Welcome Recluse
My dealer has given me Funny reasoning for the poor design of ETIOS. A dealer comes in touch with all the customers but he will never share any bad experiences of any customer with other customer as it will hamper his sale.
Dealers words are like - they will not remove the pain but will give you power to face the pain.
AAL IZZ WELL.
+1 on that.
When I took a TD of Etios for the first time, I asked the dealer specifically about the high NVH levels (like a diesel vehicle). Told him straight that it's due to poor insulation that the noise seeps into the cabin.
He responded saying that Toyota had done it intentionally to give it a "sporty" feel
. Chucked that dealer and bought from another one who knew a little more than this (not that it made a difference, since it was the same product).
But atleast what my dealer promised seems to have come true. He was begging me to complete the run-in period (1k - 2k kms) and get back to him if I still have the NVH issues.
To reduce NVH, you can try a few things.
1. A rubberized underbody coating from 3M which helps in sound reduction.
2. Good quality, noise absorbing floor mats.
I won't say that it's a perfect product (in fact, no car is one). But among the options in that segment this seems to be the best bet. Manza is a sofa-on-wheels, but grossly underpowered petrol engine (plus the ASS - about which I've heard all the famous stories). Dzire is a no-no when it comes to the rear legroom.
