Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Great going toughguy...15+K bill is little too steep. What all they did other than the service for this bill ?
Thanks, great too see you after such a long time.

Service is regular one as per recommendations, anti glare treatment is the only extra thing.

Polo updates

Explorer-1 crossed 57000KM in 2years and 2months with no major trip in last few months :(

Last week co-passenger side door refused to close due to some issues with plastic clip inside door. Somehow took it to service center and got it repaired, they reasoned tampering with locks.

Co-passenger side mirror cap damaged, service center quoted 500 for it, but same is out of stock as of now.

Yokohama A drive is doing well and have 15-20K KM's of life more, except few niggles ownership experience is fantastic till now.

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Last week while returning home Explorer-1 started making noise with mild floor vibration during braking, sent the car to service center next day.

Front disk brakes were culprit and was replaced first time since purchase, total bill amount was 8500 (approx)

Got left side mirror cap replaced too, paid around 400 or 500 for same. Stock cap is black and require paint job.

Will send Explorer-1 to body shop next month for front bumper paint work to get rid of scratches and inter-cooler replacement which already is due from some time.

Yesterday got a call from VW Delhi west for free movie screening in PVR Naraina, received four tickets at venue and enjoyed the show with other VW owners. Its a nice gesture from dealership :)

Also got free washing coupon.

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Why didn't you consider repairing the discs ? Take a look at my santro's disc.

Took the car to sc to replace the pads since it made screeching noise everytime i applied brakes.

Sc told me to replace the disc or else pads won't last that long. Took the car back after paying 100 rs as labor.

Went to local car market and they cut the outer surface with a machine, paid 400 for 2 discs and i haven't faced any problem after 40000kms.

Sc advised to replace the disx at 60k, now car is at 105000. And told me 4k for cost of two discs.

I don't have any idea about this, but considering my frequent long drives i don't want to take any chances.

My car was not making normal screeching noise it was somewhat different like driving car without rubber tyres (like only on metal rim), i first thought car was punctured but found it fine, they handed over old brakes to me which was in very bad shape.

Where in Delhi you got it done? My car's discs are also in same condition and need a change. So, I will get the skimming done rather than spending money on new discs.

What were the charges ?

See all the companies are interested to replace the parts as soon as possible. "Saar this is not working properly, will give you problems in the future"

If there is huge costs involved i first take the car to a local mechanic and ask for advice then ask the sc for the cost for comparison.

Anyways, it's good that you didn't want to take chances and for your own piece of mind.

Sc have all the machines available for repair or they can get it repaired but they only replace.

I got it done from model town -1 market near kingsway camp. I think i paid 400 rupees which is very costly just because it's a car part. We have the same machine for different thing but it does the same job. Obviously we don't know how to skim the discs so had to pay whatever they charge.

POLO updates

Got the inter cooler and suspension strut mount replaced paid bill amount Rs.6034. Initially applied for inter cooler replacement under insurance through TATA AIG but surveyor informed me about the repairable minor damage so went ahead with inter cooler repair work from my own pocket to save NCB.

Polo updates

Three days back while returning to office Explorer-1 started making strange noises at 2K rpm, after driving for a while I noticed noise like "shhhhhhhhhh" coming from engine bay as soon as turbo kicks in, this noise remains for few seconds on each attempt.

Next day I sent my car to VW Delhi-West Naraina workshop for repair work, on inspection my SA found small hole developed in turbo connecting hose due to which this problem arises.

According to SA this is a rare thing to happen to their vehicle, luckily part was available and car was repaired on very same day.

I am not happy at all with this incident since it raises serious questions on reliability of the vehicle in tough conditions in which I usually put Explorer-1 on my road trips.

Got the complimentary interior cleaning coupon from service center during my last visit to them.

Total bill paid was RS.6404/- this time.

Having such issues on a car that has run only these many kms seriously raises reliability issues on VW cars [specially in Indian road conditions].

Polo road trip update

Just returned from 634KM Delhi-Fatehpur Sikri-Delhi road trip, covered Fatehpur Sikri Palace this time. Took Yamuna expressway, was driving first time on the Yamuna Express beyond F-1 track (Jaypee Sports City). Nice and fast drive, as usual car performed very well and returned good fuel average this time.

Some pics from this road trip:

Fourth service update

Got the fourth service done of Explorer-1, total bill amount was 22092/-
Normal service with bare minimum recommended work has been done by VW Delhi-West (Moti Nagar). Lower arm of suspension replaced and coolant flushed and refilled in this service.

Odo meter today crossed 60000KM mark today, fuel efficiency seems increased a bit since turbo hose replacement.

Upcoming replacement in next six months are battery, clutch plate and condenser work.

Polo road trip updates

Last weekend did 751KM/5days Delhi-Shimla-Kasauli-Delhi road trip in my Explorer-1, my In-law's were quite keen to visit this busy hill station that too on such a long weekend. As expected, even after a early start on 15th August we witnessed very heavy traffic en-route and managed to reach Shimla only after 13 hours of long and tiring drive, to add more havoc to day it was raining heavily in Shimla. Since parking's near lift was full, able to park Explorer-1 in Bemloe HPPWD parking that too at cost of 250 bucks per night, we booked rooms in Grand hotel which don't have parking. As usual Kasauli was calm and composed with few tourists on weekdays.

Pics to follow:
