hello Santacaluz
The brio underneath doesn't come with an anti-rust undercoating and to that matter no car comes with that, except some expensive sports cars.
If we want we can get it done at around 4000Rs from dealer itself during service.
Indeed the dealer asked me during the first service and I dropped the idea for time being since I had some other unrelated expenses.
Anyway one of my colleague pointed out, his wagon-R is almost 9 years old without any under-coating and still no signs of corrosion for his car ..... so most of the modern car remains protected for few years and is not something to worry immediately
But over-body coating (teflon) is useful if you happen to park your car outside, specially under SUN. I wonder how you got it for 1600, the dealer was quoting 4000 (though i didnot get it done till now)
My apologies John. Got the teflon coating done for 2,200/-.

During my 1st service, the dealer asked me if i wished to get an anti-rust done. He quoted 4k for the same (+ taxes). I immediately called my vendor who told me it could be done for 2400/-.

Not that I wish to get the anti-rust coating done so soon. I guess it can wait.

Tho I'd suggest you get the teflon coat done. Protects the car from the heat as well as minor scratches. Get a parallel quote from a trusted vendor if you want.

I have seen in some cars, immobilizer (red light) keeps blinking even once you close the door .... but in my Brio its not .... something there ???
Good point John,

Even my old Zen has a blinking LED in it that blinks 24x7 apart from when it is in use. Have noticed the same in my friends Ritz.

Although BRIO is equipped with an immobilizer for sure, I guess there is no blinking LED in it.

Thanks Dude,
And welcome to TAI.

Firstly my Brio just came back from the first service, which of course was free, so wont be able to comment on the service cost just yet & also most of the Brios in our forum are very new as well.

However, generally speaking, as a thumb rule Honda ASS is generally cheaper than Hyundai. Honda cars are generally niggle free and you wont end up spending much on sorting out small issues every now and then.
You can verify this by doing some google, reading on forums and talking to Hyundai & Honda owners.

Lastly the glass hatch looks fragile, but its not. It gives a style quotient to the car and is 100% covered in warranty. Its made out of toughened glass and gives very nice rear visibility as well.

A Small Mod Job : Arm Rests.

So I added an Arm Rest to my Brio yesterday.
Cost 1k .
I think it was totally worth it, makes me feel like I am seating on a sofa while driving. What do you folks say??
Let the Pics do the talking now...

Is that an OEM accessories? It looks fantastic and 1K for that sounds very reasonable.

Sudeep,
Does it foul when you are changing gears? It looks quite classy
Thanks Jazzy, & nah, not at all its actually very comfy. You don't have to lift your arms at all. Your arm stays on the arm rest all the time (which slides in and out as per your arm-gear stalk comfort distance) and then your wrists and fingers do all the work.

Also, I showed this to my friend today who drives an SX4 and he is behind my life already to take him to the same installer after work !!

Dear sudeep. Let me Congratulate you for getting Brio even if it is little too late. sorry for that.

Its a nice car with number of cool accessories.

I liked the hand rest near the driver seat. But won't it make any problem while operating the hand brakes?

And try to get a Illuminated scuf plate for the beauty
I already got one for my city from ebay. yet to install it.

Thanks Buddy,

I gave a thought to the hand brake usage before installing, and I realized that we generally don't use handbrake while driving (Unless its a steep slope). I use it mostly when my car is parked, and I need to get down.
The arm rest folds up 90degrees so its not an issue. Also, I can release the handbrake even without pulling the arm rest up, the comfort factor however is big..[:D]

And by scuff plate, I guess you mean step garnish, which I have but not the illuminated ones. Honda quoted me 7.5K for those and I found it not worth.

How much did you pay on ebay??

Instead I got the ones without lights (a simple metal strip with BRIO embossed on it. Pic attached(Its a bit glared, sorry about that).
