Re: 2014 Honda Jazz Spotted in India

It would be interesting to see the February Sales figures of Honda. And also this month's figure in early April, because normally cars are dispatched to the dealers before launch which was the case with New City & Mobilio. So I expect waiting for the pre launch dispatches will give us clear ideas regarding launch date of the Jazz.
Also, Honda exports cars in very low numbers compared to domestic market. So seeing these many cars in plant makes me think that majority of these units could be for Indian version.

Update from Honda Cars India (Greater Noida)

Friends,

I visited the HCI at Greater Noida today and spoke to the C.R Officials there and at present there is no clear cut info given on the upcoming Jazz. The tentative period of launch is still "June or July-2015". The parent company has not issued any formal communication to the Indian division about the details of the upcoming Jazz so far and neither the sales team at H.C.I has info on the same.

The team of H.C.I is also gathering info from the various automotive websites. We all can wait for Honda to spill the beans from their end on the India Specific Jazz model's launch. At present the info present on the web and with HCI is only of the export version of Jazz. The HCI officials have however assured that prior to launch, the media shall be informed and the details shall be published accordingly.

Oh Man. This is something I hoped should not be the outcome of your visit. But to be frank, I was expecting the nothing better. Looks like at least some of us here waiting for the Jazz will move on and go for some other available options. With No clear cut info and with even June / July not a certainty how much sense does it make waiting for this car? I dont really have an answer.

Especially considering the fact that Honda has an installed capacity of 20k cars per month and are already making around 18k cars (including export) per month, how soon will they be able to squeeze in Jazz?? Is that the REAL reason why they are not launching Jazz??

Akash. Really thankful for the info. With your permission, I am sharing the information with other forums also. Hope you dont mind.

Certainly you may share but do mention our TAI name buddy. On the whole, I feel with other brands being certain of their own launches in this segment it would rather be good to evaluate them and let time unfold the Jazz Mystery.

New Honda Jazz India launch delayed

Honda has delayed the launch of the new Jazz in our market. The Japanese carmaker had earlier confirmed the launch of the new Jazz this month; however, our source tells us that it will only go on sale around June.

Honda has cited some production issues as the main reason for the delay. There has also been a delay in manufacturing certain variants of its key models like the City and Amaze. The City currently demands a waiting period of 2-4 months for some variants. On the other hand, Honda's popular compact sedan, the Amaze, has a waiting period of 2-5 months for select variants.

Honda faces a peculiar issue.

Honda stops dispatches after cars damaged at Greater Noida factory.Honda is facing a peculiar situation: almost half the vehicles manufactured at its Greater Noida factory last month have been damaged by paint fumes from an adjoining plant, forcing the company to halt dispatches to dealers and leaving a huge pile-up of inventory at its stockyard.
The vehicles affected are the Mobilio multi-passenger vehicle, the Brio hatchback and CR-V sports utility vehicle, made at the Honda plant in Greater Noida in UP.
A significant quantity of paint fumes emerging from the adjoining industrial site impacted thousands of Honda vehicles parked in an open
stockyard.Mobilio vehicles, which accounted for a majority of the cars parked in the yard, were the worst affected by the fumes.

Strictly :offtopic:

I dont understand something here. So if Noida makes Mobilio + Brio + CRV (sells less than 3k per month) and if Tapukara makes Amaze + City (sells around 15k per month) and also the exported Jazz, there is something missing. If I understand correctly, both plants has a capacity of 10k cars per month. Correct? So is Noida also making some Amazes? It is not making any City for sure. If Jazz is to made, it should be from Tapukara (as it shares a lot of parts with City). But where is the space or capacity to make the Jazz?? Any clue???

I'll tell you, paint fumes are not the only deterrent since the location that houses the plant in greater Noida, doesn't have any bigger facility around. Reason for vehicle damage to a great extent would be the on-going construction and renovation at the plant as I have seen some days back. Even the parking area of manufactured cars is occupied by construction material to a great extent.

Honda carefully keeps the new manufactured cars as I have observed, the exposure to any sort of chemicals or fumes is never too extensive. Honda's plants is spread in acres of land and one of the biggest one out there.

The problem originated when an under-construction factory adjacent to Honda Cars India was being painted.

According to sources, a significant quantity of paint fumes emerging from the adjoining industrial site impacted thousands of Honda vehicles parked in an open stockyard. The upcoming factory is a supplier of components to large Korean electronics manufacturers. The paint fumes caused spots to be formed on the cars, especially over the chrome and plastic parts and the roof top.

Aakash, could you give us more information on this Korean electronics giant sharing the adjoining space?

Ya, actually two things are there, as I have seen, Honda's own plant as well is under renovation since past few months and plant they are referring to I know even that is also under-going renovation. Sadly, with no fault of Honda and that of the buyers undue delay has happened. See, as we believe Honda on this issue, it could be possible that some damage to vehicle has happened inside their plant as well. Anyways, the prospective buyers are caught in a fix.[frustration]

Honda Cars India gears up to introduce the new Jazz

Honda Cars India has turned its attention towards pre-launch activities for the Jazz ahead of its anticipated touch down in June-July 2015. The company had originally planned to put the car on the market in the first quarter of this calender year.

Production constraints from the City and Amaze variants persisting, the Jazz launch had to been pushed to mid-2015. Honda’s global hatchback is based on the new City’s platform, and will be equipped with the 1.5-liter diesel engine and the 1.2-liter petrol engine. To keep prices competitive, Honda will heavily localize the model, whose production has already begun exclusively for South African exports in Tapukara, Rajasthan since January.
Even though the previous Jazz was one of the best selling hatchbacks in the world, its high asking price and lack of a diesel option resulted in its discontinuation in India in early 2013. Since then, the premium hatchback segment has grown, fueled by the rising sales figures of the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai i20.

Re: 2014 Honda Jazz Spotted in India

Good to be back after nearly a month. With May nearing I am expecting Honda to start the media drives of Jazz sometime in May. They are very keen on this car and will be the volume driven car in their lineup. It has all the ingredients to be the Segment Best, so lets wait for a little bit now then. I am expecting more reports on the Jazz in coming weeks.
