Hey thats a good coverage of your full history of Scorpio! And so you are planning for a new ride , and again the new one will be a Scorpio right? [;)] You are simply too obsessed with it. Buddy though i have not driven a Scorpio till date looking at your maintenance costs i even like your Scorpio more than my Safari. Our Safari recently has given us a lot of headache after the third year![frustration]

My suggestion to people generally is to avoid TATA or go for a TATA if they have the habit of changing thecar every three years. We were absolutely happy with our Safari for first three years but when wear and tear was more after that , the problems were also more. I can say that we have spent around 75k for maintenance in the fourth year alone. (I will update a recent problem with my Safari in my ownership thread).

Me being a Civil engineer knows why an SUV is badly needed as it has it to traverse non-existent roads and SUV'S take the abuse happily! When i go to site with my dad if i go in Safari i can go in third gear on that road but if i take my Verna i cant cross first gear!! SUV'S are more sturdy and more comfortable than sedans or Hatches!

this is what happens with tatas. the initial years are good but later on, the low quality parts starts giving away.

true, i have always found SUVs to be much more comfortable than sedans though mostly people think the other way round. the high seating postion & huge seats give you a sense of security & comfort, thats what i believe.

Well we have to be truthful to ourselves and others , this is my policy. Safari is a good vehicle but maintenance cost is very high. Their A.S.S atleast here in Chennai is very poor!! Even my father has decided no more TATA from now on , our next vehicle will be a Toyota , Hyundai or Maruti only!

Mukesh i got my scorpios serviced in India garage, siresh, etc.

Stick to india garage for your service requirements.
Not that they are geniune but they cheat less that siresh or vijay.

Usually they try to convince you to change parts even if they are ok ,this practice though is rampant everywhere,it is less in india garage.
They also force customers to go for interior cleaning, teflon coating, engine de carbonisation, dont fall for this.
Until and unless you really feel some part needs to be replaced,do not agree with them.
Service assistants have a monthly target to acheive ,so they push customers for the above mentioned things. They have become unscrupulous.
Check the vehicle inch by inch for any damage or scartch especially the roof, spare wheel ,glove box etc.

I think they deal with Mitsubishi's as well as M&M.
So thought that they would not be a good option.
Now Vijay Auto has been changed to SKS Automobiles.
India Garage is far from my house.
Nearer is SKS(Vijay earlier) or Sireesh Hosur road, though i have to take a long U turn till the express elevated highway.

Love the self heal tech the scorpio comes with!

Today morning approx 4.30 am i drove to the airport & the car was behaving fine. On the way back, the ABS light & Handbrake light started glowing. i switched off the car for 2 mins & then started the car again, the light went off but only for a minute! i parked the car, checked the brake fluid, pumped the brakes & everything seemed normal. since i had relatives in my car who were tired after a long journey (and also since i knew the ABS light has a tendency to glow on its own whims & fancies), i decided to drive the car home at a slow speed.

even after reaching home, the light dint go off. did some high speed braking (from 50-60kmph) & ABS was kicking, so the functioning is proper atleast. then after an hour or so, while i was talking to the mahindra A.S.S, the lights went off! now the car is running fine, so i love this "self heal" tech mahindra has incorporated in the scorpio... not even mercs & BMWs have this feature!

I had the same problem with the Safari!! The check engine light kept glowing and went off alternatively. It light glow behaved exactly the same way mentioned by you but again as you said no problem with the car's characteristics! I will update the complete story in my thread!

Your problem why don you take it to an A.S.S and connect the ECM to a laptop to find out the problem?

Raj i would suggest you to have a visit to A.S.S as in my car that problem had resurfaced & the light would go of after parking overnight when my car was new.
That too i was travelling with that problem, The stopping distance was more.
A sensor near handbrake as well as ABS is working intermittently, So get that replaced, May be a Cotech can solve this issue.
They will connect a laptop to the ECU plug near clutch & they will fix the fault.
I had felt the ABS requirement when the ODO goes beyond 120.

Are you sure that is "Self Heal" or the issue is expected to crop up again? You must get it checked thoroughly at Mahindra After Sales, once.

i feel that there is no such feature.
But one thing is that if the critical sensor fails in the car then the car switches over to "limp mode" which will enable the hawk to reach nearest service station.
This ABS light will resurface again according to me.
As in my car it got fixed after replacing the sensor of hand brake with ABS also.
