To hell with Mahindra's self heal!

Sent the car to the A.S.S today as yesterday evening the ABS light started blinking intermittently. i dint want to take chances & my decision proved right.

The technician connected the OBD to my car & found a broken link to the rear sensor. He found out that one wire was split & that was the cause of the ABS light. He replaced the entire wire.

Cost:
Rear Sensor PIGTAI (god knows what that means) : Rs. 224/-
Labour charge : Rs. 300/- (Funny that the labour charge is more than the cost of the kit itself!)

Total: Rs. 580/-

Its Pig tail, that switch is intermittently connected to the ECU, which balances the pressure in all the 4 tyres when brakes are applied.
In mine it was fixed free of cost.

thanks mukesh. where is this switch placed? can this be easily seen?
That switch is connected in the rear in between the 2 rear wheels. i.e is to the rear wheel axle's.
The main cause for failure of weather cap, & further damage by water entry is the main culprit.

Well i had seen that while the car was hydraulically lifted.

Guys, do these guys need to remove the dashboard to check the ABS using OBD? i am feeling the throw of air from the AC vents have drastically reduced after my car has arrived from the A.S.S., so i plan to send my car back to the A.S.S to get this checked. maybe they have not clipped the vents properly & air is leaking somewhere.

Also, i have noticed a sudden improvement in the engine performance, as in the driveability & acceleration has increased tremendously. the engine feels super responsive now! the guys have done nothing to the engine. my friend says since they connected the OBD to check the ABS issue, they must have reset all the ECU errors & hence the performance benefit. is this true? if it is, i would like to get my car's ECU reset every year as the result is simply superb! i am loving the car more now!

I'll have to get the AC checked. Also, now its almost confirmed that they have reset the ECU. i cant explain the difference in performance due to a simple ECU reset!

No there was no work for them with the Dashboard , I don't know what they might have done with it.
The car will be hydraulically lifted & they have to fix the sensor near the rear axle's.
ECU resetting is done in 2 cases,
1: While engine tuning has to be done
2: When ECU errors such as check lamp,ABS &(!) appears on ODO.

The laptop is connected to the serial port of ECU which is just above in between clutch & brake.
I am wondering what they did removing your dashboard.

Hey Raj as i said before even after rectifying my check engine problem my engine is feeling super responsive now. A slight tap of the accelerator and my car goes past 100kmph with ease. Before my car used to labour hard after reaching 80kmph but now the response is really great.

Any coincidences?

i think the co-incidence is "ECU reset"!

hey mukesh, the AC issue has been solved. The AC circulation knob was set to "upper & lower" vents. i changed it to the upper vents & the throw is back to normal. how foolish i am!

It is said that if ECU is reset , The previous best mileage may not be achieved Next time.
Ha ha, good you noticed that before leaving to A.S.S.
God knows what they would have done & charged you simply.

ECU reset will male the mapping properly, as after long run, because of various reasons, ECU gets errored. So, your feeling of improvement must be related to ECU resetting.

Today my car went for its 40k servicing.

Some minor issues were:

1) RHS front footboard light was not working
2) Driver door sensor for cabin light (and VAS) was not working
3) Rear seat rattling

I was under the impression that the suspension must have taken some serious beating as because of the monsoons, mumbai roads resemble moon's surface now! Coupled to that my impatient nature, the car had its share of abuse this monsoon. the A.S.S checked the suspension & everything seems to be alright.

The A.S.S has replaced a nut from the clutch pedal which used to make a 'tick' sound sometimes. They have also replaced the fuel filter which costs Rs. 1445/-.

Total damage to my wallet:

Rs. 2820 including labour & taxes.

All the issues have been sorted except the rear seat rattling.

A.S.S claims "sir, itna sound to hota hain har gaadi main, aapka gaadi to phir bhi acha hain". (translation - "sir, little bit of rattling is present in every car, you car is still better"). Such crap excuses is a trademark of Mahindra's A.S.S.
