Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)
@GM88: Below are procedures i just found from the internet. As i said earlier i am not sure if VW will do this or even approve of it.I am just hoping there is someway to save my vehicle from the damage.
Spacers under the coil spring or longer coil springs
The spacer is a rubber pad about an inch thick which sits under the coil springs. One way to increase the ground clearance of your car is to use spacers under the coil spring. This will affect the overall handling and driving as the angle of the lower arms and links will change, and ride will become stiffer. The price of these spacers will vary from car to car but these aren’t very expensive.
Bigger tyres
The easiest way to get better ground clearance is to get a bigger set of tyres.
Re-cambering the springs
Re-cambering is essentially bending the leaf spring to a more acute angle to raise the ground clearance.
Adding extra leaf in leaf spring blade
This again is a way to improve the ground clearance of your car
Spring over axle setup
This is a major modification to increase ground clearance. Here the leaf-spring pack, instead of sitting under the axle, is modified to be placed over the axle, increasing ground clearance by quite a bit. But this modification puts pressure on the steering components and drive shafts.
ToughGuy your Polo is looking absolutely spotless after the cleaning. Both inside and outside. Nice job. I see even you have the same carpet floor mats as i do. Mine are getting horribly dirty by every passing day.
How do you manage to keep them so clean? how frequent do you get it washed?
Hey Sarith J . Well even i have a Polo Tdi April 2012 make. I have scrapped the under-belly of my Polo just twice or thrice that to on a single trip of around 1600kms with 5 on board and with loaded with luggage and that too scrapped because i was driving literally on the most horrid roads with no tar on them. Got the under-belly inspected after coming back home and fortunately no damages had happened. Plus i am a little fortunate that i drive in Chandigarh as we don't have any speed-brakers or uneven potholes in the city roads.
But since you suggested that there are procedures to increase the ground clearance, can you please throw some light on that as i am completely unaware of it.
