PDI of new Punto - Spare looked used

Hi All,

Just did a PDI of new Punto. Spare was dirty which is strange.[frustration][frustration]

How can a tyre seating inside of car get dirty and scuffed. Refer to image.

Manufacturing is of 332013. VIN is ending with JKZ.

I checked 3 cars of which 2 had this issue.

JKZ = Septmeber 2013 manufactured Fiat.

Cant make out much from the snaps that you have posted since they are not very clear. Did the spare wheel rim seem new? How much scuffed/worn was the spare tyre?

Surely this tyre is already used in some other car and transferred as a spare to this car. Ask for a replacement tyre if everything else is all right.

Do make sure to check that all tyres in use are of the same brand and their manufacturing date matches with that of the car (http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/automotive-answers/297-meaning-tyre-readings.html#post25613). The car should have H mark on MID to confirm that it hasn’t done over 200 Kms. This feature is specific to New Fiat models.

Thanks.. I will for sure. For other tyres I guess it was 332013 which indicates it was fairly recent manufacturing.

Hi Guys,

This is the pic of new Red Beauty -which I checked as apart of PDI. On behalf of my mate.

Rear doors had some panel gaps. Is this normal?

See the image. It may not be clear.

Just cross-check with a couple of same car models around. Some manufacturers are notorious for their inconsistent quality and it could be something not worth fretting over.

How to ensure that it's not a TD car

I have been searching information on this, but can't seem to find anything.

As digital odometers can also be reset, how do I ensure that the car being delivered was not used as a test drive car?

Any pointers?

If it has been used as a TD car there will be obvious signs of wear and tear. Check tyre threads, check steering, check door pads.

If you are buying in Bangalore, please visit the yard to do the PDI. BTW, what car are you buying ? Dealers in Bangalore usually do have separate TD vehicles.

sorry bro, for late response.

*identify*TD car.?
1) manufacturing date of the car and launch date of the that pirticular model coincides.
2) plastic used to wrap the seats is absent.
3} careful observation reveals nail marks on the door handle area.
4) most of the time but not always TD cars are white in color.
5} TD cars are stored at dealers stock yard and not at factory stock yard.
