ok I didn't put the seat covers till now , was thinking to push some more days .... will to go to JC Road in Bangalore (automobile locality) and check for some better deal
Hi John,

I am from Bangalore too, just that I work in Gurgaon, hence I am very familiar with JC road [:)].

I had done the seat covers of my Zen from there.. Try Kumar Car Accessories.
Contact : Ritesh (9902015490). They are authorized dealers of Autoform (http://www.autoformindia.com/) which is a pretty reputed brand. You can get a choice of many colours and designs that you can customize. They will take a week to get the seat covers ready as per your taste and will cost you 5-6 k depending on the design.
Ofcourse unless you want to go for Pure leather brands like Stanley, GSport etc..[;)]

Do you think the gear lock helps in anyway ?
There are lot of terms which iam hearing for first time. I did a search in google and found they need to do some drilling and all near the gear box

Yes,
IMO, gear lock should be there in every car. I use the gear lock even if I step out of the car for an hour or two. There are two types of gear locks the 'U' type and the Pin type. The former being the old type ( I have this in my Zen) does not require drilling, but a part of it is fixes to your cars under body with bolts.

The Pin type in my Brio was installed by Honda, so nothing to worry.

Once the gear lock is in place, you can be rest assured that the car cant be pushed back or moved. It will require laser cutters to cut the metal, so the thieves cant break it easily. Totally worth the money you spend on it.

Hi John,

Gear lock is really useful and its nice to have for preventing theft. If you don't have covered parking at your home, I will advice you to get one.

Oh, so is it better to get the gear lock installed from Honda??

Will the warranty be considered void if we get it installed from any other local dealer .. as it involves some drilling and wiring?

I don't think it voids the warranty, but why not get it fixed from the dealership itself since you pay the same ??
Sounds good. [:)]

How much are the Front & Rear corner protectors for??

@ John, is an anti-rust coating necessary in the first year ..or does our new car already have one?

I got a Polycarbonate (Teflon) coat for the car. Cost me 1600/- from a known local vendor. The coat comes with a year's warranty.

So incase if the car is towed by the RTO in the absence of the driver/owner .. how do they manage?? Or will the cash-desperate lot damage the gearbox in a hurry to tow it away??

While towing the car they will lift the front portion. The back wheels will still be free, so it wont damage the gear box in any case.

Thanks for addressing my query, Sudeep. Will get in touch with the HONDA guys to install the gear lock this week.

Meanwhile, is it fine if I post photos of my BRIO in you thread??

You absolutely can brother...
You don't even have to ask, and like Raja said, you can start an ownership thread as and when you can.

hello Santacaluz
The brio underneath doesn't come with an anti-rust undercoating and to that matter no car comes with that, except some expensive sports cars.
If we want we can get it done at around 4000Rs from dealer itself during service.
Indeed the dealer asked me during the first service and I dropped the idea for time being since I had some other unrelated expenses.
Anyway one of my colleague pointed out, his wagon-R is almost 9 years old without any under-coating and still no signs of corrosion for his car ..... so most of the modern car remains protected for few years and is not something to worry immediately
But over-body coating (teflon) is useful if you happen to park your car outside, specially under SUN. I wonder how you got it for 1600, the dealer was quoting 4000 (though i didnot get it done till now)
