Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

Got a SMS message today up to 1 Lack discount on Scorpio current models with immediate delivery from Silver Jubilee Motors Pune Saying. I think until they clear the old stock they won’t release the new model, previously they were planning to launch it in August on Ganapati Festival but now pushed to October.

Yes they would want to clear out as much of the old stock and so we could see many such discounts as well as offers from mahindra before launching the new version.

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

For the amount of time taken to launch a facelift[frustration], had it been Hyundai they would have launched a new car itself.
Thats where Indian car making plants are lagging behind. Till y'day Tata Motors too was the same. Taking their own sweet time to design and launch a new model. But atleast now TaMo has invested and taken all its manufacturing plants in India at par with the global giants. They say they will launch 2 new products every year which will be completely different looking from their earlier cars.

Mmmm...lets wait and watch.

May be its like Amir khan - one movie in 2-3 years, & Akshay Kumar - 2-3 movies in a year. But sadly, in Bollywood, Akshay's 2-3movies/year can't make total revenue as Amir's one movie in 2-3 years, while in Indian Auto Industry (compared to German / Japanese) it is not so. I hope one day it will be so.

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

Launch time around october means that its going to clash with the launch of upgraded safari storme, with advanced mechanics and interiors and is scheduled to be launched before the festive season for sure. Scorpio won the bout against safari dicor (barring the ride quality, it was a better product overall ) while storme equalled it later on ( with a class leading ride, interior upgrades and an advanced chassis and durability ). As of now its a tie. Are we gearing up for the penultimate round soon? L[;)]

After looking at the aggressive action of Tata Motors, and the kind of big leap with interiors, safety, ride and handling, and the electronic gadgets interior especially that Harman audio -> upgraded Safari Storme is going to beat Scorpio hands down. Its my personal opinion based on the facts said above till now.

i feel products from Tata are going to improve with every launch.

They definitely are improving. Storme is definitely miles ahead of whatever they had been selling so far. And looking at the quality of HARMAN system in ZEST which is likely to be featured in storme soon , im sure its going to add feathers to an already successful product. This scorpio facelift is only meant to keep the interest level alive in the product before they come up with an all new scorpio based on an entirely different platform by late 2015 or 2016 which can bring mahindra back in the game.

OT [evil]
Please do discuss about the Harmon thingie of Storme in the right thread, if at all such a thing exists. BTW, what audio system does the current Storme come with ? If there is any, do please answer it in the Storme thread.
upgraded Safari Storme is going to beat Scorpio hands down.

I thought you were talking about " Tata Scorpio". It's always nice to use :offtopic: when appropriate.

You might want to have a look at some facts as well.

My take "on" the topic,
  • The interior/Dash looks fresh and up-market, not very 'simple' as in the current avatar which I like.
  • The extensive testing with and without fully loaded = some major mechanical changes as well.
  • Hence expect a much better ride & handling combo with a better with an improved suspension set-up.
  • A more refined M-Hawk with loads of features thrown in.
  • I am OK with less gizmos but want a super reliable vehicle right from the word go, for which I am sure Mahindra must have done their homework enough.

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

July Market Share as follows,

Maruti 46.21% Hyundai 15.01% Honda 8.05% Mahindra 7.54% Toyota 6.11% Tata 4.7%

Tata was in number 3, and later number 4 in earlier days. Now moved after Toyota.
Anyway good indications from Tata with new product line ups.

No offence but sales figure really do not tell you about the superiority of a product. Problem with TAMO is that their reputation precedes them and people are wary of investing a million bucks. On papers and road, current avatar of storme is definitely miles ahead of current scorpio. Can check with any forum and auto journal. A facelift can definitely alter the situation as scorpio is backed by a very helpful ASS. And were you talking about mahindra's "extensive testing" ON BUYERS like in the case of xuv?[:)]

We have had some detailed discussions on the “ consistent” supremacy in sales figures = better overall product in another thread, hence wouldn’t add any more here.[:)]
One is a 2009 facelift and the other a 2012/13 launch, hence your thought. I have driven Storme enough myself and I do agree that it does have a better feel inside with better quality plastic used. The ride is marginally better than “my” Scorpio in the current state. Had it been launched in 2009, I would have considered a Storme though. No offence.

BTW, I hate two things in my car,
  • Inefficient /unprofessional A.S.S or Manufacturer experience
  • Consistent rattling even minor ones.

P.S: No more OT from side [:)]

There are indeed few persisting problems plaguing our indian manufacturers i.e losing out on the first-come advantage. I understand the teething issue but what is the point of that extensive road test by their so called experts. Storme was supposed to be launched with a name MERLIN in 2008 and it got delayed by good four years. While scorpio was always riddled with a boat-like ride ever since its conception and they are fiddling with the suspension now after almost a decade. No more OT from my side either.[:)]

The current generation Scorpio M-Hawks rides much better than the earlier ones, still lots of room to improve though. The Indian counterparts seem to have woken up off late for better, long way to go though. The one who remains reluctant to learn from their own mistakes will perish eventually.

Going by the way Mahindra & Mahindra has evolved as a car manufacturer post XUV launch, I seriously see the new Scorpio stirring up the Indian Automotive scene positively once again. I am optimistic that whatever flaws the current version has, are being addressed by M&M, especially after having learned a lesson or two from XUV 5OO.

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

As its offically "W105 will launch in October Month" by M&M.

Same heat was there for auto enthusiast before launching W201 (XUV500). But before launch W201 was revealed undisguised.
Mahindra-W201-undisguised.jpg

Same with Quanto.

But till now no clear pics of W105 its nearly two months away for launch. Production must be started in assembly line at Nashik.

Pics of final production model Ciaz are leaked on web. But no clear pics from W105. M&M are too strict with their test vehicles.

Hoping to have undisguised pics of W105 before launch.
