Yes indeed, I have used Extremevision in my Ecosport for last 7000kms so far but now I am going for philips HID's 4200k and the DRL strip in my headlights. Not going for any projectors as the phipis HID's didnt fit well in the Chinese projectors. The mod job is in process and should be ready by tonight and once done the headlights will be installed back in the Ecosport tomorrow morning.

If you really need more light and have more Highway usage, then HID's are the best solution as it provides atleast 3 times more light than our conventional halogen's and consume nearly around 50% less power from the battery [clap]

Believe me, the DRL strip looks awesome! Will update with pics tomorrow
Supercool buddy!
We are waiting for the pics and the step by step guide right from ordering to installation [clap]

vicky90, Small question.
Does Trend variant has an option to answer calls using steering mounted audio controls? I'm confused because I don't see the phone answer/disconnect marking in Trend variant like in Titanium model. Can you please confirm?

It does have it Apple.
I usually attend calls only through this way. left button is for attending and right button is for disconnecting.

@Vicky90 how do you find the center console to use, is it easy to use or is it cumbersome,
Have you opted for parking sensors? and does the parking sensor take the rear tire into account while reversing?

Its easy to use rs500. Except pairing new devices with BT.
Media can be navigated using steering mounted controls and yes I do have rear parking sensors and parking has been a breeze with it except very tight areas.
It does not include the spare wheel but the intensity of sound increases and continuously blows when the obj is around 1 feet radius. So we can easily judge it.

Hello everyone. Just got back after installing the DRL and HID's. please refer to my ownership thread for full details and pics.

Done 7800 kms on Ecoboost Titanium.
Had been to Bangalore & added some accessories.
1. Went to JC Road to find suitable mats that covers the maximum part of the fabric. But ended up in buying the Noodle mat in roll form & DIY with help of my dad> Some Durasoft make.
2. Added Door visors for 4 doors which are Black in color but many say Sea Grey & black doesn't. There was no option of colorless or half color in visors.
3. Got underbody coating @ 3M Sanjaynagar with 5 yrs warranty.
4. Got all 4 doors with edge protectors from 3M.
5. Also the front windshield was stuck with CR70 sun film.My need was to keep the scorch heat away. They say it also acts as a antiglare.
6. Bought a mobile holder to stick to front glass.

Guys, Already changed from OEM bulbs to Philips Extremevision. They are far better. But I heard ppl say that HELLA 60/55W are better than Extreme Vision. Thinking of trying that too but yet to source one.
I think we cant get a good throw from the factory fitted headlight due to its shape.
Hey Somash,

How is the performance of the Extremevisions?

I am also thinkiong of changing the OEM bulbs. As you said, Hella 60/55W are better, I also heard the same about Hella. Moreover, they were stated as better performers than the Osram Nightbreakers.

Now, the issue is with the sourcing of these bulbs.I contacted Hella distributor in Delhi and he said that 60/55 H4 are available internationally but not in India. Here, we can get 100/90 or 100/130 in H4.These will require relay fitment.I am not inclinced to the idea of relay and all.

How are you planning to source them?

I have used Philips Extreme Vision for around 7000kms on my Ecosport and found them around 25 to 30% brighter than the Stock one's. But if you are purely looking for more light then I would suggest you to increase your budget and go for HID kit from Philips or Osram, both are equally good. You get complete kit with ballasts, wiring harness , tapes for mounting etc etc and will definitely not void the warranty as everything is plug-n-play, socket to socket. Also these HID's consume almost 50% less power than the 60/55W halogens.

The reason I am advising you for HID's is you will not feel significant difference after installing Extreme vision or Hella night breakers compared to HID's.

All the best[thumbsup]

By installing HIDs will it darken the headlamps over a period of time?

Your question is not pretty clear to me.

If you are asking if the HID glow instantly after you turn them on, then NO. The HID's take around 10 to 15 seconds to glow and emit full light and attain its peak.

If your question is whether the Headlamp glass gets darker with HID's then I think it does over a period of around 3 to 4 years. But the blackening will be extremely negligible for sure.

Hope that makes sense[;)]

Hi Venkat/DJD/Vicky,

My car will be arriving in Calcutta tomorrow. Its a Trend 1.5 Diesel Mars Red. I am taking the insurance online from Royal Sundaram where the premium is Rs 22000 Bumper to Bumper along with additional coverage for the rear wheel cover and fog laps. Hopefully I will get the delivery by mid next week.

.
Strange!!! I got a quote of 31K from Royal Sundaram for Insurance B2B in Delhi.

I think we can get Hella 60/55 W at Rs 750/- per pair in Bangalore from AK Traders, JC Road.
HE told that model of Hella is again Extreme Vision - Little confused.

No, it should not, if fitted with projectors. If you instal them standalone i.e just the HID's they might darken the reflector and the holding area.

Still, I am not very sure on this.

One interesting thread on this topic is here. Throw your question on this :

Yes, HID with projectors would be great. The problem is my dad won't allow spending 20-30K on headlamps since night driving is pretty low.

I would go in for better bulbs only!

Can you give the contact details of the same, if you have them handy?
