Guys, i painted the pillars of my scorpio in matt black. earlier, it was stickered in matt black vinyl but the vinyl kept peeling off. so i took the decision of painting it.

contacted mahindra A.S.S & they quoted a price of 2500 approx for painting the B & C pillars with matt black without lacquer.

I took my chances with mahindra A.S.S today & leaving all apprehensions behind, i gave my car to them yesterday to get the pillars painted in Matt black.

quite surprisingly, the staff was very courteous, patient & helpful. the quality of job done looked neat. the work was done yesterday. But since i wanted the car in the evening itself & was reluctant to leave the car at the A.S.S overnight, the painter had to rush through his job leaving some areas unfinished.

However, since it was dark yesterday, they promised they would rectify the work today. I gave the painter the complete freedom to take how much ever time he needed & this time (he took around 4 hours for the finishing) & i am satisfied by their work. the finish is smooth & the vehicle looks good. the painter has assured me the paint wont chip easily & i think it would last for atleast 3 years, unlike vinyl which peels off every 4-6 months!

Total cost - Rs. 5400 [frustration] which includes Rs. 1200 for the rear tail light which had water accumulated in it, i got it replaced.

here are some work-in-progress pics, i will post the pics of the car soon-

Rajeev, bit OT, but what is lacquer? And why you are getting painted with it?
Lacquer is a coat which gives a shine to the paint. since i wanted the pillars in matt finish, i said no to lacquer.

i dint understand the second part of your query!

Hope so rajiv have got mild matt .

Actually lacquer is needed in any paint. it gives the finish.

matt lacquer is available in the market.
same way matt paint.

so the procedure is this matt paint and then matt lacquer.

else in normal paint , the painting will be done in a different method that gives a matt look - but only for some time.

what i have mentioned is the prescribed method
