Thanks for clarifying my doubts, i read the quotation again Highline comes in both 1.2 and 1.6 engine options.

Did you opted for extended warranty and AMC?
Not yet opted but for sure I will opt for Extened warranty. Thats very important.
I will let go AMC as its not worth IMO.

Nopes i am happy with current stock music system though would love to have integrated music system with inbuilt GPS navigation system [evil]

Essential kit is optional, you will get silence, upper and lower body coating, seat cover/Music system, mud flap, mats, rear parcel tray, sun control film. Good offer but i didn't opted for it though i ended purchasing everything from them except sun control film [lol]
For Highline they told me that they would be giving me seat covers and fims for 17 k . I didnt even went after to try and ask which seat covers

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Thx for the clarification, ToughGuy!

When i got my polo, they didnt have any such packages.
Looks like a new marketing ploy by VW!
You are welcome vamsuduk, they are trying new things and keep changing their options based on the customer requirements playing very intelligently in India and learning fast.

I opted for extended warranty, AMC is not available in Diesel as of now.

Got seat cover from VW dealer in 7-7.K and they quoted 1.7K for Lumar sun control basic film with 25% heat rejection.

You can easily get the above desired for 20 k

I have a very trusty source from which I got this info that Witson uses state of the art technology and high quality for all its product. Best selling in US and UK.
At the end all gadgets we use are outsourced/manufactured from China all depends upon the quality.
Dont think I am recommending witson. At the end without warranty its a gamble [frustration]
do u see track names on your stock ice

@Toughguy : if u eva plan to visit China .. do tell me :stupid:

Fourth alphabet is 'F'. Which month does that indicate?
[frustration] Yours is June 2011, older than mine.
Why didnt you check this at the time of delivery.
Also look at the 10th alphabet that should be 'B'
Only for Petrol polos
A- 2010
B-2011
C-2012

Volkswagen VIN decoder

VW VIN:

17 characters (beginning with WVW...)

How to crack VIN:

4th character represents the MONTH of manufacturing
10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacturing

For Example:

If your 4th VIN character is A, then it represents the Month - Jan
If your 10th VIN character is C, then it represents the Year - 2012

Month Characters:

A - JAN
B - FEB
C - MAR
D - APR
E - MAY
F - JUN
G - JUL
H - AUG
J - SEP
K - OCT
L - NOV
M - DEC

Year Characters:

A - 2010
B - 2011
C - 2012
D - 2013
E - 2014
F - 2015
G - 2016
H - 2017
J - 2018
K - 2019

Ohh crap. I didn't know about reading VIN, when I bought it. I shall call the dealer and give him some piece of mind soon. I cant do much about it now.

yes the 10th one is B, indicating 2011.

Talk to them and ask for explanation about the manufacturing date, also you can lodge your protest on VW India FB page they are very prompt in responding and solving customer related issues.

In future remember to check VIN (Vehicle Identification number) of car before the purchase, every car has VIN ask from dealer about the same or search TAI you will find all the relevant data.

Find below the link of a very useful thread on VIN for all TAI members and readers:

Thanks for the info. I was aware that one could identify manufacturing date from VIN no. but never really checked properly as I didn't expect VW to furnish a June manufactured model for a car booked in November. Thoroughly my mistake.

Will keep in mind next time, and I am sure gonna bring it up up either through FB or directly to dealership.

17 k for a single vw alloy, i guess you should go aftermarket you would probably get a set of 4 for less than 15k

Ask for the form 22 and if you ask me you can do very less about it now.
I know the explaination they will give which is that company has stopped the Highline 1.2 production post July.
When I asked my month of manufacture they told me nov or dec. I asked the 4th alphabet he said 'G' I told him its July. He said sorry for mistake its July you are rite, so first they try to goof the customers and if they know the VIN decoding thing they start narrating the prod issues

Thanks for the information poloman.anyways,That's way too overpriced. But my dealer said he can swap me the highline alloys all 4 for 30k. What's your thought on that? And if I do put the aftermarket alloys, won't they void the warranty?

Do check whether he is providing genuine vw alloys. Also then you would need to change the tyre profile to 185/60/R15
I have heard VW ppl saying that tyre upgrading can void the warranty but if they are providing in highline then they have no reason not to allow trendline/comfortline owners to upgrade.
If they say that aftermarket alloys would void and buying from them is safe then its completely crap.
I would suggest you to to go for hijoin alloys 15 inch with bridgestone 195/60/R15 otherwise you have to get those noisy accelere as the above size is not available in bridgestone and michellin

I inquired about the Highline alloys at the time of booking, they told me that they don't come in accessories.

You are getting a good deal, for outside alloy please contact your nearest VW dealer or VW customer care for void warranty details. I think outside alloy and tyre size up-gradation will surely void car's warranty also you can face insurance claim issues in case of major accident as mods are not allowed as per the insurance clauses, correct me if i am wrong.
