic warden was yelling at her for that , and I was unable to move my car even though I was able to see that the Civic is scratching my bumper.

So the crime was joint venture of two ladies. Why I am so sad is because I was stand still and she was just scratching, even though other peoples around was yelling at her!

What I meant was the crowd do not have any common sense or patience and traffic police who vitnessed the incident was in a different location and had that Civic person shouted and cried foul, crowd (gather there in seconds)would have blamed you and all your logic and exlanation will be useless. Thats crowd behaviour.

Anyway thats over. As brandoo said just forget it.

Service Update : The car has already done 5000 + kms, As per the user manual the second service was due between 5k to 5.5 k kms. So I booked the service appointment for Yesterday . Went there ear;y in the morning 8.45 am. I have maintained good relations with Works Manager and Service Engineers, so Immediately got the attention! SE engineer came along with me for preparing the Job card, we sat in car and then he asked me for the service coupon, I gave him it along with manual.
Then the joke!
Free Service schedule as per the service coupons is as below-
  • First Service- 1000-1500 kms
  • Second service - 10000-10500 kms
  • Third Service - 20000-20500 kms
  • Fourth Service - 30000 - 30500 kms

Free Service schedule as per the Manual is as below-

  • First Service- 1000-1500 kms
  • Second service - 5000 - 5500 kms
  • Third Service - 10000-10500 kms
  • Fourth Service - 20000 - 20500 kms

Service engineer told me that, In a recent training at Tata Motors they were told that New face lifted Vista service Intervals are as mentioned on the coupon and not as per the Manual.(Though mine is not the face lifted Vista, but he said everything is same except cosmetic changes) So the second service will take place only after 10k kms.
So till 30 k Kms I don't have to worry for paid service![clap]
(New Face lifted Vista owners here please confirm)

So it was time to go back, Guys blaming TATA A*S*S make a note of this point!

SE said that since you have came all the way till here, I will take the car on the bay and will ask to do the all point check up.
I was happy to hear that! He did asked one of the guy to check the car thoroughly, including under body. Nothing was found except- Engine guard was little bent, as it was scraped during rainy days! He did make it straight.

I asked SE if Engine oil can be changed, but he said that there is no need to change it, since the engine oil change interval is 10 k kms.
But I wanted to change the engine oil and will do that soon sometime.

OT:
I did met Fogian and Deepak after the check up was done, and I moved from there. As Figoian stays near by the workshop, I called him the earlier day and we planned to meet in the morning.

We did enjoyed Poha and spicy sample!at a joint near by. Chatted for 10-15 mins. Met Figoians two year old son Tarun, he is a cute boy ![thumbsup]

If you don't mind few queries about your Vista

1] Kitna deti hai?

20-21 kmpl on highways with 4 adults, full time A/c On, 18-20 in City with AC

2] Happy with engine, ride and handling?

Absolutely!Yes,Engine 5/5 - Dont need to say much more about it- Universally accepted. Ride Quality- 4/5 ( Suspension is good- have tried on all sorts of roads), Handling 3.75- 4/5-( Little body roll, you can mange it with your driving skills if you are well conversant with roads), Braking is excellent! Had 2-3 chances to test it and it was satisfying- mine Vista has got EBD and ABS.Never felt problem with Air Conditioner, It chills within minute that too minimum air flow, Guys seating at rear sometimes ask to switch it off. ( I am quoting this honestly). But yes in the ghat section or in heavy traffic I need to the switch of the AC as I can feel the load on the engine! can sense more vibrations due to it.

3] Happy with TASS? Read my post above, and similar posts in this thread. No issues no blame!(My own experience)

4] How is the road behaviour of your vista at expressways?

Well I am a sedate driver, On expressway I maintain speed of 90- 100 kmph, but don't feel like moving with that speed- if you don't see the speedo! I already mentioned about braking. Most importantly you never feel like you are driving a Diesel car! Acceleration is also good- Turbo helps to boost it!

Cheers, yours xover
Read Answers in bold above. Hope you have got all your answers- [thumbsup]

PS: I am not trying to promote Vista- These are all my own experiences after driving 5000 + kms.
