Re: Maruti 800 Replacement To Be Known as ‘Alto 800’ (Pics Pg.9)

I am really unable to guage that with whom this will compete with Nano, Eon, Alto K10[confused]
They are surely going to kill the older version Alto and this one will fall between Nano and Eon in terms of pricing, Suzuki is also said to be working on 800cc diesel engine which will be launched at a later date.

Visran,

To be frank about this 800cc diesel engine thing will be on the news desk for some time. First they need to develop a diesel engine for their Swift,Ritz,Dzire from Maruti power train which is the need of the hour. But again I doubt though they do this, it may end up like TATA TDI or CR4 engines. All TATA cars which are successful in the market today like Vista, Manza are equipped with Fiat engines !!

According to the sources they will be heading Cheverolet route, they will take the existing Mutijet engine and will reduce one cylinder along with displacement but as you told it should still take 2-3 year's to hit the market

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

It seems like the put it together using parts from the A-star and alto.

Finally here to challenge the Hyundai EON.

Welcome back to the 800 name.

New Maruti Alto 800 to hit the Indian Roads soon!!

Maruti’s all-new Alto 800 is now inching closer to launch.

The new Alto 800 will be based on the existing Alto platform and will be powered by the same 796cc three-cylinder motor (F8D) from the Alto, which has been modified to meet the latest emission norms. The new Alto 800 will slot in below the Alto, is expected to have all-new interiors, and will be a tad more spacious than before. The design is rather basic, with the nose getting high-mounted headlights, a slim, slot-like grille and a huge secondary air-inlet opening above and below the bumper. Maruti has provided a wider, U-shaped rear-windscreen for better visibility, and there is a wide tailgate for better accessibility to the cargo bay.

The new 800 is likely to share a lot of running gear with the current car. It will also have a basic but cost-effective MacPherson strut setup in front and a coil spring torsion beam axle at the rear. Expect better interior packaging to liberate a few vital centimetres. Crash protection should be better than the old car too, thanks to the Alto’s more up-to-date chassis.

Maruti is targeting a sub-Rs 2 lakh price for the new Maruti 800 to distance it from the Alto by at least Rs 40,000 and put it smack into Nano territory.

@Raja
Exactly Figos front facia !
@Gurrala- since its going to be a maruti make it would surely succeed. Indians trust maruti brand and believe that what ever spend on buying a maruti car is worth it. So success is assured . I say this because still in this 2012 where there are many modern cars in all segments still the humble maruti 800 sells around 1200 nos according to sales figures[:)]

I was the shear follower of Maruti since its birth in 1983 I hope, which was driven always based on its A.S.S., but it really sucks these days and it is not going to do those wonders o f the olden days !! being a owner of Ritz diesel !! it really pathetic service these days
