I am all set to book the Grand i10 CRDi Sportz as it is giving me everything that I require in my new car but, it may sound weird that the only thing stopping me from booking this car is the missing display of fuel average in the MID.

I really need help from the people here. What will be the benefits if I get a car which shows the fuel average against the car which does not shows the fuel average?

From my experience, the MID fuel efficiency is only indicative number and not very accurate. For my car, if I use tank full method, consistently the mileage is around 17 while MID is around 18. If you are convinced about the car, this should be one of the least important factors you should consider. Good luck !

Thanks a lot for the explanation and I agree with you that this feature should be the least important while buying a new car but till now I was thinking that without this feature I might not get accurate reading of the fuel consumption but thanks again to clear this up.
Anyways, I will go get a TD for the Grand i10 CRDi again tomorrow and finalize the deal within this week.

Good to know. I was also very particular about Bluetooth option in the car & was really upset about my current car, Ertiga not having this feature. I searched for multiple options & even opened a thread requesting users to suggest options "Bluetooth Options For Ertiga & Other Cars"). I even bought a Bluetooth headset, Sony MW600 which had a options to connect via AUX port. After usage only I realized it didn't have voice cancellation feature and hence callers were hearing their voice echoing from speaker.

In the end there was a very simple solution available - an aux cable which can connect your phone and ICE. Voice cancellation seems be working well on my Samsung S3 (unlike Bluetooth setup).

With respect to your deterrent, you may not have a technical solution. However this forum and auto enthusiasts in general seems to agree that tankful to tankful method is widely the most accurate method for mileage calculations. Another variant of same method is using fuel warning light which also is accurate. May be in advanced & expensive cars MID could be accurate - but by and large there seems to around 5% error with electronic gauges.
