Everything is has +Ve and -Ve . I love both engine . I wish there be engine with both capabilities of petrol and diesel
A very interesting debate, mastersquall you brought up a good point wish there could be best of both worlds packaged in to a single boat.

Till then only Ajay Devgan can enjoy the best of both worlds !
(Forgot his scissor stunt between 2 cars in a recent movie ehh ?, assume one to be petrol and the other to be diesel! )

Ohk.
I asked again, because soon after this 'unreliable' thing, diesel engines were termed "most unreliable"" and SUVs/ UVs "hopeless". Posts #94 and #95.
Anyways.
About most unreliable i don't know, but I know what S-Class meant by saying SUVs/MUVs hopeless. What he meant was the difference between how sedans and SUVs handles. This is where the UVs are really hopeless.

It was really nice posting on this thread. Sorry if someone felt offended specially codename and vipul. It was really an entertaining thread with great discussion and knowledge.
BTW i also like petrol cars like linea t jet, honda civic, accord, etc.
I think it IS a fantastic thread, but your words direct like you are leaving the thread now.

well its not that much bad as people are thinking here my point (only off-roading related and i am not taking modern petrol and diesel engine )
problem with diesel is that they are less responsive which means sometime if you pressed acceleration bit more you will end up with high torque lead to tire digging in which is not problem with petrol as they are very responsive and we have full control over them result better flexibly . But as you said diesel engine is best for water crossing . ABout diesel they are complex and expensive to repair and sometime not possible if you are in remote area where as petrol engine is easier to understand and can be fixed anywhere with little knowledge .
Right you are,the non-linear power delivery makes driving them a bit tricky too.Ask any person who is driving an Optra Magnum and he will tell you guys hos tricky a diesel engine can be,especially for a first timer.

Everything is has +Ve and -Ve . I love both engine . I wish there be engine with both capabilities of petrol and diesel
Twin-turbo petrols are the answer to this wish.

LOL !!

See Vipul what happened !! becareful [;)] with two alphabets changed entire meaning and created lot bread to eat.

I wonder why all your words are hunted like anything[:)]
Right you are,it looks like there are a lot of 'attentive' members there who can hut us down on even a single word!!

@IRON ROCK:A very interesting debate, mastersquall you brought up a good point wish there could be best of both worlds packaged in to a single boat.
I have already answered it..TWIN TURBO OR TRIPLE TURBO 'PETROLS'.

Till then only Ajay Devgan can enjoy the best of both worlds !

Riding two boats can be extremely dangerous.Just think of the funny moment if both the car drivers turn in opposite directions.:lol!:

Yeah it can be, but also interesting to see as well.

BTW petrol lovers always wish to have benefits of diesel engines in their ride, and so is the wish of diesel lovers.

Haha,I was expecting this reply only.

Haha,no doubt,it will be even more fun.[evil]

No doubt, but it will be better if we people stick to our choices, else mods will close the thread with a note "The thread has done its course".

^^Can it rev like a petrol engine?
Can it give same fun with a manual gearbox?

Answer is 'NO'.
Hence twin or triple turbo petrols are still the best.

Buddy let it be 'very' close but remember, this engine can't touch even 5500 rpm while the petrol ones can cross even 7500 rpm.Now don't tell me that it is 'very' close.

It won't be as much fun, why?Because if you redline it then???

buddy this is the triple turbo engine of BMW, it revs to 7000 rpm. thats close. and handling of a bmw, ah pure bliss plus economy of a diesel even more bliss.

Vipul buddy what are you doing dude, this is not the nature of diesel. Ok fine i agree with your point. But you have to agree that huge torque is nature of a diesel engine. We can make a diesel engine peppier using turbos, remapping, free flow exhaust, free flow intake, intercooler, etc. etc.. But it not possible to make a petrol engine to have huge low rpm torque what so ever method you apply.

I appeal to every one please don't try to prove diesel engine better in respect of petrol engine qualities. Diesel engines have their own character try to enlighten those point.

Diesel can have properties of petrol engines(upto appreciable level) but petrol engines can't have them anyhow.[;)]

Buddy do you really feel that diesel engines need to revv at high rpms, you also own a diesel vehicle didn't you feel, that what a petrol engine do at 7000 or above rpm, diesel engines can do at 4000rpm or max 4500.
Then why would someone revv diesel engine upto 5500 or above rpm when i get more power, torque along with pickup much lower than that.[;)]

I couldn't stop myself from writing this post.

What is a twin turbo or triple turbo engine? And how does it make the engine better than a single turbo engine?
Why diesel engine have low end torque while petrol engine not?
Why petrol engine rpm is higher than diesel ones?
How is a petrol engine turbocharged?
Why petrol engine rev higher, still have less torque?
Do we know answer to these questions, or have any idea about them?
If not, then we should think before making serious technical comments on an engine's performance.

I do not understand how to convince people who are still living with petrols, world has moved already towards diesel and it is clearly a diesel era now.

Diesels are on the upper hand and all the sales figures show this across the world and it is the time for new age diesels which are par from petrols with highest performance !!

Life means not only spead, power and fun to overtake and fun to drive
Life means to save and survive and it is with diesels today whether any body or not

My ford Falcon Xt mark II is NA 4 Litre with over 180 Killowatts on rear wheels

it revs upto 7500 NA (naturally aspirated) no induction or mod at all.

My nissan skyline R33 GTST is a single turbo it revs upto 8500 RPM with 14psi boost . I don't need to change many gears , IF I redline 1st two gears I am doing 140kmph , I don't have to worry about 3rd, 4th and 5th.

coming to bikes , Hayabusa in petrol and turbo charged revs around 14000RPM .

Low END TORQUE ! :p now tell me how much is that on your vehicles before I reveal mine [:D]
