Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Good to see some fresh updates in this thread, ToughGuy. Quite a coincidence that our friend, Bunny, was in the same place, at the same time that too with a Polo.

Polo road trip update

Just returned from 709 KM Delhi - Haridwar - Surkanda Devi Temple - Delhi road trip, covered Surkanda devi temple, Dhanaulti Eco Park, Mussoorie, Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi & Chandi Devi temple this time. Took Delhi - Meerut - Muzaffarnagar - Roorkee - Haridwar - Dehradun - Mussoorie - Dhanaulti - Surkanda Devi temple route.

Road between Muzaffarnagar to Roorkee was under construction and have numerous diversions, we started early evening of 11th Sep'14 and returned on night of 13th Sep'14, due to numerous unmarked diversions and potholes filled road it was painful to drive on this Muzzafarnagar-Roorkee stretch. On return journey we drove in broad daylight with ease on this section.

As usual Explorer-1 performed quite well on this yet another road trip and Polo returned good fuel average like it did always with smile.

Some pics from this road trip:

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Polo road trip update

On 7th Oct'14 evening returned from 1497 Kms, 6 days, Delhi - Khajjiar - Chamba - Dharamshala - Palampur - Delhi road trip, covered Dainkund peak, Khajjiar, Chamba, Laxmi Narayan temple, Chamera lake, HPCA cricket stadium, Dalai Lama temple, Bhagsunath temple, water fall, Chamunda devi temple, Norbulingka institute, Aganzar maharaj temple, Baijnath temple, Bir landing site, Bir monestary, Kangra fort, Ananpur Sahib gurudwara.

Left Delhi on early morning of 2nd Oct'14 and route taken was Delhi-Ambala-Jalandhar-Ludhiana-Pathankot-Banikhet-Dalhousie-Khajjiar-Banikhet-Chamba-Chamera lake-Banikhet-Tunnuhatti-Lahru-Sihunta-Shahpur-Dharamshala-Mcleodganj-Norbulingka institute-Chamunda devi-Palampur-Baijnath temple-Bir-Palampur-Kangra fort-Amb-Una-Anandpur Sahib-Ambala-Delhi

Route from Delhi to Pathankot was in good shape with few diversions, Pathankot to Dalhousie was in good condition, Dalhousie to Khajjiar was narrow and rough, Banikhet to Chamba was like express highway :P, from Banikhet upto Tunnuhatti was very wide and fast, between Tunnuhatti to Lahru road was narrow but with less valley stretches, between Lahru to Shahpur via Sihunta most of the road were washed away, patches of stone filled boulder stretch is regular. JCB was cleaning the landslides happened in last monsoon, road was dangerously narrow at few places though last 15 km stretch upto Shahpur was fantastic. Road construction is on the way hope road condition improves in future. Road from Shahpur to Dharamshala was fantastic, to avoid traffic I took turn before Gaggal to cover the last 15KM, road was little narrow but manageable. Road from Dharamshala-Chamunda devi temple-Palampur was in fantastic condition, from Palampur to Bir was again excellent, from Palampur to Kangra was good with few town passings, from Kangra fort-Amb-Una-Ananpur Sahib-Ambala was like dream one of the best route to drive.

Explorer-1 performed quite well on this road trip, had one puncture near Kalatop, Khajjiar.

Thanks 350Z for giving TAI stickers on time , some pics from this road trip:

It was a pleasure meeting you. I'm glad Explorer-1 is steadily exploring new places. Now I know who to ask for updated road conditions next time I head for a trip.

Polo update

Last week visited 3M car care A-20, Kailash Colony, New Delhi, for much deserve interior and exterior cleaning of Explorer-1. I opted for germi clean treatment, foam wash and wax paid Rs. 3685 in total. After 4 hours of cleaning work on Explorer-1 it looked like just new, work was carried out till perfection. They are located in posh locality of Delhi and have all types of luxury cars parked in here for cleaning work. Front staff was little rude and unfriendly to me, might be due to size of my car [;)] but still I will visit this centre again due to superb quality of work.

Check here for wonderful review of 3M car care by @350Z

Great buddy, hope you enjoyed your vacations.

We also planned the same trip during the same period, but was forced to cancel it due to official urgency.

Anyway your details really help us in planning this trip next time.

Yet to do the past maths, but upcoming expenses in next 3 months are following:

1) 5th Service: 15-20K
2) Brake pads: 1-2K
3) Battery: 4-5K
4) Clutch plate: 15K

You will surprise to hear that my next plan cars are also Germans, Vento diesel automatic then may be Mercedes A class if manage to save enough money. I am expecting 2.5-3.5L in next 1-2 years and some loyalty exchange bonus from VW.

Yes the car is little costly to maintain but I love to drive this car.
