Lol, Thanks Santosh.

There are more on the list buddy. Just not getting enough time, that's required for those mods.

I have been planning for HIDs for a few days now.
A GPS system with Media and reverse cam capabilities is in the list too.

You really planning to go for HID's so soon?

Ahh, the GPS system with a cam is really useful. How much has the dealership quoted for the same??

Speaking of fog-lamps, 11k is way too much. I noticed that our Brio doesnt hav fog-lamp slots. So do they remove the entire bracket and fix a new one incase fog-lamps are to be fixed?
Primarily, I honestly dont know the use of fog-lamps [roll]. Might render useless for a place like Mumbai.

Yeah, I wanna go for the HIDs, but I am trying to figure out if it will affect my warranty, I checked Phillips and Osram. They cost about 9-9.5k for a pair of bulbs and ballasts.

For GPS, I am considering Map My India, there is a model for around 12 k, I think which can be hooked to a reverse cam, has bluetooth connectivity for phone and plays back media as well. Best part is its plug and play so no splitting wires and no issues with warranty.

For fog lamps, they will change the entire black plastic part, and i guess that's why it is costly. I dont think its required in mumbai/bangalore etc, as it hardly gets that foggy there. But in Delhi in winters its a different story. But again I don't have fogs in my Zen, and never had much inconvenience.

Hi sudeep.roy,
Congrats on your Brio SMT..Blue suits the Brio really well. Just joined and read your ownership review..thanks for sharing your experiences with the Brio.
I have been looking to go for the Brio myself, for the last month or so. Checking out a lot of reviews etc. Had a couple of questions for you.

Have you been able to do much highway driving with your car? How is ride quality on highways? Any long distance trip as yet[:)]? Am looking to go for a hatch that I can use in the city (about 30-40%), and on the highway (60-70%). Not interested in Sedans, not to mention they're quite out of my budget[embarass]. Reason for looking at Brio for this purpose? Safety (SoMT version), quality, 2 occupants most times, 1.2L, good FE, good drivability, within budget[;)]
Secondly, what FE do you currently get in city/highway?

Thanks, any inputs from other forum members welcome.

I haven't been able to do much highways yet. I drive in chaotic city traffic mostly in the NCR region (Delhi, Gurgaon & Noida) .

I have got close to 14 ish in some good stretches (not highways though). Ans id City it lingers in between 10-11. AC on 100 % and sometimes long waits inside the car with AC [lol] .

Also some members of our forum have got 23+ in pristine driving conditions.[surprise]

And yes S(O)MT is the right choice for you since you are gonna cruise on highways a lot.

You just cant go wrong with a Brio, so just go for it.

Thanks sudeep.roy

Was concerned over FE since read some reviews elsewhere that the Brio was doing worse than it's better half (Jazz - with the same engine)! But FE is pretty subjective IMO, depending on a lot of factors. Good to hear those numbers [:)]

I've been considering a lot of vehicles for highway cruises, the only issue with Brio was the limited space, though we can accommodate, I think. We were also looking to do some really long highway drives, Bom - AMD, Bom - Hyd, Bom - BGLR, and further. For these trips we were concerned over the small boot space of Brio. Considered and negated (in no order of preference) - Figo, i20, Ritz, Swift, Punto.

As mentioned, Sedans are out. Brio seems a good choice right now. How often are you able to stay on 'Eco' mode in city traffic?

It traffic conditions, its a bit difficult (but doable atleast 40-50% of the time, IMO) due to constant downshifts to 3rd & 2nd, and even 1st to some extent in my case.

Otherwise in long stretches, you can stay in the green zone constantly if you are maintaining 70-80 upwards on the fifth. The mileage tops in class on the open roads.

Hi Sudeep,

The mileage you're mentioning is what shown by FE meter or calculated by you manually.

I FE meter usually shows 12-14 City with AC.

This sunday, Just out of curiosity I reset the trip meter on ORR delhi and try to find out what maximum I can get, without AC for a stretch of 10 km I got around 25 when driving only on 5th gear and with AC it was 22 for next 10.

I was talking strictly based on the FE meter display.

25KMPL [shock] that's something Naveen.

Hi Sid,

Gear lock was from the dealership itself, and arm rest was from aftermarket.

Just check with your local accessory walas, I am sure you should get it without any hassle.
